Let’s say you’ve brought Larry into Cartoon Animator, and you suddenly decide you want to swap out his right arm for a shiny new robot arm. The new robot arm isn't exactly the same shape and dimensions as Larry’s original arm. You can easily do this directly inside Cartoon Animator with either an SVG or PNG.
With Larry open in Composer Mode, select his right arm to highlight it. Then, open the Sprite Editor (S) and choose Replace Current Element. Import Larry’s new robot arm from your computer.
Since the new sprite might not exactly match the size and dimensions of the original sprite, the connecting sprites at either end may not move as desired. This is easily fixed. First, select Edit Pose in the top menu bar (if you don’t select Edit Pose, the sprite will snap back into place when moved).
Now you have three ways of adjusting this new sprite-
Transform Part (1) - This move the sprites position along with its bones
Transform Sprite (2) - This moves the sprite but not the bones
Transform Bone (3) - This moves the bones but not the sprite
Tip: If you select a bone by clicking on it and then hold the E key while you move it, only that bone will move and the bones either side of it will remain in place.
Tip: If you import a sprite and it appears to be cut off on the corner, you can easily fix this. With the sprite selected, open the Bone Editor and click Show Wireframe under Subdivision. Increase the Density and Expand values to the maximum of 9. This should resolve the issue and give your sprite a smoother appearance when bending.
