You would need to run the engine and compare tear downs for internal wear. Thats where you will see the amsoil out perform the rest

As a potential SX190 owner, your youtube channel is very helpful for all about yamaha boats, especially SX190. Thank you so much, Capt. Leon.

Hey that's great to hear Kool6123! Creating these videos are work but they are helpful to many and that is the intent. I'm still loving my SX190, 9 seasons in. Hope you end up with one, or any Yamaha model one day. Be well and thanks for watching!

Great video Leon, im also in NY, same waters on long island sound off New Rochelle, i run the same exact motor from yamaha on a jet ski though. I may try Ams oil just to change it up from the yamaha lube along with am ams oil fuel additive and see if theres any real change. Great video though!! 👍

Thanks Sam. Yeah no harm in giving it a shot, except for the expense. It's so expensive now. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Engine temp comparison? Been using Amsoil in my motorcycles and vehicles for years in Florida with almost magical results. Noisy Harley valve strain goes silent and all engine temps run cooler especially on the R1. A quality Full synthetic oil is the way to go, plus look at the amsoil torcher tests when they purposely overheat an engine. It’s the best insurance if your engine overheats if the cooling system on the boat is compromised. Great video!
@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore2 жыл бұрын
Now you got me thinking...perhaps there are additional benefits to Amsoil I did not consider. I don't have a way to check engine temp unfortunately. All good points!

Happy 4th Cap- thanks for the video. Got my new 22 AR195 and have viewed several of your videos before. I was giving strong consideration to using AMSOiL based on one of your other videos. This “test” does help some. Last point, i was told once you switch to synthetic, not supposed to go back. Only knock i have on yamalube, is it looks pretty thin. Wear/breakdown worries me. Thoughts?
@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore2 жыл бұрын
So for starters we are not sure what yamalube is, but likely at least a synthetic blend. Beyond that, the inability to not got back after using synthetic oil is no longer relevant, that was a thing before additives were introduced into all oils. Yamalube does feel thinner, but I'm trying to have faith in the Yamaha engineers that they know their oil is ok and good for their engines. All great points, thanks for watching Andy!
@squeaky612 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The Yamaha engineers know what they’re doing… trust me and don’t try to outsmart the people who designed it.
@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore Жыл бұрын
@everyday tenor makes sense to me. I will say I recently spoke to a rep/tech who has attended Yamaha schools for techs. While the formula of Yamalube is not made public, he did tell me it's a blend, not 100% synthetic. Interesting. Thanks for watching!

Hey Capt, I recommend you try (if you haven't already) Yamaha ring free plus fuel additive to improve power and engine efficiency. Especially if your running on regular octane gas with eth. I put some in every tank of gas all summer.

@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore2 жыл бұрын
@@douglasmontgomery6315 sorry about that. It’s an SX190, naturally aspirated 87 octane stock engine. It’s top speed measured with gps is closer to 44, the Yamaha speedo is off by a few. No engine mods. I’m at sea level and at cooler temps which helps.

I’ve run Amsoil, but just can’t justify the cost in my diesel truck… 16quarts every oil change. I think Amsoil just makes you feel better, like you’re taking the best care of your baby…. Most important thing is regular maintenance up all. Thanks again for the great video.

Hay Cap, so I have a AR 190 and it only hits 38-39mph tops. Did you do something to make your Yamaha hit the 50s limit?
@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore2 жыл бұрын
No Munoz, my boat is all stock. Not sure what year you have but the newer hull design which came out in 2019 or so is supposedly slower. Mine is a 2014. Also being at lower elevation helps. I'm at sea level.

Wow that is pretty awesome speed at 1700ft elevation the best I could getwas 42mph 7500rpm and now Im at 4900ft elevation I only see 35mph 7000rpm. I would imagine that the Amsoil probably stays in good standing for a longer period of time.
