I remember when James or Lance suggested that double-tamping might be a better way to make expresso. I'm not entirely convinced it's better, but it feels good to double-tamp with my spring-loaded tamper. Thanks for the vlog.

@offwiththeirheads4635 Hello my friend. I guess the double tamping is a thing. I didn't realize a lot of people were experimenting with that. Thank you for watching, take care, and have a wonderful day my friend.

This has become part of my Sunday morning routine. Such a great show. Here is my secret. Although I'm an old guy, I've only been drinking coffee for a little over a year. Never been a coffee drinker in life. But I had an Ethiopian Natural in a coffee shop with one of my kids and my eyes were opened. Within a year, I ramped up to being a specialty coffee fanatic and I'm making up for lost time now. So a lot of the coffees you feature on your show are the first time I am seeing or hearing about them. SEY is a roaster I have not had and will be getting some very soon. Very thankful for this channel and Omniel!

@CoffeeShowcase Good morning. Hey bud, may I ask your name? I'm so surprised to hear that you are fairly new to coffee!! I have to say, your KZbin channel is beautiful, and you have a very unique style. I've enjoyed the stories so far, and look forward to more of them. Where are you located, are you in the US? Thank you for the kind words, take care, and have a wonderful day. 🤗

Hi Omniel. My name is Tate. I live in the commonwealth of Kentucky. I have family in Key West and I get down there now and then. I’ll let you know the next time I’m down in the Keys in case you care to meet half way for coffee. Thanks for the kind words about the channel. You’ve been my number one encouragement. I know it takes years to build a channel. But it is difficult putting your heart and soul into something that doesn’t necessarily get out in front of folks who would find it interesting. For now, I’m doing it for my wife, my kids, and you! Haha. Take care.

@CoffeeShowcase Great to meet you Tate. For moments like this, is the entire reason why I do it. You know Kerry, is also in Kentucky. I look forward to Kerry's comment every single Sunday, and now to your's as well. Take care. Oh, by the way, next time you come down, reach out.

Good morning Omniel: Interesting comparison of coffees this morning. Based on what I found searching the internet the ratio of espresso to water for making an americano should be about 1/4 espresso to 3/4 water / 2 oz. espresso mixed with 6 oz. water. I'll have to actually measure the ratio the next time I make one? I have an old White Castle coffee mug that my sister-in-law gave me and I normally pour in my espresso shot and then simply fill it the rest of the way with water. I'm guessing that it will end up close to above mentioned ratio because I believe the mug I use holds around 8 oz. Sassy and I stayed in bed a little later this morning, so as of now I haven't made any coffee. I do plan to feed Sassy and make myself a latte and drink it while eating a cinnamon raisin bagel as soon as I complete this comment. Later today we plan to visit our favorite steakhouse as a birthday present... yep, I'm 73 years old today. The number doesn't bother me a bit, but I could do without the added little aches and pains that have come with age 🙂 Take care and God willing, I'll see you again next Sunday morning, Kerry

@kerrycoyle8930 😯 Oh WOW!!! A big happy birthday Kerry. Thank you for the Americano recipe, I think I still need more work in order to get it right. White Castle, the burger restaurant? I've never been to one, but now there is one in Orlando, and I've been wanting to go, so maybe next time. Enjoy your dinner tonight, and your special day. Happy birthday. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤗

Great review on both Sey coffees, Omniel! I tend to double tamp when puck prepping, but I don’t have a preference for single or double tamping. Normally I’ll do a light tamp when my dosing funnel is on my portafilter to press the grounds just below the rim of the portafilter, then once I take the funnel off I then give it the final tamp. That’s my little experience with the double tamping

Omniel, my friend, thanks for the lovely Sunday morning! :) I noticed you’re almost always using the Niche Zero, even though you’re brewing with a light Ethiopian roast, and not so much its bigger counterpart. With flat burrs supposedly making a difference, are you planning to give it another chance? I’m leaning towards getting a Zerno, mainly for the flat burrs and their reputed advantage with lighter roasts, but I’m holding off because it seems like you don’t find them that compelling-or am I misreading you?
@OmnielCapote3 ай бұрын
@VirTERM Good morning Wojtek. I recently recorded a video swapping the Duo's burrs back to the espresso burrs. I don't see any advantage there. I still think the Zero is better. I still fail to taste a meaningful difference between burrs, of any kind, so far. Maybe someone with a more sophisticated palette can, but that is not me. I would fail to properly identify burr sets 🤷♂️. I would love to play with the Zerno, but I doubt I would be able to properly identify the burrs. Have a wonderful day my friend.

Just get a level tamper. That makes tamping way easier. I recommend the Decent Tamper or the force tamper. 60s shot? 🤯 That’s crazy in my eyes. I can go with your flow profile for light roasts… but 30s pre infusion is to long. Try the same flow profile but in 45s instead of 60s. I would recommend changing the basket too… it’s the standard basket isn’t it? Try one with straight walls, I like the Pullman. I’ve got a bianca too… I know the stock basket is good but believe me there are better baskets especially for lighter roasts.

@rkytr.2765 Hello friend, and welcome to our little community. I know. I've talked about it many times. I will eventually get a spring loaded, self leveling tamper. The thing is that, I feel that a coffee hobbyist should know how to tamp. Just like latte art, it requires some practice. That is the reason I haven't gotten one yet. I will get one eventually. Thank you so much for your comment. Take care, and have a wonderful day.
@rkytr.27653 ай бұрын
@@OmnielCapote i agree with you. A barista should know how to tamp. But I think a level tamper is the best tool to improve your coffee. It’s one thing to worry less about… It’s completely worth it. It improved my routine by a lot. The tamp is perfect every time, it’s a constant. Tip: don’t turn the tamper while tamping. It „could“ cause puck deformation vise versa channeling, just don’t.
@OmnielCapote3 ай бұрын
@rkytr.2765 I know, I try, I still have a lot to learn. I will get a self leveling tamper soon. Again, I'm just an average consumer, I'm not an expert. I will keep practicing and hopefully get better. I've been thinking about the Normcore tamper, they have the all white set up. I think that would look cool on my bar, and get the job done. What do you think about that one?
@rkytr.27653 ай бұрын
@@OmnielCapote i have not tried the Normcore tamper but I heard positive things from it. And yes, the white version would look good with your setup. Personally I use the Wiedecent Tamper. It’s a top quality handcrafted tamper. And like I said before… the force tamper is a good option too. But if like pesado… I think they have a new spring loaded tamper as well. But if you want to go super crazy… you can get the new Hauk Vibra Tamper. With that you won’t need wdt anymore. 😉
@OmnielCapote3 ай бұрын
@rkytr.2765 I haven't even heard of that last one, I got to look it up. The Force Tamper is one of the most popular ones, however 🤑. I love Pesado, but I'm not really feeling theirs. I'm thinking Normcore, but we'll see. Thank you for the chat buddy. I will do some more research. Take care my friend.

Hiya! Great stuff once again. That Mocambo place reminds me alot of a local roastery I often visit. It's an Australian concept brought into Singapore called Yahava. Great coffee, great sandwiches. What's not to like? 😊 Edit: Coffee safari vid please! 😘

@jowyong6769 Hello friend. I know, "what's not to like". Do they also use Colombian coffee? By the way, have you ever been to Gardens by the Bay? I would love to see it.
@jowyong67693 ай бұрын
Hmmm...they have many different types, single origins and blends. Brazil, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, India are some, but I don't think they have a straight Colombian 🤔
