As I wrote in my boo,. "What's in It for Me?" I just want to reach into the screen and rescue her ,,, and tell her no one will ever hurt you again!" She is a perfect example of an innocent child sacrificed on the altar of greed and avarice. What an enormous talent!
@11kwright9 жыл бұрын
Stephen Fuchs I think it was definitely greed on her managers side and it was lack of parenting from her parents. On the Terry Wogan show she admits that she hardly saw her parents. She was in London and they were, I think she said Scotland but somewhere different anyway. She then goes onto say that she see them as friends and her sister too as they are growing apart as they are getting older. This was very telling that she didn't have any family life, stability, love guidance and with boudaries. Her manager in Part II says that Lena was too young at 9 to look after so no one really was there for her at her tender junior age of 9 coupled with absent parents must have been awful for her at times. She must have been very scared at night, a feeling of being all on her own at such a young age. You can definitely see the troubles in her eyes and sometimes the way she puts her face sometimes are very telling. Life always seemed to be a performance and it appeared as though it was very hard for her to just be herself. However, I feel the fundamental problem was she had no guidance or love when she needed it most when she was a child. She was a money making machine for the manager and her parents gave her over to her profession. With a background like this something bad was bound to happen.

@@juliewheatley8411 I disagree. I think it was a mediocre performance at best. I am entitled to my opinion and I intend to share it. It's negative critique discrimination. That's what it is!!!!
@rosie81262 жыл бұрын
@@paulrooney982 you’re certainly entitled to your opinion. Well, she was brave in her adversity with health issues, to get up on stage to perform in front of an audience when feeling absolutely like crap. The suffering of not seeing her parents for some time must have been frightening for a child. But we know there was more to the story than we are being told. And it wasn’t a happy story or happy life especially with the two wicked witches who managed her after she hit the big screen. That’s where the problem originated. Both made a mint out of her and didn’t care for her welfare or health.
@paulrooney9822 жыл бұрын
@@rosie8126 I think Lena Zavaroni was an immense talent. It just wasn't utilised well. If she was discovered in modern times on BGT or one of these modern talent shows then I have little doubt that she'd have been handled a lot more differently. Look at SuBo. She obviously has / had her issues but she's still around and still making a great living.

That big smile at the song climax was so inappropriate. I know she'll have been told to do that but it showed no sympathy to the song whatsoever. Admittedly, technically, she was very good. But watch the original and Art Garfunkel singing it from the heart. Lena, unfortunately, in this instance, was not. It's all technique and no soul. Sorry, Lena fans. This is poor.
