This is very helpful! Idk why this elastic is so confusing. I have put it in a couple of garments and I ended up cutting it out because I didn't like the wavy bulk taking the place of the regular flow of the fabric. Maybe I didn't do it correctly.

is diana using maxi lock stretch in lower looper of serger? I'm asking because when i did the combination of adding elastic plus regular maxi lock serger thread, the seams felt itchy to me when wearing a dress i made
@EllieandMacPatternsLLC4 ай бұрын
I do usually use maxi lock stretch thread on my loopers when sew knit. I don't do this ALL the time but I do prefer it and it does feel a lot softer when used.

Thank you for teaching us how to sew the clear elastic go the seams. I never tried that before because I thought the elastic couldn't be cut by the serger and I see that yours didn't get cut but even if it did on mi garment I think it still would work fine. By the way, I subscribed to your channel!!

What size elastic did you use? So you sergered some off the elastic on your bodice and then You put elastic on the skirt but did not cut any elastic off the skirt?
@EllieandMacPatternsLLC4 жыл бұрын
usually I use a 1/4in elastic. I try not to cut any of the elastic with my serger. I usually get it trapped into the seam allowance. the elastic is just there for stability to the skirt so it doesn't stretch out.
