I am thrilled to know that I can bake these. It is a pain on the stovetop you have to stand there so long and flip them just so. This oven way will help me make these more often. I want to try a sweet-ish version with cinnamon sugar. God bless you for sharing your kitchen hacks.

Hello sister/friend. As I write this I am enjoying the lentil flatbread that you so generously shared with us. Last week I saw a video on how to make flaxseed flatbread so I added an 1/8th of a cup of ground flaxseed at the end of the 3 hour soaking period and some additional water. I let this sit for 5 min and added some garlic salt, thyme, sage, salt and paprika. Since my accident 6 years ago, due to my TBI I experience only a little taste, smell and no hunger so the additions of savory spices encourages me to eat. I had forgotten that you mentioned garlic and curry and next time will try that combo. With the additions of the herbs, these were really yummy and I wanted to send you a hug show of gratitude for stopping by my kitchen, with your video, and offering a variety of meals that are easy and not time consuming. Too many steps overwhelm my brain which result in a lot of mistakes. This recipe was so easy. THANK YOU & my our Lord Jesus Christ keep shining his light through you.

Praise the Lord for your sweet and kind words, Jojo!!! Wow, I'm so sorry to hear you had an accident that caused a TBI. While it clearly seems to certainly cause inconvenience to you, I pray that it causes you no chronic pain or suffering, although I'm sure it did at the outset and probably for some long time. I have prayed for you and will keep you in my prayers, my sister! I love the idea of the flax seeds and have thought of trying it, but never have. I will have to do so! I imagine it adds a nice crispiness!!! Thank you for sharing that and your seasoning combo!! May God through our Lord Jesus keep you close to Him, under His feathers and in His nest!

This is a great way of consuming red lentils. I use 1/4t of curry powder, 1 garlic clove and blend. Before I pour it over parchment, I add to the batter 1 scallion and a lot of a red pepper, both chopped finely. Mix well. Pour it over the parchment. I cook this for 25M. I peel it off the parchment by flipping it over and taking the parchment off. This only works if it cooked enough during the 25M. It could use another 5M to do the flip trick. It goes back on the parchment, the less cooked side up or down, depending on my mood. Thanks so much for this recipe!!

Hi, Marg! Thanks for watching! I think you and I may be kitchen twins, because I use curry powder and garlic in mine, as well!!! I've also topped with diced onion, and it is so good -- I will definitely have to try the red pepper, also - thank you for that idea!!!! I do the flip trick, as well, so I think you and I are, as I said, kitchen twins!! Praise God through Christ Jesus for great ways like this to share with one another! ❤❤❤

@@LivingLambsVeganKitchen I got the curry powder and garlic idea from you. I doubled the curry to 1/4t. I tried a few with veggie toppings (sprinkle on top before baking) but it's sooooo much better embedded in (mixed into) the batter. The red pepper is mostly for the color but it's delicious. I'm going to do this with orange/yellow toor dal and what looks the same but my Indian friend set me straight that it's chana dal (split desi chickpeas) after I finish my split red lentils. Also, I stupidly left a chilled flat bread on the counter in a plastic bag and 2 days later I had to throw it out. Make sure you refrigerate, y'all! Soooo, Ms. Living Lamb, so glad I discovered you!

I finally got a chance to test your lentil batter in my toaster oven. I use a pizza pan with a circular piece of parchment paper (kind of a pain to cut out, but the pizza pan is all I've got). It comes out beautifully, though. I think my oven is less powerful than yours though, as I've not yet gotten one as brown and crispy as the one in your video. I guess I'll have to turn up the juice a little. Thanks again. Since I don't eat regular bread, this is a welcome addition to my diet. All the best.

Hi, Ian! Thank you so much for watching! If you try it, let me know. I am not sure that it is stable enough or thick enough to hold any kind of sauce or anything thin. That said, it is very delicious if you blend in, say, a red pepper and garlic and a tablespoon of tomato paste with the batter. Also, you can scatter mushrooms and onions on top of the batter, along with spices, and it makes a very delicious bread, if not a proper pizza! Praise God through Christ Jesus for great ways like this to share with one another! ❤️✝️❤️

Love this. Can this work with brown lentils? I don’t have a high speed blender, could I use my regular one?
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen 4 жыл бұрын
Yes! You can use brown lentils! Just use another tablespoon of water, as the skins absorb more waters than the skinless red lentils. You might need to add a bit more water to the batter, as well. It should be thick but easily pourable -- between melted ice cream and pancake batter, if that makes sense. I think a regular blender would work fine, so long as you give them a good soak -- at least 4 hours and preferably overnight. Thanks so watching, mamalovesyarn (and I, as a knitter and crocheter, do too, for that matter!) -- praise God through Christ Jesus for KZbin which makes it so easy for us to share with one another!

