Good morning Omniel: Thanks for the disclaimer, up until now I thought your videos were exclusively intended to provide us with an excellent source for learning all the technical aspects of maintaining espresso machines, the various coffee bean varieties & sources and their different processing methods and of course, how to properly pull the best espresso shots each and every time. BASICALLY, all things coffee 🙂 Before I get into commenting too much about today's video I want to add to my last week's comments a bit. Yes, I was talking about the White Castle hamburger restaurant. My sister-in-law worked there for 40 years! She has given me a new / different White Castle coffee mug for Christmas for about the last 25 or 30 years. Please don't get your hopes up too much before trying White Castle for the first time... they are very small little square shaped hamburgers. The thin hamburger is cooked by placing a bed of re-hydrated chopped onions on the grill and the frozen hamburger patties are placed on top of them and then covered with the buns. The burgers are literally cooked with steam coming from the water from the re-hydrated onions. This results in an unusual taste - some people love 'em and others really hate 'em 🙂 While watching today's video, I checked two things on the internet... First, aside from the things you discussed about flushing the water, the internet experts said: ******** Flushing the group head of an espresso machine removes coffee grounds and oils that can build up and negatively impact the taste of the espresso: Cleanliness: Flushing the group head helps prevent mold and keeps the machine clean. Taste: A clean group head results in better tasting espresso. Temperature: Flushing helps maintain water temperature, which is especially important if the machine has been idle for a long time. Here are some tips for flushing your espresso machine's group head: How often: You can flush the group head after every shot, or at least once a week. How long: The length of the flush depends on your machine, but it's usually less than 2 seconds. ******** Second, I checked Crema Coffee Products website and they do not show a chute extender for the Niche Duo. I did send a message to them, asking if they intended to add one to their line of products and will get back to you once I get a response from them. Lastly, I also checked the internet to see if I could find anything to possibly help Oly? Here's what I found: ******* If a Lelit espresso machine isn't dripping water until you significantly raise the flow control lever, the most likely cause is a partial blockage or restriction in the water flow path, usually due to built-up mineral deposits (scale) within the group head, shower screen, or the brew valve, which can be exacerbated by using hard water; raising the flow control lever simply compensates for the restricted flow by allowing more water to pass through the blockage. Key points to consider: Scale buildup: This is the most common culprit, especially in areas with hard water. Clogged shower screen: The shower screen distributes water evenly across the coffee puck, and if clogged, can significantly reduce flow. Faulty brew valve: While less likely, a malfunctioning brew valve could also restrict water flow. Grind size: If your coffee is ground too fine, it can create excessive resistance, leading to a slow flow even with the flow control lever adjusted. What to do: Descale your machine: