About the dating question, I just wanna say, Katy, that I admire you so much for standing your ground to not SETTLE. I got married young because I had settled and was divorced before 30. Now at 32, my standards are much higher because I learned to value myself and refuse anything less. You WILL find him, stick to your guns ❤

that 'butterfly feeling' is really just pure anxiety. Give more chances to those who may not give you that feeling right away! those are the good ones, the ones that make you feel right at home - just meeting them once

SO true! when i met my partner, i felt a warm calmness in my gut, a comfort, and I was confused why it wasn't the typical anxious butterflies. i doubted it, but gave it a shot; fast forward 6 years and we are still madly in love, getting engaged, and i still cant believe how much the stereotype of needing to feel that firey butterfly feeling almost held me back from our date!!

I’ve been watching you since I was in 8th grade and you were a junior in high school, now I’m 24 (and don’t know what I’m doing with my life) and I still love and support you and your content so SO much. You’ve always been such an inspiration whether you’re 17 and figuring it out or 27 and figuring it out, and you will always continue to be so for me. I think the first video I watched of yours (or first one I remember and constantly still think about) was “how not to give a fudge”, and I can wholeheartedly say that you seem like one of the most genuine people on the internet. I don’t know why I felt compelled to comment when I never do, but I just wanted to confirm that you do help and inspire people every single day. Keep on keeping on.

So many people can't be alone especially girls your age...they jump into relationships because they don't want to be alone. They crave the validation of being wanted versus actually really liking the person or waiting until they find someone they really truly love -It's out of fear of being alone. Trust me, you are way better off!!! The right person will come along and you will know it, and now you've gotten to know yourself so much more than if you were constantly in relationships!

Ugh, yes. The fear of being alone is so understandable and real. However being alone has forced me to get to know myself on a deeper level! It's a special thing, even though I don't always see it that way! You're so right :)

I totally understand how you feel about the dating thing. I'm 26 and have only had a few relationships and my family says I'm too picky and need to settle down. Yes I want kids but honestly I'd rather be single than with someone who doesn't bring out the best of me. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone girl

hey katy! this might sound really sappy, but knowing you’re in your 20s and have never had a long-term serious boyfriend is actually extremely inspiring and comforting to me. You normalize fully living for yourself and loving yourself before seeking happiness from someone else, while still openly having hope for love and continuing to be a hopeless romantic. It honestly makes me feel so much less alone in my solidarity and makes me feel less crazy for caring about my peace more than my relationship status. Especially in a world where I feel like so many woman unconsciously lower their standards just to have a boyfriend. thank you. 💓

Hey Katy! I’m 30 and I’ve had one “relationship”, but I don’t consider it as one. I’ve been told to “lower your standards! You’re too picky!”, and like I tell them I will not settle. And seriously! Trust your gut! I’ve gotten the ick and tried “dating til you hate them”, and I just couldn’t do it after 3 dates 😂 our person will come when the time is right!! Just keep living your best life.💕

Katy, I have been following you since your college days. I am 30 years old and I feel like I have grown up alongside you. You have become one of my role models. I look up to you so much. I struggle so much in the dating scene too. I have had 2 serious relationships. I am struggling with being single at my age and watching my childhood friends either get engaged or married. I am also struggling with the embarrassment of still living at home. We need to trust the universe what is has planned for us. We need to learn to live fully in the present moment and just breathe. I am proud of us for always putting our hearts out there and meeting guys and not giving up. Our prince charmings are out there somewhere. There is someone for everyone. Our time isn't now and we need to learn that that is okay. Sending you so much love, Katy. Keep shining your beautiful, warm, welcoming, kind, gentle light. ❤

I read an excellent book about dating (which I believe led me to my current partner who I plan to marry) called “How To Not Die Alone” (silly name lol). It had a lot of good points about the frankly arbitrary standards that we hold ourselves and others to when dating. Highly recommend! The biggest thing for me in that book was that “The Spark” isn’t real and can’t be trusted. For me, “The Spark” is just the familiar feeling I get around men who are avoidant, which can start out as exciting for someone like me, but ultimately painful and a waste of time. Essentially, the spark was really just a warning sign from my body that pop culture had convinced me was actually the opposite.

Girl, NEVER lower your standards and trust your gut! I was single up until I was 26 and now I've been in a 3+ year relationship with a house and a dog together. Don't give up on meeting people in real life or on the apps (I met my partner on Hinge after using dating apps for years). Sometimes, it really is just timing and when things are meant to be, they will be!

Katy, i hope you take this feedback as something constructive. Lately I’ve noticed your match made persona and this Katy that we all know and adore is way too different from each other that it almost creates a dissonance in my head. Im confused as to who you are. This Katy seems down to earth and levelled, the other seems a bit crass, sound-bite-y, and judgmental. If only you can hear how you speak, without rose tinted glasses on. It’s a bit disappointing to hear. I guess my point is - as a long time follower, i’m left confused. Keen to know what other followers think.

@Evraaah
@Evraaah Жыл бұрын
@@michellelao98 thanks for your thoughtful reply! What you said is true but maybe ive worded it wrong. Or maybe im thinking about it wrong. Maybe the match made one is who she is without all the curation and editing, alongside her friends, and it creates a dissonance in my head bec that person is vastly different from this one. Whether that’s good or bad, up to you and ultimately up to Katy.

Yeah I feel similar, as much as I like to sometimes listen to the podcast when I want to hear something light, I am sometimes bothered by the way Katy Colbie and Adam talk about stuff especially when it comes to dating standards. What I mean by that is that they oftentimes don't self reflect on the things they are doing and want people to treat them a certain way when they themselves don't treat them the same. E.g they criticize people for cutting things off a certain way and then the go and do the same thing to other person but find a way to justify it.
@Evraaah
@Evraaah Жыл бұрын
@@Littlebluedynamite1 my thoughts exactly. True lasting love is a tall, big ask when you talk about other people that way and dont look at yourself. It makes me think maybe they dont know theyre not ready yet. Self-awareness is so elusive these days. Yes, it’s light and sometimes funny, but sometimes it’s truly borderline mean, judgemental and crass. And if that’s their brand - that’s fine, just dont say youre looking for true lasting love when whatvyou say dont align with that.

As a single 37 year old who has lived in NYC since I was 23.. it's not you, it's the city. Yes, its a marvelous place, but for dating as a single women...this aint it! I can't think of even one woman I know that met their long term partner here. They either left the city and met someone or already knew them before coming here. Not saying this to discourage you but if I could go back in time, I would date elsewhere.

Katy will always be one of the cool KZbinrs, hence why I still watch her videos to this day. It’s always funny and sad to me how Katy used to be bullied and now there are people that literally pine for a job as an “influencer”. This culture is definitely NOT relatable as it’s usually people who already have money so they have a certain lifestyle that people want to watch, then it snowballs into companies paying these people to travel and do all of these things and it just goes from there. Definitely not relatable but Katy Bellotte is definitely a real one! A young woman who has always had a good head on her shoulders despite what the people around her are like. And her family’s awesome! Edit: Also wanted to add that I know the whole dating thing can be difficult and there’s this pressure whether big/small/unnoticeable or not but please NEVER settle. Don’t look around you and feel like something’s wrong with you. There isn’t! During those times when you’re down, please remember that waiting for someone who meets your standards is worth waiting for…especially in the world we live in today.
