It does not matter what a "model prisoner" LVH may have become while incarcerated. The fact remains that, like CM, TW, SA and PK, she should never have been allowed to live long enough to become that model prisoner to begin with. The original death sentences should have been carried out. As Doris Tate said when she was grilling TW during one of his parole bids, "When does Sharon come up for parole? Are Sharon, Jay, Abigail, Voytek, Steve, Leno and Rosemary supposed to just "walk out of their graves" because you're now 'sorry'?" So yeah, go sell bleeding-heart logic somewhere else. These crimes were so far beyond heinous that even the most drug-addled and brainwashed hippie-chick knew or ought to have known the horror she was visiting upon her innocent victims.

They never should have let this woman out!!! She was old enough to know not to stab a dead body. That dead body was abused!! She stabbed a corpse 16 times! Does this make sense? No!! She is a liar!! She killed by being present.. An accessorie. She was present and watching!! She was grown!! Man , she was an adult. Would u want your momma stabbed? She stabbed someone that had a family!!! She caused a family to cry, man!!!

Strange that Rosemary LaBianca's daughter advocated hard for Tex Watson's release when he actually killed her mother, but not LVH's release.

I've heard somewhere that she had befriended Watson a few years before the murders. Even so, befriending the killer of her mother is gross. Forgiveness is one thing, but being friends with someone who killed a person in one's family is outrageous.

Manson found a bunch of broken children used LSD yo break them the rest of the way. He manipulated them to the point they didn't know where he ended and they began. They all had the feeling of not being loved by theirs families he gave them the "love" they didn’t think they were worth of. Almost 54 years after her arrest Leslie is far from that girl. She's where she's supposed to be.

I understand why people won’t want her released but she controlled by Manson and I think we should always talk about cult members differently than people like Ted Bundy or Richard Ramirez who thoroughly enjoyed their crimes

I personally think if any of them should get out, it should be her. She actually WAS out for a while in the 70s for a seperate trial and even that was a hung jury the first round

Thanks for the comment your my first KZbin comment so here’s a cookie 🍪It is tough situation for sure. I understand why some people feel she shouldn’t have gotten out. I believe the parole board made the right decision. Hopefully she stays out of trouble and is a productive member of society.

@@ZampaProductions She's been in prison for 53 years. She has a pefect record in prison, the parole board said she is completely rehabilitated! She's been in no fights, she hasn't stolen anything, she hasn't torn anything up in her cell, she hasn't shanked anybody. If she was still violent she would have committed crimes in prison. She has a clean record, whereas Manson has broked every rule in the book, he has a terrible record in prison!

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. I believe he is up for parole again this year unless I missed the hearing already. Maybe he will get out when he goes to his next parole hearing. If he does get out hopefully he becomes a productive citizen.

Leslie was of a different ilk. It wasn’t that she was violent it was that she was pathologically passive, led, some arrested development along with what LSD did to her. She froze when she was in rosemarys bedroom and only after Watson delivered the fatal stab wounds a dying rosemary was handed over to Leslie by Watson ordering her “ to do something” so Leslie couldn’t blackmail him and Krenwinkle. Dead people don’t bleed since heart stops pumping blood and the 16 stab wounds did not bleed according to pictures in color of the way she was found. Doesn’t matter legally b3cause the penalty for conspiracy for murder is the same as the action of actually killing the victim. I think she felt extreme remorse , could hear it in her voice in the Larry king interviews.

She was drug addicted and she was in a cult. And, she actively participated in the murder of one person - Rosemary LaBianca. Is that a horrible thing? Absolutely. But again, she was drug addicted and in a cult. People with no prior convictions commit murder and sometimes do 10 years....or less. What did she do - 53 years???? She probably should have been out 20 years ago. The woman is truly remorseful, she straightened up and grew up and she's not a threat to anyone.

Leslie is now 74 and will be in a halfway house for a year to prepare her to live in the outside world. She might have to go to a nursing home in a few years.

@chrisruth7057 Well yeah because she didn't wear much makeup in the videos we see in that time in 69 time line, but if so I'm sure she would have looked just as pretty in 69. They all was good looking but they was all in that free nature world .And I'm sure when they hit that prison that didn't help.And then they shaved there heads.When they was doing them interviews on T.V. later on they probably made sure they was in basic makeup to help there look and in a stylist hair cut.A basic makeup look helps any women to look better and they was thin .I think the whole situation is awful and I don't like Charlie M he was a no good crook trying to be a god and used them all by manipulating for he's next meal or to get fame .And he might have not murderd Tate house or Bianca couple .But he did kill before and cut that guys ear off .He was older he knew he could manipulate them with acid .