Regularly descaling your Lelit machine with a dedicated descaling solution is essential to prevent scale buildup. Clean the shower screen: Remove the shower screen and clean it thoroughly with a brush and descaling solution. Check the brew valve: Inspect the brew valve for any visible damage or debris. Adjust grind size: If you suspect your grind is too fine, try adjusting it slightly coarser. Contact a technician: If the problem persists after cleaning and adjusting settings, consult a qualified espresso machine technician. ⣠⣦⣤⣀⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣼⡟⠁⠈⠉⠻⢶⣄⡀⠀⠀⢀⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢰⣯⣥⣄⣀⣤⣄⣤⣽⣿⣶⣞⠛⣿⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣿⣿⣿⣷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢰⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⢿⣿⣿⡆⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⢠⣤⣤⣤⣶⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⠟⠛⣻⣟⣭⣿⠿⠿⠿⡿⠟⣟⢿⣿⣿⠟⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢨⣞⣿⡿⠉⠉⣳⡀⠻⣷⣿⣿⠀⠀⢠⠇⠀⣿⡼⠟⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠻⠿⢥⠤⠒⡟⠳⣀⠈⠛⠦⠴⠚⠁⠀⠀⢯⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⣀⡠⠤⠤⠼⠦⣤⡇⠀⠈⠳⣄⣀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⣴⣞⣉⡀⠀⣀⣀⣀⣀⠀⠀⠠⠤⠤⠤⠉⠻⡆⠀⠀⠀⢸⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠉⠉⠉⠁⠀⠈⡟⠓⠲⠤⠤⠤⠤⠶⠚⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⣀⣀⣀⣀⣀⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⡇⠀⢀⡴⢾⡋⠉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠉⠓⠦⢄⡀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠳⣴⠋⠀⣀⡹⠶⡖⠊⠉⠉⠉⠉⠉⠉⠉⢉⣿ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠳⣍⠀⠀⠀⠘⢦⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⡼⠋⠁ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣠⠏⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠘⢦⡀⢀⣀⡀⠽⢦⠤⣠⠔⠉⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢰⠃⠀⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡗⠦⣄⠀⠱⡄⠀⠀⠀⡼⠋⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⣠⣤⣴⣶⣤⠏⢀⠞⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡇⠀⠈⠳⣄⠘⣆⣤⢿⡶⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⢀⣝⣻⣿⢿⡟⢠⠏⠀⣇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⣷⡖⠒⢂⣈⣿⡿⢿⣯⣤⣄⣀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠛⠛⠻⣿⠀⣩⠏⠀⠀⢻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡇⢹⡿⣿⡿⠳⢶⣤⣿⣝⠛⠚⠃⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⣼⣰⠋⠀⠀⠀⢸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢸⡇⠀⣻⠎⠀⠀⠀⠈⢹⣿⡇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠘⢿⠃⠀⠀⢀⡴⠋⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠘⢧⡴⠉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣠⠋⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠙⢦⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣼⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠱⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢿⠀⠀⠀⠀⣤⣤⠤⠤⠤⠤⠤⠤⠤⣤⣄⣀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣹⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠳⡀⠀⠸⡅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⢹⡆⠀⠀⢠⠇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⢀⣀⠤⠤⠒⠛⢦⣤⢧⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣸⡇⢀⣴⣋⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠞⠯⣄⣀⠀⠀⢀⡠⠔⠚⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣎⣉⠙⠋⠉⠉⠉⠓⠢⣤⡄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⡉⠓⠒⠉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠉⠙⠲⢤⣤⠤⠔⠊⠉⠁ I hope you enjoy a great week ahead, Kerry

