Lenovo Legion

This Lenovo Legion Y720 gaming laptop is in my shop because it's overheating and there's a giant hole in the corner. Even though this computer is in rough shape, the tech is still good for what they need and they want to upgrade the RAM to give it some more power. I ended up upgrading the NVMe to 1TB as well. These are actually really easy laptops to work on but they do suffer from weak hinge mounts on the display lid and overheating.

In fairness, I have experience living with that nightmare of storage space for a horrible yet legitimate reason. My computer had one of the first SSDs available and the selling point at the time was "all it really needs is enough space to run the OS"... and then Adobe, which is nesseccary to my job, ate literally everything else. ... no matter how I told it not to. Nearly a decade of registry keys also doesn't help.

I have the desktop version of this, the Lenovo y720 Cube, and for some ungodly reason my ssd was shipped with 97 GB, of which my OS uses like 35 right off the bat and of course %appdata% is huge since these pcs are.. what 7 years old now? I think somewhere around that.

0:59 I sometimes have less free space on my Laptop. Actually a few GB free space is enough to run Windows smoothly if you clean your temporary files often enough and don't plan on install any large software or store a lot of content on it. However in this case you might end up with space left in the MB region before cleaning temp files. But Windows actually warns you if you run out of HDD space, so it's not a very big issue. It's important to use a fixed size for the swapfile though, because otherwise free space fluctuates all the time. This also prevents fragmentation of the swapfile.

For me i do ps4 controllers simple design really but small mistakes will fuck you other mine was i put it all together except the fucking part that connects the charger and led parts to the controller so i literally had to take out the battery and everything just to put one tiny fucking ribbon type plug in the smallest most inconvenient slot ive ever seen

Have you ever had an inspiron 7559 come through there? I’ve got one as a backup pc and surprisingly it hasn’t had any heating problems despite not being cleaned out for 5 years. My only issue is the hinges are not designed very well.

true story: my old laptop was amazingly hot when playing games, IT CAN'T EVEN PLAY ROBLOX without shutting off due to overheating. I decided to remove the fan and holy shit there was carpet blocking the heatfins. I removed it and my laptop performed better than before. Life lesson: always add fan cleaning as part of laptop maintenance

I I bought my friends broken legion for $180 and all I needed to fix was a new windows install and a bottle of duster and it works perfectly lol. I think it's worth about $300 on eBay right now.
