There's money there no doubt. One high grade can swing value immensely, but all that takes additional expense and vetting the cards worth grading. I'd say the collection is probably worth around 25-30k, 12-15k short sell, but if you took the time to grade vintage $100+ mints or better you could squeeze 35-45k out of everything

It’s weird how a lot of these people who find their massive old collections let them go to millionaire streamers and KZbinrs who have multi million dollar collections for pennies on the dollar. Rather than someone who would pay closer to the value that would actually enjoy and display it, now they’ll be categorically filed away and never seen.

not even selling to people that would enjoy it. They could sell this stuff to a smaller seller at a con or something and likely get at least 65% of the total value. If I was in the market to buy collections I would of bought all of that for 70% and that gives me 30-50% return on my investment. Since some stuff could be sold for higher than market depending on condition etc...

18:20 My mom brought two of these for me from a trip to Germany. The city one and the forest one. I added more mini pokemons to them by buying pokemon lollipops (there was a pokemon figure at the top of the stick, under the hard candy) and my dad cut them off for me so I could play with them. I still have those here at my very own house in my work room where I keep my collection. This video brought so many memories from my childhood as well. I think I am about to open the box of my pokemon items right after watching this. Anyone else here in their 30's and still valuing these memories?

Oh, what a nostalgia trip. I remember having those cards…unfortunately I threw all my base unlimited cards away and gym leader, team rocket sets when we moved. My parents was complaining that it’s taking up space. Oh well, thanks for sharing what an amazing nostalgia trip.

Not many adults get to experience their childhood in this way. The things I would do to locate my old binder my mother sold for 50 bucks in a garage sale after I moved out at 18 back in 2007. It would be a dream come true.

This and crash bandicoot were my first games for the PS1. Watching this video brings back so many good memories. I remember it blowing my 8 year old mind when you could customise and draw your own logo on the hood of the cars! Quality game.

Also, the metal coins were part of a game that was made where they would spin and whatever it lands on that was in the direction of the other coin was what happened for your action. I used to have a bunch of those. I just can't remember how the spinning worked for it, if it was with fingers or a spinner of sorts

Awesome video and thanks for recording this. These type of collections (not just Pokémon) are becoming harder and harder to find. Love the stories behind him playing at the bookstore and in the league. Id imagine this would be hard for him to sell as it seems a good chunk of his life for a few years was Pokémon. Hopefully he kept the checklist he was making with his mom as that is priceless.

I have collected quite a bit of cards, box sets, and other Pokemon related items over the years, for my Son when he was a little boy. I spent thousands of dollars on my collection. Glad I did it back then, as I couldn't repeat this collection at today's market values. English, Japanese, Spanish, and German Pokemon cards. It was fun to see my Son opening booster packs back then. Luckily, I also still have sealed items, too. It was all worth it.

Lucky. I traded some mechanical pencils, pens, and erasers for digimon figures, then traded those for a machop card and a ponyta. Then i traded other stuff for more cards and had ro keep trading. I wish i grew up a bit more wealthier.

Dude was rude to show up with one hand to offer the collection. Knows his stuff, but doesn’t know about what a complete set looks like. When there was gaps in the knowledge, it was glaringly obvious. Also the lack of respect for cards that don’t hold a high value. Every card has value from these sets. You only care for the cards that people pay higher for. The complete sets are amazing. Good job keeping everything mint. Memories came flooding back from these items!

I still have all my old pokemon cards from when i was a kid, my pokemon items are the one thing i have left from my childhood and i've been super protective of them since i plan on keeping them and continuing to add to my collection. My collection of older cards are nowhere near as extensive as this though. I'd get a few pack for my birthday or Christmas or on special occasions but that was it. this would have been my childhood dream. I feel like this collection belongs in some kind of exbit on display.
