Hi Joy! To keep baking powder fresh, put the can in a zippered plastic bag. If you put the can in on its side, you can roll the air out before zipping it, wrap it with a rubber band and store it upright. To keep brown sugar soft, put 1 or 2 marshmallows in with it. They make great snacks when the sugar is gone, too.
@robinwilson84352 жыл бұрын
What about onion powder? It cakes like crazy.
@kareninvermont3862 жыл бұрын
@@robinwilson8435 If it has a removable shaker top you can use a sharp knife to pop that off and put a few grains if rice in...real raw rice -- not instant rice. You could also use a little paper packet of silica that comes in bottles of supplements to keep them fresh & dry. Don't use ones from bags of chips. I hope that helps.

Hi Joy! I wanted to tank you for sharing this recipe. I just made it and I absolutely love it! I accidentally left out the baking soda and added Italian seasoning and they came out perfect and delicious. I made mine into 4 tortilla wraps. Next time I will double the recipe. I'm just hoping they don't get too hard after they cool down. I actually took a long weekend to prep foods and watch more videos for inspiration. I think this one will be in weekly rotation. I am on my way to transitioning to a plant based diet and I have watched almost all of you videos over the past month and you have given me so much inspiration. These wraps will pair perfectly with your chickpea salad recipe. I love your videos and Derek cracks me up! Lots of love from Arkansas. 💕

Split lentils? Did you mean split peas? Or red lentils (no skin)?
@crispygolden11114 жыл бұрын
Dreamingrightnow, I'm not sure if you can see my reply or if it posted. I use Banyan Botanicals or 24 Mantra organic mung dal (moong dal) which are deskinned split mung beans, so technically not lentils. Sometimes I use red split lentils (masoor dal), usually Arrowhead Mills or 24 Mantra organic. Sometimes I sprinkle in some urad dal (deskinned and split black lentils, white inside) or some unskinned whole black lentils, but they are much harder to grind up. I add them into the measurement for the total amount of lentil, I don't use them in addition to the measurement. I use a vitamix, my food processor is small and not usually too adaptable to many projects. Also I sometimes add a tablespoon or two of amaranth, millet or buckwheat, in addition to the lentils. I'm back to using baking powder (I use a 2:1 ratio of cream of tartar to baking soda). This is best right out of the oven, it starts to get a little tough quickly. I'm not sure why I can't see the replies I posted already, maybe I missed them or something. I hope you can see this, I wasn't ignoring you. And Joy, I love your video, you make cooking look like so much fun!

Has anybody ever wondered about how they make parchment paper? It has a silicon coating to prevent the paper from catching fire. In the olden days, like for example the romans, used oil and butter coated paper to wrapped foods in for cooking. :-D Well, let`s hope the silicon on our paper is safe and doesn`t rubb off and end up in our tummies. I think I might even like to use a tiny bit of coconut oil instead, to just brush on my baking sheet and don`t use parchment paper at all. Or even use none stick baking sheets, if possible. Lovely recipe Joy.

Try a zip lock bag with desication packs to reduce clumping baking soda. Just a thought in the moment.🙂

Try a small mason jar for your baking powder. I've had brown sugar in one for a year and it is still soft. I saw this recipe on another YT channel and they used a cast iron skillet in the oven at 400 degrees. Every time I tried it it it stuck to the skillet. The baking pan and parchment paper is a much better way to go. Thanks.

I think i parts of India they make lentil bread for their curry, they add natural yogurt to it, gives it a sour edge. I gonna try your recipe this week :)

That is the beauty of cooking and making it your own. We haven't tried it with yogurt so we will have to make some and let you know!
