@Englishwithjennifer5 жыл бұрын
All learners are different. Try different approaches and different kinds of activities. Some learn better through conversation. Others are more visual and they need to see the language written out. Most kids like games as long as no one is embarrassed by mistakes. Games are good when everyone cheers for each other and never against someone. Do they have enough vocabulary to tell basic stories yet? This lesson was recorded at our fourth meeting. I've had more than a dozen recording sessions with these ladies. More recently, we each wrote a short story. We read our stories to each other. Can you do something like that? Or did you see what I did on IG? The kids can build a story together. You'll encourage them and put the story in a readable format. Then you all read it aloud. The story can have the grammar they've studied and the grammar they need to activate. You can also try some activities that involve movement, props, and/or drawing. Get creative! Make it fun. If they're not relaxed, they won't make a lot of progress. Good luck! You might find something you like here: englishwithjennifer.wordpress.com/

I must confess to not always pronouncing all four syllables when I say 'usually.' Four syllables in 'usually? Yes, there are: Us - u-a-lly.. I would usually say it like this ''use-illy' The subject of syllables opens up at least a series of possible lessons. #Syllables: Are units of pronunciation which have one vowel sound, with or without surrounding consonants forming the whole or a part of a word. For example, there are two syllables in 'higher' and three syllables in 'fiasco.'
@Englishwithjennifer5 жыл бұрын
I think both pronunciations are fine. Most dictionaries will list the longer one, but Dictionary.com recognizes both: www.dictionary.com/browse/usually An important lesson in one's pronunciation studies is how to count syllables. ;)

Hi ma'am First of all, thank u for suggesting getyarn.io And i have realised something that americans focus on completed action while speaking For eg- If you r waiting for ur mom and your mom comes then u would say "where did u come from?" Right?? Because action of coming is completed but in british english we may say " where have you come from?" So if i am right , can i say if i know that action is completed, i can use past tense without thinking.
@Englishwithjennifer5 жыл бұрын
I might use the simple past in that situation, but I'd use the verb "be": Where were you? It's perfectly fine in American English to ask, "Where have you been?" The idea is that you've been waiting, so you wonder what was happening up to this point that prevented an earlier arrival.

"Used to" + (do) is for past habits: I used to sing in the shower, but I don't do that anymore. Would do" can also be used for common past actions, often memories: My grandmother would sing to me when I was a little girl. @Englishwithjennifer5 жыл бұрын
When you learn any verb, you need to learn the grammar. Collocations are set phrases. They're standard. Use a learner's dictionary to confirm the standard patterns: www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/regard The verbs you listed in the first group have to do with how you perceive or treat someone or something. AS explains the manner. The other verbs pair with infinitives. You're identifying or establishing someone's role.

Grammar and vocabulary can be learned through direct and indirect methods. If you're studying on your own, you can use tutorials and textbooks for explanations and practice exercises. You can also read and listen to grammar to become familiar with grammar in real situations. When I taught in the classroom, I used the assigned textbook, but I also added my own examples and activities. In these lessons with these ladies, we mostly learn grammar through conversation that's full of repetition so that patterns can become familiar. I like the Azar-Hagen series. If you can get copies with an answer key, that would be a good resource.

Don't laugh over and over again

Laughter can happen for many reasons. Students sometimes laugh because they're nervous or embarrassed. Sometimes we laugh because we find the situation funny.

It's okay. I know there are times when Flavia and Andreia don't understand every word. The key is to understand my main meaning. You then learn the skills of asking for another explanation and trying to piece together the main meaning from what you understand. The goal in this lesson is to feel more comfortable with adverbs of frequency (How often? >> always, usually, sometimes...) and making sentences with WHEN (When I wake up, I always check my email.)
