My lucky guess is that this fuse blew for a reason, maybe there was something else wrong and it caused the fuse to blow. When repair shop replaced the fuse with a wire (clearly not a proper calibrated one :P) it didn't pop like it should and forwarded high voltage straight to the PCH. I have no idea if it is possible cause I only gather knowledge from YT videos but it seems logical to me at least :)

Do you have any idea, i just tried to unpin my acer laptop display when the battery is not removed, and after that I see its charging and power indicator showing for 2 sec, no back lid, no fan turning on, no keyboard light, and after 2 sec the indicator turned off. Any idea ?

The fuse blew because the user shorted that high voltage line to the chipset data lines (and shattered this), this is very common in the laptop repair business (Always disconnect the battery before you do anything inside your computer).

Had to replace the screen in my own Legion 5... these systems seem to have a common problem with a dithering effect that creeps in from the edges of the screen. However, when they said they left the power connected, I knew what had happened, but it's crazy to see that it literally blew the PCH in half. It also looks like the GPU die is cracked as well. I think it's a safe bet that the CPU is done too. This is going to be an expensive lesson for this shop. Seems they have a bit to learn.

To me it's clear what happened there, damaged eDP cable, I have changed PCHs for this reason and yes, the labour is too much and the risk of buying a damaged (or preconfigured for another brand) chip is high, in my country it's still viable though. Some people keep using their laptops with damaged hinges, not knowing that the cable suffers, a damaged cable exposes the delicate data lines that come from the PCH, the CPU, a muxer or converter chip to the high voltage of the backlight, putting the chip AND the sccreen on the line of fire, even the webcam is not safe.

@TheAussiePipe4 ай бұрын
PCH = Platform Controller Hub. The PCH controls certain data paths and support functions used in conjunction with Intel CPUs. These include clocking (the system clock), Flexible Display Interface (FDI) and Direct Media Interface (DMI), although FDI is used only when the chipset is required to support a processor with integrated graphics.
