We love exploring caves. And yes, a hoodie or light jacket is a smart idea to bring along with you when you're underground. Imposter bats. LOL Nice job getting footage down there. It can definitely be tough lighting to film in. Carl's Good Cavern?!? You're on a roll. Really enjoy your videos.

Howard and Katelyn for taking us on this journey. I know the trials and tribulations of your past year and many people may have stopped and taken more time off. I apriciate your strength and motivation to keep seeing what you can while you can. These are times and moments you will look back with joy. I'm handicapped now and the 2 trips we took across this country first with no kids and the second and longer trip with 4 kids a dog a cat and a hermit crab were the best time of our lives. Everyone should do it atleast once in their lives. We may do it again, but the hiking will have to be on handicap accessible trails, which I can live with. Can't wait to see Utah!

I was there about 10 days before you and camped in the same place with my van. I started to do the devils den hike, but I am glad I didn’t because I was by myself and that definitely would’ve been too much for me along with the fear of getting lost,. I spent two days in dog canyon and had a beautiful time out there but it was an hour and a half drive from the visitor center and you had to go all the way around the outside of the park and back in at the north end of the park to stay there. It was so quiet and peaceful , trails were much easier than the ones in the main campground. I love Carlsbad so much! I felt really great doing that one on my own, including the walk in. I am back home after spending six weeks in 12 national parks in six states, including Colorado! I love watching you visit all the parks that I have seen! I really love the national parks RV but I have not been able to find it to see it in person so let us know how it’s going. Do you feel like you’re missing out and being on a larger 30 foot RV?

In the last 2 years of full timing my wife and I have been to several national park properties. For me Carlsbad Caverns is not necessarily my favorite but it is the most jaw dropping.

I'm claustrophobic so I couldn't do the caverns. My palms were getting sweating watching you go through a very narrow walkway. Can't wait to see your videos of Utah!

Hi guys Carlsbad caverns is such a awesome place. Been there you shouldn't have taken the short cut so much to see. Did you see the bats at night? The devils hall hike was not one of my favorites to be kinds. I believe there is better hikes there for such a beautiful place. I would love to hike to the peak some day. Great video I enjoy watching your adventure. Some of the best on KZbin

Oh THANK YOU! You guys just brought back some of my favorite childhood memories! Our family went to Carlsbad Caverns in the early sixties (can you tell how OLD I am?!), and had the best time! I remember taking an elevator down and up, but NOT that modern ones you got to use. I remember having a HOT DOG down there at a snack stand. I’ll bet it’s not there anymore. You know what else I remember? The SMELL 🤣! Bat guano. Eeewwww! I’ve never seen Guadalupe, so besides Carlsbad Caverns, it’s on our ever-growing bucket, thanks (many!) to you. Please continue to be safe, have fun, and can’t wait for all your future videos. Much love to you both, Virginia💕

We were at these parks just prior to your visit. Carlsbad is always a welcome reprieve from the heat of the summer (& cold of the winter). Guad. Mtns is cool to explore but not one to be underestimated. Sadly, we witnessed a Search & Rescue / Recovery mission due to 2 (very fit) hikers making the decision to go off trail and explore the face of El Capitan. (Rock climbing El Capitan is forbidden because of the extreme danger of falling rocks.). Just stay on the trails and you should be fine. Those are challenging enough for an adrenaline rush.

Just discovered your videos-you include a lot of great information! I am so glad that you mentioned the cryptobiotic soil/crust: I think that a lot of folks simply don't know how fragile and essential it is.

Stalgmites, spelled with a g, grow from the ground. Stalactites, spelled with a c, hangs from the ceiling. Memory trick I taught my students when we studied caves.

We did Devil’s Hall. My knees were toast by the time we were done. I think you guys may have turned around about 5 minutes before you would have made it to the actual “hall.” Great hike nonetheless and yes, VERY strenuous.

OMG---spicy motherclucker. So funny!!!! Love this series and you guys do such a great job on videos. We are here for just a tiny speck of time and it is so amazing how things change over time. Chipmunk or wooly mammoth? The scarier creature the better.

Why no hat as suggested with the 92* temps? The ozone is geo depleted raising the UV damage to skin. Please be careful ❤️ I had the pleasure of visiting Carlsbad Caverns with my family in 1970. My son was able to also visit in his youth. We adopted a bat 🦇 in his name for his birthday
