I thought this was an incredibly insightful look at the movie, while also fulfilling my need to hear you scream at a screen. I personally would love to see you finish Jujutsu Kaisen in this fashion (since those were the videos that got me to follow your Tiktok) but even if you end up going with other shows I think this is a great format for you. Fun fact: the reason why Rengoku says “ delicious” after every bite, is because samurais would do this to appreciate every bite because they didn’t know when they’re last meal was going to be. So it foreshadowed Rengoku’s death

Tanjiro's motivation *isn't* to avenge his family, though. He's motivated by 1) finding a cure for his sister (which can probably be obtained by beating Muzan) and 2) preventing other families from having to go through what his did (by stopping Muzan). That Muzan gets fucking wrecked in the process of those goals is incidental, Tanjiro's not out here on a vengeance quest -not even against Muzan, who would absolutely deserve it if he was. Also: Nezu is not bloodthirsty. Or, she is, but she's in control of herself.
@DannyMotta

@@DannyMotta not true either, remember, Nezuko even sees demons as family as well. Tanjirou realizes that it’s actually her own will that drives her, not the hypnosis Edit: they even explicitly say this in the anime
@Hivatel

@@DannyMotta That's only partially true. The main source of her control is willpower. The hypnosis is like a last defense in case she loses control.
@sam_sa09
@sam_sa09 2 жыл бұрын
@@DannyMotta it was already established that that hypnosis was not her sole motivation when she started to see tamayo and yushiro as humans when they’re demons. Simply revisiting those small dialogues and plots would go a long way in better understanding characters. I feel like that’s one thing demon slayer does well, the dialogue is almost never meaningless, so it’s only fair that people pay more attention to it.

I had the privilege of watching the movie the first showing the first day it came out. During that last fight. For all of it. The theater was quite. You could hear a pin drop. And that goes to show how this fight makes you feel invested you are rooting that he wins. I read the Manga I knew he didn't survive and yet I was rooting for him to make it.

I went into the movie predicting his death and still, still it shocked me, and Rengoku's death shattered my heart. I will say as a 21 year old guy, I cried in that theater and felt almost as frustrated as Tanjiro. These characters are so well writen and just it was all so well executed, this movie moved me so much and I feel like we got a lot closer to the characters.

Bruh, it only gets better( worse) from here on out. The whole manga feels like one big character study that this genre needed. I legitimately cannot wait to see how the anime expands on the manga. I really liked the half reaction, half analysis format. It didn’t come across as pretentious at all. Spirit is a fantastic movie, not that whole new Netflix bs that they put out. The original spirit voiced by Matt Damon himself.

Can we talk about how the sleep demon gave everyone ideal dream worlds, and IN HIS OWN PARADISE DREAM WORLD Rengoku has his asshole of a father present? Like, he LOVED being a good big brother SO much, that he was even thankful for his trauma because it MADE him a good big brother. That remained a part of his dream world because without it, he wouldn't be able to help his little brother. His dream world is literally him sacrificing himself and his own well being to help others. That's the world he wants to live in more than anything. Fucking holy shit, man...

Ok but there is a part in the manga that shows inosuke's background and the person that he learned how too talk was actually kinda an ass to him and never treated him like a person (because he didn't know he was one) So it's really cool that you actually got his back story right on the money without seeing it beforehand. Also I loved the formatting of this video, I the analysis was great

Your reactions to anime are absolutely hilarious, but one thing that was super powerful for me with this anime was listening to your heart break throughout your reactions to the movie. I adore this film and love analyzing it, but hearing someone go from making fun of it to genuinely respecting it - even while cracking jokes - was incredible. I just wanted to say, I am SO GLAD you brought up Mirio, because I also tried not to get attached to Rengoku (I was spoiled about his death) and the moment he started talking I IMMEDIATELY got Mirio vibes from him and I couldn't NOT get attached anymore (yes I cried during the movie) so having you point that out was the most satisfying thing to hear ever. I related to a lot of the things you were saying, it hit especially hard when you said the stuff about us having personal beef with Akaza because Muzan took Tanjiro's family but Akaza took Rengoku from the viewers. Besides all the Rengoku bullying in the beginning, you're talking nothing but straight facts in this video 😂 I appreciate a good, funny, in-depth review/analysis like this one, I think you should make more videos like this too!

I think the best part about this fight was that it set a president in the anime that characters aren't safe. Now in future fights we will be genuinely afraid that people will die because the show has proven that they aren't afraid to kill off the characters.

Hi! Manga reader here! The worst thing about rengoku's death in the manga is that, while in the movie we see his death from his perspective, we see it from tanjiro's perspective. So we see this wounded, broken man with glazed over eyes asking someone we can't see if he did his part, if it was okay for him to rest. And then when tanjiro asks him who hes talking to, he smiles and then just.. Stops responding. Rengoku's death wrecked me emotionally.

I really liked both the analysis and the reaction, like having snippets of your reactions sprinkled in of your analyses. But if it isn’t too strenuous of an add-on (I’m sure you’re really busy, you always give us good content), I guess having a second/additional, almost, “compilation” video full of just reactions would be phenomenal. But definitely not to put any pressure or expectation, just like brainstorming or something

Deadass my first thought when seeing rengoku for the first time was that he looks like the lions in a lunar new year parade That being said this movie destroyed me in April

I am amazed to hear you'll be covering Spirit. Amazed and extremely excited. Please, at least for that video, I'd love to hear your analysis portions. I think the mix of comedy and analysis is really well suited for you. But if editing videos like that is taking too long, there are two ways to counter it. The first is for if you don't know what order the clips will take. It sounds like, in this video, you experimented with the placement of segments and clips a lot and changed the structure several times in the middle of development. To a degree, this is inevitable, but if you want a more solid plan going into your next project, you should make a blueprint. After having scripted yourself, even as vaguely as writing 'insert rant section here', attach shorthand notes saying what scene you want to play over which sentences and paragraphs. The descriptor can be as vague as 'something from that scene in the canyon', just so long as you get the gist in the future. It can help a lot. Now the second counter is for the busywork, you need to make shortcuts for yourself. Either literally in that you bind keys to actions and get used to mastering those keystrokes to speed up the process of editing, or you need to concede any perfectionism you may bear as an editor and acknowledge when holding on this clip for the whole paragraph is 'good enough'. Don't be afraid to cut corners if it takes the pressure off.

Video: "The story's nothing I'd call deep." Me as a manga reader and the video at the same time: "Well... WELCOME TO THE GODDAMN ABYSS!"
