Thanks for giving this review, I have used it for over a year now on my three cars and many of my friends. I like the tip of using the magic sponge to help clean the surface, and yes prep is just as critical on glass as on paint. I too have found the same problem on doing the double coat on the front windshield. I cheated on a customer's car and just used Speed Shine, it worked great to remove that stubborn last haze. One point for all viewers, the double coat is only recommended on front glass. All others can be just a single layer. Wipers NEVER squeak but then too I clean the wipers on a regular basis. This works a long time for the mere 8.99 cost and one bottle will do many applications. I have tried Aquapel and it is a good alternative but it has a few issues with being only once per instructions. IGL Glass coating is ready to try next in my cycle but need to get a new windshield first (large crack due to flying rocks). One thing to remember with this and all other glass products. When it looks like they are not working, remember to clean your glass soon. Bug splatter slides and removes easily but if in a rain storm the water will cling to anything and refuse to fly away. So if you are expecting another day of rain go ahead and clean the glass the night inside the garage. Then the next day the product will work just like new. If not, all that spray from the road has left the oils and grime on the glass even if your wipers were used. I rarely use mine with the GG Glass Sealant.

I prepped the glass similarly to how Brian did in this video on our '99 Odyssey which is always outside and doesn't get washed during winter months as often as it should. 10 months later,Griot's Glass Sealant is still going strong!

This is my favorite glass protection. Super cheap, super durable, and really easy to apply. I don’t know why it isn’t talked about more over something like Aquapel which is really durable, but probably one of the hardest products I’ve ever found to work with. Glad to see you found GG Glass Sealant as well.

8 months and still beading good. 3 strip washes in 1 day and still beading good. This product holds up surprisingly well. Wipes off crystal clear for me. I did have major wiper chatter, so bad I almost had to cancel my fishing trip. You pretty much need to use something extra heavy duty to get this stuff off the glass. Dupli, Alcohol, glass cleaner. Nothing works. Maybe if you keep at it or more dwell time, but this product is not joke.

meguiar's perfect clarity glass sealant works great this way too. After having decontaminated and cleaned the glass well, spread a coat of glass sealant, and after having a nice mist spread a second coat. Wait 10 to 30min depending on the temperature, and wipe with a damp, warm microfiber. It works wonderfully, a beading of madness. And I like if I have the courage to repeat a second time which makes a total of 4 coats. And it's chemical resistant. From time to time I clean it with meguiar's perfect clarity glass cleaner and that's enough to clean without damaging the protection, or even better with meguiar's D115 rinse free wash and wax which cleans and regenerates the hydrophobic effect! Sometimes a small topper like meguiar's D156 x-press spray wax

This may be a dumb question, but why not clean/polish the glass, then spray something like TEC852 on the glass? Every wash would boost it, as it can be used as a drying aid as well. I personally have gotten better performance from this technique vs applying a legit glass coating like CarPro FlybyForte.

Watching this kind of drove home rinseless washes for me even more. I'm not crazy about leaving that winter road grime/salt on my paint; and sometimes its just too cold to run to the coin-wash. I went to a drive-through car wash like 2 years ago one time and cringed the whole time only to be comforted knowing I'd polish in the spring that year. But surely a rinseless done in a garage or with warm-water on a day without wind would do far less damage to the paint than a drive-through wash. Also allows one to top up with their choice of protection.

Muddy cars always have runoff from the seams and wheel wells. Even with all the rinsing of the wash media, there is always sand, grit, and/or rust particles stuck in the cloth and to a lesser degree foam. The old school bristle brushes didn't hold that stuff, but they were never lubricated enough for gentle finishes.

In my experience it works well until it rains and the wipers start skipping and it pushes a line of product up where the blades stop when they wipe that's with wax and sealants anyway I'm guessing that's what these products have figured out is how to keep it on the glass with blades wiping on it

Griots say the sealant be need to wash and cure after 24-48hrs at lease and you can apply second coat after it cured.. you can use their fine polish and use polisher for a better result and bond to the glass. All the videos you can watch in their youtube channel what he did here were a bit contraindicate with the griots video on how to use their selant product plus the fine polish and how to layered it. It was like their 3in1 ceramic wax you needed to cured first the first layered then apply second coat after 12-24hrs without getting any water or any chemical to properly bond in your paint.

Would be fun and interesting to see a comparison between the common water repellent products in a match up. Maybe on loose window with different testing on them. Chemical resistance and abrasion resistance and the water repellent ability. A blowdryer could be what the wind are against the moving vehical. Just some thoughts

You should see how tore up those cars get. We've had customers that would come through daily - with black vehicles. Even the boss... He usually bought silver vehicles, but in 2011 he got a black Lincoln. He had it in the sun one day, and the sides were grey and dull. Our 21" rocker brushes were bristle, and under lubricated. When the happens, the filaments leave a "waxy/plastic" deposit on the finish that severely dulls it. Like many of our customers, it was a lease, and anyone that has a lease vehicle, seems to care very little about the condition of their paint.

Thank you for sharing this info! Brian, do you have an opinion about the Optimum Opti-Glass coating? I've been using that on customers' cars for a while now and think it works well, but I've been wanting to try GTechniq G1 and the IGL glass coating. Do you think the IGL product is more durable (from wiper blade abrasion, chemical resistance) or more repellent than the offering from Optimum or GTechniq? Maybe in the future you could do some more side-by-side comparisons of glass coatings similar to what you do on paint? I loved the comparison you did recently with a couple glass products. Thank you again!
OMG.Cant believe that people still use that car wash. You might as well bring it through an electric sander. At least Delta sonic does not have those spinning brushes on the side and is way more gentle. I only use it when I absolutely absolutely have to like 2 to 3 times per year that is it.