@kerrycoyle8930 Good morning Kerry. You made me laugh today as usual, specially the part about the White Castle burgers, wow you make them sound so bad 😅. Still, I have to try them. Thank you for reaching out to Krema, let's see what they say. Thank you for the information as to flushing the system before pulling a shot, however most of the issues point to having a dirty system, and that doesn't apply, at least to me. As to the situation with our friend Oly, I seem to mostly agree with the possibility of scale build up in the needle valve assembly. According to Oly, this behavior is expected for machines offered in his region. I'm not sure why, or if I can get on board with that. Thank you for your beautiful wealth of information Kerry, I look forward to our interactions every Sunday. Take care Kentucky, and have a wonderful week ahead. 🤗

I couldn’t care less about the Lelit, unless it’s about the Niche, which I care even less about. I originally came for the Breville content, but I stay for the talk! There’s plenty to learn from others’ experiences! People think the internet cares if they don’t like something, but just like if you don’t like a tv show, or a movie, or an ice cream sandwich, stop watching (or eating). The older I get, the easier it is to move on from something that doesn’t give me satisfaction and nobody needs or cares to know the reasons why. Please keep up the wonderful Sunday morning discussions, Doctor! 😂

Always a pleasure to watch, your videos don't need a disclaimer mate. Haters will be haters, this is your channel, so do things your way. I believe most of us appreciate it for what it is. Gonna be awhile yet till I can use my Bianca again sadly, fractured me left hand and thus pulling shots with just 1 hand is gonna be tough... Any tips on what I should do to maintain the machine while it's off for an extended period of time? Is it ok to just leave it alone? Also, why does pressure on my machine start to build at just 6 seconds? Paddle at 5 o'clock just like yours... 🤔
@OmnielCapoteАй бұрын
@jowyong6769 Hello my friend. First let me start by saying, I'm sorry to hear about your hand buddy. I hope you have a speedy recovery. However, I imagine you might be able to figure a way to pull shots with just one hand, if you wish. As to storing your machine long term, I imagine you should try to empty the boilers, however I don't know to much about that. If it was me, and I had to wait a couple of months or so, I wouldn't do anything. If it was for longer than that, I would just run the machine every week for a while, with no coffee brewing. So if you are going to be home during your recovery, than no worries buddy, just run it for a while every week. Run your group, your water spout, and your steam. Just run everything periodically and your good to go. Thank you for your comment, and I hope this helps. Thank you for your kind words. I wish you a speedy recovery, take care, and have a wonderful day. 🤗
@jowyong6769Ай бұрын
@OmnielCapote Thanks for the well wishes Omniel 😀 OK...Will try just running the machine periodically. Thought about using the machine with 1 hand but opted against it. Puck prep, tamping even getting water in and out of the reservoir is gonna be a challenge. Not to mention cleaning up after that 🤦🏻♂️
@vuduong173Ай бұрын
I think because the water sitting inside the E61 for too long, it can also build some steam inside of the grouphead, even for DB machines, so purging it before pulling a shot can get rid of those vapors. Maybe it's all in my head, though. lol
@OmnielCapoteАй бұрын
@vuduong173 Hello friend, and welcome to the comments. My understanding is that the water is constantly cycling from the boiler, through the group, and back into the boiler. The water is not just sitting in there. However, I'm not a doctor, or an engineer 😅, I'm just some dude. What do I know 😅. Thank you for the comment buddy. Have a wonderful day.

Yes, Sir - the last two weeks have been a little stressful. I saw your video going online, but I could not afford the time brewing and enjoying my Sunday routine 🙈 Nice to see you and Kerry 🥰🥰🥰 caring for me. Re. the paddle - We have checked our units, and all 'behaved' as designed. There might have been some minor changes in design. (But that's not official). And no, we are not from the same region. ok, in the USA you would say, we are 😂😂😂 Water is different. What we can agree to... our paddles kick in a little later than yours. We had contact with a friend in France and his paddle is working as yours. 2nd.... if I am going for a 60/60+ seconds shut, and I grind as fine as you (met a niche lover, some weeks ago) Yes. Pressure builds up with the paddle at 7. - we do not talk about whether the shot was drinkable 😂😂😂. But i'm still alive. Hope next weekend will be more relaxing and I can catch up the video I missed. Stay safe. Regards.🤗

Your brew temperature is not „like 85C“. That difference would be ridiculous. I don’t think your PID is that far off. Yes some Bianca’s are having problems with their offset setting but I never heard about a wrong calibration by 10 degrees. The PID sets it’s Temperature in the Boiler. That’s 99.5% accurate. Than the machine will be calibrated to an offset… that minigates the thermal loss that happens from the boiler to the brew group. This offset changes from machine to machine and can be reconfigured in the developers menu. Sometimes this offset is wrong by a few degrees. So your brew temp can indeed be lower than 95C but not 85C. The only way to get an accurate reading is by temperature probe with a special portafilter insert. Any other method is trash… just a random dude wasting his time using useless methods. 😉

@rkytr.2765 Hello friend, and welcome to the comments. You really sound like you know what you are saying, and I'm just some dude. I don't have the probe you speak about, so I won't be able to test in that manner. The only thing I can do is base everything on what I'm tasting, and adjust accordingly. Maybe one day I will have the right tools. Thank you for dropping into the comments. Take care, and have a wonderful day.
