I’ve officially made the jump from the Mark IV to the 5153 Stealth for the high gain tones on my live preset. I was running both for a bit and found myself favoring the 5153. Great playing as always mate! Love the Ragdoll stuff. Thanks for giving back to the Fractal community. 🤘🔥🤘

I always go down rabbit holes of checking out all kinds of high end amp brands, boutique stuff, vintage modded and I keep coming back to the 5150 and versions everytime 😭. I don’t care if it’s overused it’s just what high gain should sound like in my head ❤

Honestly if you look at the amps used to record most bands metal or really rock 90% if not more use a 5150 It’s like the sound we know. And yes I can go down the rabbit hole quite often and I always make a 5150 tone Though I do like using other amps. Just depends on what I’m playing. Either way have fun fractal bros

I always forget how well the block letter 5150 just kinda works in most heavy situations with minimal messing around. My personal favourite is the FAS 6160, tho. Seems to have a bit more muscle compared to the other ones, although I agree with you, the new Stealth models seem to bring that Marshall-esque chaos into the mix quite nicely.
@LeonTodd6 ай бұрын
Yeah there's a reason they're classics. Stealth definitely has a bit more Marshall hair!

Turning up the presence just changed my whole Fractal (FM3) experience for the better. I don't know why I never thought to turn it up so high. I tried it on other amp models as well and they sound so much better to me. The "wet blanket" is now gone, and I no longer need an EQ block. The other tone controls are all 12 o'clock'ish. I'm glad I watched this video!

I’ve had a 5150 (script) since late ‘94, I also owned an original 5150iii for a couple of years. The FAS models don’t give me what those amps did/do. They both lack a low end “heft” that those amps (the ones I own/owned) had, mine are much warmer sounding, the FAS models seem too present in the higher mids. Again this is compared to my personal amps, the FAS models may be spot on to the specimens they modeled.

Hello, Leon. Great sound and playing. Trying to figure out drop C. What I've seen is CGCFAD. So the Low E goes up to C? How do you keep track of shapes from standard tuning? Guess its just all new shapes and note positions? Cheers

Low E goes DOWN to C. Think of Drop C as drop D tuning, then everything tuned down 2 more steps

You mentioned metalcore, and you're an Aussie - any thoughts on the early Parkway Drive tones and how to get there? I gather it's a 5150 + Tubescreamer + EMG pups situation, but any tips? They play rather fast and heavy, so need tightness in the tone for sure.

From everything i've seen and read about parkway they're pretty meat and potatoes. I imagine the way they actual record and mix everything has a big say in how huge it sounds!

I never quite "got" the 5150 sound, always preferred Marshall, Friedman, Diezel etc - but this is selling me! Gotta try it..! And thanks for the heaps of priceless Fractal knowledge you so readily give out, I've learned so much from these vids since getting into the Fractal universe a couple years ago. Wanted to ask, what gauge strings you use on your drop C? Sounds dope!
@LeonTodd6 ай бұрын
Elixir Nanoweb 10-52 on this guitar. The 5150 really shines when you double track rhythms IMO, all that scuzz and fizz gets focused in and takes up just the right amount of space
