Those are some nice components you picked out, Brendon. NAD is top-line stuff. I now have a Rega turntable, which is my newest addition. It was to replace my old L&G turntable, where the bearing finally gave out on the platter, which was solid aluminum. I have an 80's vintage Realistic receiver/amplifier and my old JVC double tape deck, plus a pair of Philips speakers. I play my CDs through my other system, that is hooked up to my television set-up. It has a powerful Yamaha power amp and a pair of Db speakers, which sound wonderful. And yes, that Trooper album is a "best-of" compilation. They were a big popular band from the west coast, back in the day, with numerous hits.

Congrats on picking up a new seperates system Brendon, i hope you heard the benefits over your previous set-up. The only thing missing are speaker stands which, even if you listen sitting on the floor, the speaker should be at ear level for the best listening experience & space them so they are equal distance apart & angled inward towards your good self. Your speakers also appear to have the option to biwire if you so choose. I tried it many years back & whilst the benefit isn't massive, it did wonders for my listening enjoyment. Apologies for mentioning all that, we are all different & our enjoyment from music & our different set-ups varies from person to person. The only thing i would say is having speakers on the floor will hamper the audio giving it a more muffled sound which will remove clarity. Congrats once again on your new gear, i hope you get many years of audio pleasure with it & enjoy going back into your collection & hearing details you may have missed with your old set-up.

Hey Brendon, congrats on the new equipment. Like many have said, NAD makes good equipment for a good price. You are now starting your journey to becoming an audiophile. Get the speakers off the floor and on stands. You can then fool around with their placement. Placing them too close to the backwall will give you more bass but it will sound bloated. Bringing them out will get rid of the bloat and produce more detail and improve their soundstage. Very happy for you! Enjoy!

Cool system, Brendon. So envious of your purchase. Haven't found the time to find a nice stereo system for my music. I'd rather buy locally via a small local business instead of through a major store chain in a larger city. The owner took great care of wrapping up your speakers, and that's the beauty of buying from a privately owned shop versus the major store chains. Looks like he gave you a great deal on everything, too. I need to find a place like this in my neck of the woods. I own Trooper's Hot Shots on CD. Good compilation, but the band should have waited to put it out after 1979's Flying Colours which features their biggest local/native hit to date "Janine" (which was not a hit here in the States.) They didn't do that, though. Hot Shots charted and sold very well in the band's native Canada. One of the biggest selling Greatest Hits/Best Of compilation albums of all time in Canada. I think it has sold close to 3M copies to date.

No they sure don’t! That has been my issue too. Past units have stopped working after 8 months to a year. I got tired of buying new systems yearly. Back in the My day in the UK and my first system 1970s, the shop owner guy who helped and advised me, to first pick the Turntable and Amp, (no cd players back them) then chose three sets of speakers, from what we tried in his shop explaining the speakers would sound entirely different in my home enviroment, he would deliver it on Sunday Morning if that was acceptable (the only day his shop was closed) and set it up in my home, with the three sets of speakers, for me to decide which set I liked the best, and therefore set the final price of the system, a far cry from customer service of today, still your man did try his best.

You can't go wrong with NAD gear, good performance for sensible money I think sums them up. I've owned some of their gear in the past and the 3150 integrated amplifier was the one I liked the most, I instantly regretted selling that because my "upgrade" was disappointing, made me realise just how good the 3150 was. Regarding small bookshelf loudspeakers, in my opinion you need them positioned at ear level for the best results, but of course because of their size they can go anywhere. I'm quite sure you'll enjoy that system, and I suspect that you'll find yourself using the streamer more than you thought you would. Nice video, thank you.

Took me into one of his high end rooms across the street and demo’d the preamp with a tube amp and then back to solid state. They both sounded great, but John made me a great deal on the Musical Fidelity because I think he wasn’t going to carry them anymore. I brought my friend Paul in a few years later in a snowstorm and John did the same with Paul, he took his time and Paul left with a Rogue Tube preamp also. I moved to South Carolina 2 years ago, no shops like John’s nearby like I had when I lived on Staten Island.

I have that NAD! It’s. A great little amp for bedroom size rooms. I noticed a “break in” time with it. Now it sounds great!

How do you mean? I’m curious what I should be expecting.

@@BrendonSnyder I noticed when I first started listening with it. It seemed kinda weak in the sound. After a month or two it got in its “element”. And really took off. Extremely happy with it

@@dinkjs Break-in is a myth. What people experience is slightly repositioning of the speakers, or sitting position. The room you're in invokes the sound more than anything. None of the electrons flowing through your speakers will invoke anything, and the cones and stuff is not that stiff and needs break in time. 😂

Great choices on you equipment! They did you well. NAD is fantastic. BlueSound Node is also great. I dont know about the speakers but probably also great. I would have probably paired KEF LS50's with it but probably above your budget. You will certainly want some stands as you say. I would look at one of the streaming services that do lossless CD quality. I use the middle ($10) tier of Tidal and it is great but other services also now exist that do CD quality lossless. Roon is also worth a look. It is not a streaming service (it pairs with Tidal for that) but a music management system that I love but it is very much for people that play a lot of varied music and/or have a decent sized library of ripped CDs. (I ripped all mine to FLAC decades ago).

Congrats on your new system, Brendon. You can´t go wrong with NAD. You are a true music lover not audiophile, just like me, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate great sound, without getting obsessed with multiple layers and microscopic detail that not even the original engineers and producers knew where there with their old Yamaha monitors, LOL. Enjoy the music, Brendon. By the way, Pink Floyd is standard auditioning stuff but Poison? Yeah, I always thought it sounds amazing, way to go. I hope you make a video about playing your music on the new system, the experience, especially with the streamer which is the newest thing here.

Wow. That back room had the shelf full of tiny computer speakers. Stereo stores sure do blow chunks compared to the days of the 80's and 90's.
