----- I took ashwaganda for a long time, 3..4 days per week. I liked the effect on psychology and regulation of sex drive. However, and that's a big one: It caused inflammation of the liver, AST got as high as 40. When I took it off, all other things roughly the same, AST returned to 28 after 8 months. So, if you start taking it, observe your liver enzymes...ashwaganda is toxic to the liver becareful not to take too much !

Get 20 different herbs, and take 2 of them each day, rotate them so that you have something cor every day but each herb is only taken once every 10 days. This way you will minizme tolerance and maximize benefits.

I've been battling with general anxiety disorder and ADHD since forever. I am 38 years old male now, married with two kids. I took SSRI (Zoloft) for 23 years to battle my anxiety (general anxiety often perpetuated by my ADHD thought processing). It helped but numbed me down, I got "flat emotions", indifference, apathy and sexual problems as well. Wellbutrin add-on was beneficial for the sexual problems but it didn't take away the emotional flatness. Later on, I was diagnosed with ADHD (with out hyperactivity) and started vyvanse (a live safer, but needs to be cycled right in order to avoid tolerance). I have now weaned off the SSRI, but the withdrawal was horrible. I stumbled off on aswandganda and it made my weaning off 1000x more tolerable. I am now SSRI-free is since 1 year, and I take 500 mg aswandganda extract each day. Couldn't be more happier. So 500 mg aswandganda, 150 mg wellbutrin and 50 mg vyvanse (one day per week I dont take, due to avoiding tolerance, during summer vacation I also skip vyvanse) is a very stableing protocol for me against ADHD symptoms and anxiety.

I’ve been taking Ashwagandha supplements for over 4 years now, 400 mg daily in the morning. I noticed a marked improvement in my chronic anxiety with this dose. It’s good to know there are other potential benefits as noted in the video. I am 71 years old and otherwise healthy but suffer from mild atherosclerosis. I took antidepressants for a number of years and I attribute my cardiovascular disease at least in part to stress, along with being overweight and pre diabetic, which I have corrected using a low carb diet and exercise.

@@LeonidKimMDI have tried Ashwaganda with minimal effects and I believe I generally have high cortisol levels. after a lot of other research I found another adaptogen called seriphos which is a proprietary form of phospholated serine and along with magnesium found it to be significantly more effective in lowering stress/anxiety levels and measurably improves sleep. I use a sleep tracking device and I have determined that it increases the quality of my sleep significantly more than ahswaganda. I think it's very underrated as far as adaptogen go as Ashwaganda gets all the hype, although I think that has some cult following and many of the Amazon reviews seem to mention that it was their doctor recommending it to them. more recently I quit caffeine completely after many years of needing 0.5 or more a day to be productive and found that anxiety has dropped much further.

I was pretty excited about taking Ashwagandha when I quickly discovered it did actually help me getting to sleep. I have an organic powder that I’d drink as a tea (1/2 tsp) every night at the same time. It was approximately the 5th night shortly after drinking it, my BP went up and I got pretty bad lower abdominal cramping. While using the powder I didn’t need to take my antidepressant for sleep so I wouldn’t think there’d be a medication interaction. Maybe pill form is better digested and I should consider that. Thankfully the discomfort passed after about half an hour. It was concerning though.

L-theanine completely eradicated the sleep paralysis I’ve had about 4 nights a week for the last decade, and also my sleep walking & night terrors that I experienced a few nights a year. Ashwaganda (specifically ksm-66) helped me stop binge eating once I increased my dosage to 300 mg twice daily. Oh, and the ashwaganda helped me stay asleep for at least 7-8 hours a night as opposed to the 3-6 hours I was getting a night. I came to this conclusion because I tested the L-theanine and ashwaganda several weeks apart before deciding to take both of them together. Love it. Personally, I take Nature’s Bounty. A 45 day supply is around $16 at Walmart. No need for expensive ksm-66 ashwaganda. As long as the back of label shows ksm-66, you can rest assured the cheap stuff is going to work as well as the expensive stuff. And yes, I’ve taken expensive ashwaganda that said ksm-66. There was no difference in benefits.

I hope the l-Theanine you use is the Suntheanine. It is the best, the regular l-Theanine is inexpensive, cheap & not the best by far.. Google and learn, thank you. Joseph. Oh for sleep you can add a dab of castor oil on each eye lid 30 min., before bed or take a chamomile tea bag (not used) and inhale 10 times per each nostril. Last inexpensive thing is Essential oil, called: Good Night Oil, take 1 Tsp of water (in any little cap or small plate) and 2 drops of essential oil, mix, then apply a little on each wrist and a dab on you nose (bridge) that way you can inhale that and sleep. If anyone has mental illness I may be able to help. No fee at all.