Leslie is no angel, but I believe she wouldn't have stabbed Mrs. LaBianca if Tex hadn't given her that knife. She didn't seem to get the joy out of it that the others did. She's spent most of her life in prison, and I don't think she will commit murder again. She's being supervised, after all.

A life sentence is 60 years, she served 53 years they would have to let her out if she served 60 but brooks in shawshank served 50 years, Leslie had never drove a car and it's not the same world

She seemed like the one that was the most "sane" in all of the recent videos that I have seen of Manson's girls. The problem is that it happened so long ago that now, it seems everyone is oblivious to the facts of their crimes.

@@cindy7400 thanks for the comment. I looked it up because I wanted to be sure. It was Susan Atkins. She died of brain cancer on September 25th 2009 shortly after being denied parole.

She has more than enough paid her dues. She is not the same person she was. I do not have a problem with her being paroled and people should leave her alone

Depends. Maybe when you so carelessly take innocent lives, your dues are only paid on this realm when you die….be it execution, or be it natural causes from behind bars. Maybe she is not the same person, which is great, maybe her next life will be easier on her….but didn’t she give up the right to live amongst “us”. Didn’t she give up the right to her 1 life, when she took multiple lives?

Maybe. Maybe you are right. Maybe I am right. But who are we to judge. I just feel she's paid her dues and deserves to be released. But that's my opinion. I could be wrong

Thanks for the comment and I agree she served the sentence she received. The parole board decided she had paid her debt to society although I do understand why people don’t believe she should have been paroled she was. Hopefully for her sake and the sake of others she shows them she made the right decision if not she’ll be back in prison.

I should had known that Leslie Van Houten that she got on Parole and they let her out. I mean she was one of those followers who stabbed Rosemary n' she stabbed Leno after Tex carved WAR on his stomach. I bet it had to do with the 1997 Parole hearings.

actually, according to Van Houten, she only stabbed Rosemary. She was holding a pillow case over Rosemary's head in the bedroom when Leno was being killed.

Agree with you. I lived in Chatsworth from 1964 to 1974 and Spahn Ranch was 1 mile from where we lived. My brother and cousin saw the Manson Family from a hike they went on in Chatsworth Park South, before the murders were committed. They saw the ranch from up on the hillside and saw all these young teen girls and a man on a horse (who later they realized was Manson) who waved them to come on down. They decided to turn around and go back home. I've seen every interview with Leslie Van Houton and in one of her interviews discussing the murders she had what they call a 'micro-expression',she appeared to have enjoyed the murders, t stating, " there was no mercy". She says this comment and her whole face looks like she enjoyed the power she held over the victim. Point being, she has, whatever element of evil inside that it takes to "KILL" another human being, inside her. No amount of "modeling" on her part, "Model behavior" matters. Those people are dead and not going to walk out of their graves. She should not be allowed to to walk out of prison. She's lucky to be alive.

So no personal responsibility. I’m not even saying that she shouldn’t have got out. But can you really blame it on someone else and say they were under someone’s control, our laws aren’t really written that way. You pretty much have to take responsibility for yourself and if you choose to become a part of something that is Bad or evil that is a decision that will affect your future. If you play a stupid game you win a stupid prize. Again, I understand how long it’s been and maybe she should be free by now because obviously she was young and impressionable and on drugs and she’s not the same person now. But the law can’t be so vague. You have to take personal responsibility, I don’t know how you get around that. We’ve all had a bunch of negative influences and people that peer pressured us or pulled us into things that we didn’t feel comfortable doing or didn’t wanna do. But at some point, there’s a decision you have to make whether you’re going to be with people people like that or or not. Whether you’re gonna do something wrong or not. You know inside when you’re doing something wrong. It’s a strange conundrum. You don’t wanna blame her because you say she was under Charlie’s control but then how can you blame Charlie when a lot of people say that he didn’t kill anybody technically. So where does the blame lay?

She was originally sentenced to death in the San Quentin gas chamber but she was reprieved in 71 and got life instead.

I truly appreciate the comment. I did know that before i started filming. I just decided to not talk about the legal battle that brought about her release and just give my genuine reaction to her being released if I ever do a longer video in the future on her or on the Manson family it will for sure be mentioned.

I agree with Leslie being paroled. The wounds she inflicted on Mrs. Labianca we're post mortem. If it had been any body else they would of been paroled 20 yrs. earlier.
