Hey Chris, I just thought I would tell you about what I do when draining fluids from a car. I went to Walmart and bought a couple of those cheap 47" round kiddie pools..they make the BEST drain pans. They fit under most cars sitting in the ground and they cover 90% of the front of the car. Never get anything on the floor again. Best part is they are usually cheaper then a regular drain pan 1/5 the size. I paid $5 each at he end of summer. Also, good to see you aren't relying on the winch cable to hold the car. A safety chain or safety strap is a must...I have seen flatbeds lose cars when the cable snaps.

You might look into going with a T-5 trans instead of the Toploader. It's a great trans, but, unless you really get a find, it's spendy. Then, you can put some lower gears and a locking diff in. Even if you rebuild the 289 heads with the 2 BBL and a dual exhaust, it'll seem as fast as your later GT. Looking forward to seeing more of all the Mustangs!

Chris- Stick with the 289 heads. Get a decent valve job and new valves and springs. An aluminum intake and a small 500-600 cfm 4bbl. will really wake up that motor. Also a T-5 transmission would be a good choice (the same trans that is in your Fox body Mustang) if you cant find a cheap 4 speed.