@LivingLambsVeganKitchen
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen 8 ай бұрын
Hi, Jim! Thanks so much for watching! I haven't tried it, but I'm guessing so. I think it will work because sprouted lentils are soaked, and are sort of halfway between a lentil and a vegetable, right? Well, I've blended vegetables (red peppers, kale, and others) with my soaked lentils to make this recipe, and it worked just fine, so I'm guessing your ready-made mix of lentils and vegetables should work just the same. The cooking time may vary, you might have to fuss with it a bit -- I usually do when I mix stuff in -- but it always comes out wonderfully! Praise God through Christ Jesus for the wonderful lentil and for giving us such an easy way to share with one another! ❤✝ ❤

I am recuperating from a knee procedure and youtube has become my best friend as I can watch it on my TV I was very happy to find you because I can't eat gluten and have many food allergies. I miss bread, but refuse to pay the outrageous gluten free bread prices so this will be a great recipe to make and so healthy. I definitely will make it. Would I be able to make up more batter at one time and keep it in the refrigerator and use it over say 4-5 days or make more bread at one time and freeze? When my favorite Indian Restaurant can open again, I will finally have something to replace the naan bread. Just in case readers read this after 2020, my favorite restaurant is closed due the the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hi, Judy! Yes, the batter will definitely keep that long in the fridge. Give it a stir, though, because it will settle. You might also need to add an additional tablespoon or two of water before using it, because it might thicken from sitting. I haven't tried freezing, but I see no reason that you couldn't' freeze it. It might affect the texture a bit, but you can always pop it in the toaster oven for a minute or two to fix that. You can also blend in 1/2 t. curry powder and a clove of garlic with the batter -- it's very delicious that way! I agree -- specialty breads are outrageously expensive! I hope your favorite restaurant opens again soon! Thank you so much for watching, and I pray that your knee recovers quickly and fully. can i make this and put in the oven and use it kind like as a dehydrator 170 degrees ??

Hi, Cri Cri! It's very interesting you have a mouse as your avtar and your name is Cri Cri, because I had a friend who had a pet rat named Cri Cri. That said, to your question: I don't know. I know how to use the oven as a dehydrator: lowest temp, put the handle of a wooden spoon to keep the door from shutting all the way, right? But would this work. It seems like it should. It seems, depending on the degree to which you dehydrate it, it would be something like the pan version, still soft throughout so you can roll it, or it would be a cracker, which would still be good. Where you could run into trouble is getting it dry enough to peel it off the parchment, so you might have to go for cracker. It would have to be done experimentally, as I can't be sure. If you try it, please let me know if it works and how it comes out! Praise God through Christ Jesus for ways like this to swap ideas and share with one another! ❤✝❤

You could do that! I kind of like the mix of crispy and soft. The softer part is a bit more stable and supportive, while the crispy portions have less integrity, so if it were all crispy, it could be unstable under food and just crunch down into a mess, if that makes sense! But you could flip it and cook it a few more minutes on that side. Thanks for watching, Brenda!

I can still gain quite a bit of weight eating only very healthy foods , but at least I am not compromising my health doing so, as I don't ever gained too much weight. Another great plan is Chef AJ's Ultimate Weight Loss. Her plan is excellent for volume eaters. She has a book called The Secrets to Ultimate Weight Loss , and it is very good with excellent recipes. Hi, Luisa! I don't think so, unless you have a silpat or something like that. It needs to be super nonstick. Thanks for watching!

@LivingLambsVeganKitchen
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheLuisa48 You can! You might find you need a little more water (but only, like, 1 or 2 T) to get the correct consistency, because the skins of the green lentils absorb more water. I hope you enjoy it!

Tried it. Stuck like glue to my non-stick pan, and then to my oiled cast iron one. Disaster.

Rats. Someone below commented it works well in well-seasoned cast iron. One thought: If you don't cook them long enough, they will stick regardless of the pan. That said, I have posted a baked version, as well, that you only need parchment for. It's less fiddly, too, and you can do the whole batch at once. Thanks for watching and reporting back, raedwulf!

I can almost guarantee you you need to season your pans. There are lots of videos about the proper way to season a pan. Especially cast iron. Cast iron works wonderfully if it is well cared for. But even if you've been abusing it and washing with dish soap or letting it rust you can still rejuvinate it completely.

Beware!!!! Uncooked soaked (over 10 hours) red lentils in baked flatbread caused me at least 2 unpleasant and scary side effects for 2 days!

Hi, Daria! I would definitely stay away from them, then! I consider them cooked in this recipe -- you cook them in the pan, like a pancake -- but it might not be for you. Praise God through Christ Jesus for the huge variety of foods we have to choose from! ❤✝❤

You haven't mastered the various cooking times? How about you master it first, then make the video? In my opinion, this was a disaster, with one side crisp and visibly burnt, while the other side is soft. Maybe you should increase the quantity of lentils and water, put it in a quality sheet pan, invest in a new sheet of parchment paper, and cook it in the oven, rather than a toaster oven.
