Thank you for this comprehensive look into the American anti-Apartheid movement. I learned a lot. I’ve been to South Africa and can say that it’s a beautiful country. May Randall Robinson and Nelson Mandela rest in power.

All too painful memories having lived through this period of struggle in South Africa, for equality and freedom. Having racially segregated, benches, toilets, beaches, buses, and schools and universities etc. Being arrested for defiance of the apartheid state and its instruments, at school and university. My grandfather’s brother studied law with Nelson Mandela, to become an Advocate, and we grew up and lived with many of the original struggle stalwarts. I remember 1985 and the convoy of 30 casspir vehicles (armoured personnel carriers) with riot squad police, brandishing shotguns, rubber bullets, tear gas and purple dye water cannons, blocking entry or exit. By strange fate, I share a birthdate with Nelson Mandela. We understand the term apartheid best and see it alive and kicking today and the UN and other countries still exhibit hypocrisy.

When I wrote in a comment that Netanyahu is the head of an apartheid state, my comment was censored and removed. Why is the question. I think most of us know the answer.

they need to stop this kind of movements blaming apartheid when apartheid died long long ago, the time of blaming others for the wrongs of now this day is over, we nearing the end of this world, people only have time ro repent from their own sins and not look for other people's sins , they long time in their graves, God won't save me because of others, he will save me if i repent and look in the mirror at myself

5:10 ish. South Africa became a republic. Republics are only euphemistically a form of democracy because the "rule of the people" is limited to "a few people, but oh, you get to elect some of them." Which is not significantly different from feudalism "but oh, you get to elect the lords and king." People have really low standards when it comes to governance, so settling for "but we get to elect some of them" sounds like heaven by comparison. 15:30 It all sounds like benevolent leaders (read "rulers") valiantly doing great things are how society progresses, but that was the product of decades of protest becoming too hard to ignore. Government primarily serves the ruling class, even if sometimes they throw a bone to everyone else. Only organized mass action forces government to include any amount of meat on the bones they throw (lasting substance rather than empty lip service and token gestures). Even the social democracies of Europe have that problem.
