I don’t think think spices count as toppings; they are ingredients but they’re usually integrated within the base of the pizza, the sauce, the cheese and the dough. They aren’t extra ingredients. That being said my favourite topping is by far prosciutto, Italians know what they’re doing. Unlike pepperoni it has no grease, it has a great texture (not chewy at all) and has a subtle yet noticeable flavour that brings out the flavour in the basic ingredients as well

A lot of people don't understand that certain toppings should be pre-cooked in some way. Onions aren't something I'd put raw on a pizza. I would sweat them or even caramelize. I live on the east coast and I can't get away from ranch. Even in school most of the kids would put ranch on the crummy burnt square cafeteria pizza.