I am only replying to your query Regarding Panic Attacks as I do know from my own past history of having them . The Panic attacks I experienced were horrible , thought I was going to die of heart attack I was scared to breath properly really scary lasted hours on end for years it went on . Until one day I saw a stand in psychiatrist at my appointment THANK GOD not the same one I’d seen for over 2 yrs , (I’d been on anti depressants the whole time seeing that one ) but the stand in said to me THERE WAS NOT ONE PERSON EVER IN THE WORLD TO DIE OF A PANIC ATTACK NOT A SINGLE CASE EVER 😳 !! Then she told me WHEN YOU EXPERIENCE ANOTHER PANIC ATTACK …….. JUST CONCENTRATE ON YOUR BREATHING NOTHING ELSE BUT YOUR BREATHING AND ALL TJE PANIC ATTACK SYMPTOMS WILL STOP HAPPENING !!! The panic attacks will be over very quickly AND SHE WAS RIGHT !! It’s all down to the breathing going off track that caused my symptoms to escalate . After that woman told me I wasn’t going to die during a panic attack I only had one episode which lasted a few minutes . I focused on my breathing deep breath in slowy breathing out . IN TEN YEARS IVE NEVER HAD ANOTHER ONE TO DEAL WITH . I hope this helps you & anyone else & please share the info to help stop others having these horrible SYMPTOMS thank you . Oh I weaned off the anti depressants too 1 every other day for 2 wks then 1 every 2 days for 2 wks etc . GOD BLESS ALL

I just started taking this a week ago. I suffer from anxiety and always have high stress levels. I started working out about a year ago and I still have anxiety issues. So when I started taking ashwagandha I found my stress and anxiety has gone down to near zero. The underlining anxiety i always feel is gone. I been in SSRIs and nothing works as well as this stuff does. Im actually pretty upset with the medical establishment for hiding this from me. I thought there was no hope. My doctors just want to pump me full of drugs and its sad tbh.

This was very, very helpful. Thank you Doctor. I started using a vegan tablet from of this herb 5 weeks ago after about two weeks, I noticed that I am more alert, have more energy and do not "cycle" in the middle of the night which is anxiety related. I haven't had any unpleasant side effects, I am happier, less stressed out and my libido is coming back. I am menopausal, and menopause has played havoc with my metabolism and my ability to sleep at night. Once I hit the 60 day mark, I will take a one month break and decide whether or not to continue to supplement. Other research I read too is that this herb is an adaptogen and a break from it is a good idea.

Thanks for this informative video on ashwagandha. I started it a couple months ago hoping it would help me, It did then after 1 month on it, and it ramped up my autoimmune disease and it spiraled it has been the longest flare up I ever had still going (but I knew taking it could trigger my autoimmune disease and it does say not to take if you have an autoimmune disease since it buffs up your immune system), so if you have an autoimmune disease please use carefully.

@@DJPeachyful I would talk to your doctor I have sarcoidosis which has affected my small intestines, skin, eyes, lungs, thyroid, and liver. Ashwagandha basically jump start your immune system so if you are on immunosuppressants or should be or your colitis is autoimmune I wouldn't take ashwagandha. The dose you would need to be effective at would trigger an immune response and could aggravate your autoimmune disease, but I would talk it over with your doctor. Also for colitis I would caution carnivore diet especially if you consume high amount of red meat. I hope you find a solution.

After a severe car crash, being injured & unable to work I was put on Xanax for PTSD, which helped tremendously bc I would panic if I traveled by vehicle, my fiancé always drove, it would calm me down within 15 minutes. Long story short, a previous doctor wouldn’t prescribe it when my former doctor retired, I was told that it caused dementia (😂) after much research, I decided to try Ashwagandha, bc my anxiety is so high again. our weakness in western medicine is we neglect thousands of years of research and knowledge that comes from naturopathic treatments; i just hope to make sense of the best and evidence-based ways to treat patients, and bridge the gap; there’s snake oil salesmen on both sides, so sometimes it’s hard to sift through the noise

Appreciate you, Dr. Kim for the same reasons. Many US allopathic Drs dismiss out of hand what they haven't been trained in and I appreciate your acknowledgement of 100's of years of research, effective use, and history in other countries. I have a Dr who immediately dismisses anything he sees as Functional Medicine - says it's not at all valid, and it's sad because I have gotten great results with supplementation, results that he applauded, then when he found out what I was doing, was not too approving any more. It's sad, we need more allopathic drs like you!

Im a supplement freak kinda. WIth that in mind, i found a perfect mix for myself. 5g of creatine, 5g of glutamine and 660mg ashwagadha, and i mix it all into my protein shake. I cant remember the last time i had muscle cramps, muscle fatigue, energy deficiency etc.. I use it mostly as a post-workout mix. I cant confirm the mental benefits as im not taking it every day, but id say this thing works. Came across ashwa randomly and jumped to see if there were any medical trials, and was amazed by the results and jumped right on to buy it. When something is medically backed up, you shouldnt think twice to try it out. Same goes for creatine, its been proven to help in sports, so its also a no brainer.
