But the nvme will not run at full speed because the extension is sata (max speed ≈ 600mb/s) You need PCIE port gen 3 or above to get speed of 1500mb/s There is no point to use that extension just install normally ssd (cheaper)

Just to be clear, the NVMe caddy came with the T470's I purchased. So, of course I purchased NVMe SSD's. Fairly inexpensive on Amazon in Canada. Very similar in pricing to 2.5" SSD's.

Hello Mister, Could you please share a link where to find the adapter or a complete technical name of it?

Google suits for Lenovo ThinkPad or Lenovo caddy connector for SSD. Browse through Google images until you see the one that match your laptop specs

Just as the other person said. Search eBay or Google shopping for "ThinkPad T470 NVMe caddy"
Why not a second drive on the m.2 slot dedicated to a wwan card? You're clearly not using it and it seems closer to the ram and cpu. When pushing 0s and 1s, every nm matters.

To the naked eye the connector looks the same whether it's the sata or NVMe. There isn't specific note of a different connection in the product specifications psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T470/ThinkPad_T470_Spec.PDF

I was wondering, are there different sizes of m2 ssd? I have a thinkpad t470 right now that came stock with a HDD. I found a caddy on ebay for $18. Will any m2 sdd fit it?
@HaisteComputerRepair Жыл бұрын
I would take a look at the caddy and see where you fasten it in. More than likely it is meant to fit a 22x80mm full size nvme ssd. There are different sizes of nvme drives, but taking a look at the caddy should dictate what size you should get. Send me a link if you want a second opinion.

@nightskyimages2977 Be aware that only one slot will take the usual 2280 size. At best, the other slot only takes smaller ones (maybe 2242).

upgrading the ssd is worth,would it make it faster?or i only need to upgrade ram to make it faster....
@HaisteComputerRepair Жыл бұрын
Are you currently running a Hard Drive or a Solid State Drive? An SSD is an excellent choice and should be considered before RAM, so long as you are running minimum 4GB DDR4 in this laptop. Then, definitely get the RAM up to 8GB or more, depending on what you want to do.

I'm considering upgrading the stock SSD on my T470, which has the following code/specs: Intel SSDPEKKF256G8l / LEN P/N: SSS0L25128 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe 2280 The replacement product I found online seem to match all except it specifies PCIe 3.0 x 4 with up to 3500MB/s read. Should there be concern about new product not being compatible with the T470? And @5:48 did you reinstall windows onto the new SSD? Thanks!
