Deadly Redback spiders are the most awesome killer spiders. They are a close relative to the Black Widow spider. Week 5 see's more spider egg sacs and more spiders attacking spiders. I introduce the very dangerous White-Tailed spider. Many people tell me this spider is a predator of the Redback spider. Maybe these people will re-think their info to me after watching this video. I also introduce a really strange rock bug that I call Gonzo. If you know the Muppets there is a character with a long nose and hopeless attitude. This crazy critter looks like Gonzo and acts like Gonzo. I'm sure my audience can identify this bug as it almost steals the show. A skink was killed by the Redback spiders during the week and that will be studied by the week 5 timelaspse video. Like week 4 this was a complex week of deadly spider activity and feeding. The Redback spider (Latrodectus hasseltii) is a species of venomous spider indigenous to Australia. It is a member of the cosmopolitan genus Latrodectus, the widow spiders. The adult female is easily recognised by her spherical black body with a prominent red stripe on the upper side of her abdomen and an hourglass-shaped red/orange streak on the underside. Females have a body length of about 10 millimetres (0.4 in), while the male is much smaller, being only 3-4 mm (0.12-0.16 in) long. Mainly nocturnal, the female Redback lives in an untidy web in a warm sheltered location, commonly near or inside human residences. It preys on insects, spiders and small vertebrates that become ensnared in its web. It kills its prey by injecting a complex venom through its two fangs when it bites, before wrapping them in silk and sucking out the liquefied insides. Male spiders and spiderlings often live on the periphery of the female spiders' web and steal leftovers. Other species of spider and parasitoid wasps prey on this species. The Redback is one of few arachnids which usually display sexual cannibalism while mating. The sperm is then stored in the spermathecae, organs of the female reproductive tract, and can be used up to two years later to fertilise several clutches of eggs. Each clutch averages 250 eggs and is housed in a round white silken egg sac. The Redback spider has a widespread distribution in Australia, and inadvertent introductions have led to established colonies in New Zealand, Japan, and in greenhouses in Belgium.
The redback is one of the few spider species that can be seriously harmful to humans, and its preferred habitat has led it to being responsible for the large majority of serious spider bites in Australia.

A Person! as a person who loves plants more so carniverous vining and weird plants ive NEVER seen anyone who owns said plants say over eating is a bad thing in fact the opposite and the venus wouldnt catch much since its prey would have to be attracted to it and even my venus when put outside it catchs a lot of bugs and as such as exploded with growth from all the nutrients you could claim the same thing about pitcher plants and i have one thats full of bumblebees wasps flys ect and that pitcher is still alive and healthy and so is the plant what WILL kill the plant in that tank however is the lack of humidity and water since venus are a type of bog plant the dirt requires to be kept very moist if not having the pot its in sitting in 1/4th the pot in water changing the water every week or so when you rewater the rest of the pot

My friends uncle had a trailer in the garden with bug blinds, must of got in the door walking in. I woke up and see it then it panic bit me and darted off. Made me sick and dizzy got a mole on my chest now and when I went back to England I had like impetigo which kept moving around my body for about 2 years and I felt run down. Had to have antibiotics about three times. I'm lucky seeing what effects it has on other people.

I want to start off by saying that I really enjoy this series. It is fascinating, entertaining, sometimes awesome (flamethrower), funny ("Do not ever attempt to keep these deadly spiders as pets... I'd like to show you my deadly pet spiders!"), and there is something cool about watching somebody learn about something through observation. I greatly encourage you to keep it going, possibly restarting with the knowledge you obtain about containing them, or even studying different spiders altogether. If the area around your home seems to have a red-back infestation, I would highly recommend putting together a similar container together with daddy long-legs inside, to get them to breed so that there are many of them, as there tend to not be very many red-backs where there are a lot of "daddy long-legs"... but you have to have the right kind. There are many types of "daddy long-leg" Species. There are "Opiliones", or "Harvestmen"; "Pholcidae", or "cellar spiders"; and then "crane flies". Harvestmen are oftentimes mistaken for spiders; but they are, in fact, not. If you put any species of Harvestmen into a spider tank, they will most likely die. Now, the family known as "cellar spiders" ARE actual spiders, many of which would be quite capable of killing other spiders like red-backs. They are the ones you want. Don't even think about crane flies. XD The "Giant daddy long-leg" or "Pholcus phalangioides" is a cellar spider that is known to prey upon red-back spiders. It's light weight and extra long legs help it to confuse the red-back when it is on it's web, and also helps it to keep it's distance. They are also known as "long-bodied cellar spiders" or "skull spiders", because apparently they slightly resemble a human skull (I don't quite see it). They need a warm and relatively dry environment, and are considered to be completely harmless to humans. They tend to prey upon spider species that are harmful to humans, which is quite nice. I'm not sure exactly where you would find one in Australia, but good luck! XD

Australia's white-tailed spiders are actually KNOWN to catch and kill red back spiders. So.. That spider might actually make a difference in the tank.
