One little tip I picked up from some woodworking channels is that rubbing alcohol works great for lifting pencil marks from wood before applying finish. Might work equally well on the filon and not be such a heavy solvent to act on the filon.

What size screw did you use for the final install? Also which trim do you wish you used? You have the part number for a hurricane hinge.
@OregonBatman3 жыл бұрын
The screws I used for the trim was 1" Truss Head Screws, wider surface area to hold things down. The hurricane hinge is Part number: HT05 Offset Hurricane Hinge. Thanks for watching!

Looks great! Thanks so much for making this series of videos!! Did you add a sealer of some kind to the screw holes before final installation? Also, is the filon smooth? I understand that you can see fibers in it. I was thinking of adding a vinyl wrap. I look forward to seeing your completed trailer!
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Thank you John! I used Proflex to seal the fitting/screws when I installed the fitting. You can see the fibers in the filon, not smooth looking, although it feels smooth. Don’t think you would see it through the vinyl wrap! Thanks again John appreciate the comment!!

My son and I have decided to build a teardrop trailer together this year. I came across your channel and it looks like the perfect tutorial for first time teardrop builders. I have scanned a few of the videos and I like that you suggest having materials organized before starting. I have not seen where you purchased your axle and frame. Is there a site that sells them or do I need to find a fabricator to build the frame and is there a specific axle used? We are excited to take on this adventure under quarantine. Thanks for any advice.
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen! Video Part 19 talks about the frame and the axle. My frame is a custom frame, although any existing frame would work but would have to be modified for the cabin. I purchased the axle from Southwest Wheel Co. you can find them on-line. I used a 2000 lb torsion axle. Happy building, you'll have lots of fun!

I like the connectors you used to bring the power from the tongue box to the trailer, I purchased what I thought you used (Cat. No. 1190DP0CHR) on Amazon but when I tried hooking up my 10 awg wire it doesn't fit o=in the holes on the plug and receptacle and plug. I saw you also used 10 awg, how did you get the wire to fit in?
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce... to get that wire in, I had to trim a few hairs off and twist the strands as small as I could make them. Eventually, after working it back and forth I managed to squeeze them in. Looking back, not sure if the 10 awg was necessary, but it all worked out in the end.

You’re doing a great job on it may I ask a question how deep is the galley where the fridge /cooler on the inside wall to the hatch
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Well... if I understand your question, from counter top edge to edge of wall (to hatch) is approx 2". The depth of the cooler area is approx 15" under the counter top. With the hatch closed, there is about 1/2 to 3/4" clearance to counter top.

Question please... Did you peel away the top layer of paper before you laid the aluminum edge trim on the 3M Sealant tape before screwing down? Looks like you didn't. Was that you intent?
@OregonBatman20 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question... this particular tape didn't have a top paper on it. Don't have to peel it.

must have missed it but what's the adapter your using called to go through the bulkheads and all?

I used a product called PERKO-Watertight Deck Connections. Although... If I had to do it all over again, I might consider using the 30 amp adapter.

Are you going to put fenders on the trailer?
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug! Yes sir... have them ready and need to get them installed. :)
@ivokouters34154 жыл бұрын
Hi, just wondering..don't you need any tail lights on the trailer? I would guess you need more than 2 wires (braking lights and direction indicator as well as constant power for internal lights and cooler etc.). Also, it appears that your power connector is the wrong way. The feed should be female and not male.
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ivo, yes... trailer lights will be installed soon, totally separate wiring. I do have all of the lights and wiring, just need the time to get them installed. I do believe the connection is correct for this type of fitting. I know what you are saying though. Regular shore power has that kind of setup like you mentioned.

Hey Donatas! Been working on it since October 2019... making the videos makes it take a long time. Should only take a couple months to build really!
@rockyeasterline3484 жыл бұрын
I didn't see why you needed that blue tape underneath that black trim whatsoever there was no glue no silicone no nothing
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
I used the tape as a precaution, just in case things oozed. There was just a bit of proflex that came out, and the tape still makes for easy clean up.
