I think it’s the delicate nature of dictionary paper that makes it desirable for junk journals. It’s interesting because I love the texture of old book pages which are actually thicker than our paper today however there’s something also wonderful about delicate dictionary paper too.

I tend to tuck and glue the smaller envelope flaps into the larger envelope (careful not to glue the larger envelope closed) as opposed to gluing the flaps into one another. When I make what you call snippet strips, I use a lot of textile bits (cotton, linen, silks, velvet, corduroy, canvas, burlap, Aida cloth, etc.) and fibers, thread, and cords I twist into yarns, to sew onto the book page strips, which I enjoy doing by hand with heavy contrasting thread or perle cotton. I like the texture and mixed media, and since I create my own fabrics, I have plenty of it. 😁 A few years ago we rescued some sheep and we started making our own wool felt. I've been thinking of making covers with it. What do you think?

I just cleaned up my stache tonight! This is a way to use pieces of paper I can't seem to part with! I have an old book I use for print value. It's great to paint on and I use pastels to. I use tacky glue & I always have glue stick on hand. I'm waiting for our thrift stores to open to acquire more Books to tair into lol.

joie de fi I love it. I have so many other glues that are still in my craft room and I am not using. I am going to have to donate them. You need such a small amount with the art glitter glue. It is very strong and dries clear matte. If your edges on a project are up, I just put a little, sometimes right in top of the card stock and rub it down. I have even used it on my photo albums if the paper in the seams break slightly. You should give it a try.

That's a fair question; my thinking is to fill them with little journaling cards and pieces of paper. Something to pull out and write on and tuck away. It's just a bit of fun, a colourful and happy project, hopefully. Does that help? 💜

joie de fi - oh I meant I couldn’t figure out how to put them in. I used 2 sizes of 2 envelopes but not homemade and I watched a few times and only got one set in. But I used the other set as an insert... I think it went too fast. Next time.
