The game missed an opportunity to name the 2 Soldiers 'Biggs' and 'Wedge' here :P Also, the E. Key is amazingly useful for quite some time in this game. I'm happy they let you use it as Nina. Hehe, Romero, like George Romero. I love that reference.

The first Breath of Fire was never released on Virtual console due to being unable to come to a decision on how to split the profits between Nintendo, Square Enix, and Capcom, or so I have heard. Breath of Fire 2 on the other hand actually did get released on the Virtual console.

Actually, from what I remember, after a certian... event, Nina actually becomes a pretty good fighter. You know which event I speak of. Her attack animation changes, and her attacks actually deal decent damage (not the BEST, mind, but it's not like it's the worst either).

Huh; I didn't know that about the Gown. I guess that's why I get into so many enemy encounters at around this point in the game... Oh, and about those mushrooms; some will restore HP and others will decrease it. The way to tell is to look at the ground nearby; if there are skeletons around the mushrooms, then it's poison.

I was thinking the same thing. The Gown would attract monsters if that was the case.

Nina's Dress, I believe, is the heaviest armor in the entire game (with a weight of twenty-five); the next heaviest Armor (ignoring other pieces of equipment) is just over half that weight. Ryu should just smite the bad guys with the Dress instead.

HCBailly the LV1 ice spell in this game is called COLD so my guess is C-stone means cold stone.

lol Man if Nina's dress was that heavy she must've had it custom made by piccolo.Yea those guards escorting Nina remind me of the afters years when Edward and Ursula got escorted in their chapters.It also reminds me of DQIV when Alena got escorted after escaping.I guess the pattern is the whole royalty thing.Also the forests music is so good.

Oh, the Iron Ore. I remember the Iron Ore. Dick move, game. Anyways, I love the forest music of this game. It sounds so dangerous and ominous. Sure, it might not fit this forest too well, but it certainly does for the next one.

actually, if you go to the place where you ARE supposed to have the iron ore but you don't have it, I think he tells you verbatim, "Hey, give me iron ore so i can **this is censored due to plot spoilers**. You find it in a cave near Winlan." Or at least that is what happens in the GBA version.

I think the reason why the ground is starting to change colour because of the potion is that whoever used the potion on the dead, poured it onto their graves, and it's still there causing the damage.

Basically, it's a fancy dress made of thin material (or many layers of thin material). A bride's dress at a wedding is often called a "bridal gown".

There isn't specifically a "weight" stat, he just means how much it reduces your ACT by. Heavier things make you slower, thus you ACT later.

I don't know. I've heard multiple sources say so, including friends of mine who tested it. Regardless, it only works while Nina is in the lead position, so it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe it's a bug.

Actually, HC, with the iron ore, the character your supposed to bring it to tells you that he can make something good if he had some iron ore. Another character (or maybe the same one, not sure) tells you to look for iron ore in Aura cave.

This game had some very advanced things in it.. It's odd how this game wasn't more popular because of that, since Breath of Fire seems, at least to me, to be kind of an obscurity in JRPG history.

First of all, to the guys who are saying "ProtnB" stands for "Protein Bar"...you *do* realize there's an item called "ProtnA", don't you? My thinking is that the A and B aren't supposed to stand for anything, but are just supposed to be suffixes to distinguish them. 0:50 Yay having our EXP cut to 1/3 to split it between Nina and the two Soldiers, who have no use for it! 1:50 Actually, I'm pretty sure that bit about front-row characters being targeted more is untrue :/. Enemies have only a few methods of choosing targets, but NONE of them take row or marching order into account! Somewhat sadistically though, there's one targeting rule that says "Target Nina and Bleu more frequently"! In short, row just has a slight impact on physical damage output/received. 2:20 If I had to guess, the Dress weighing 25 is to signify not so much that it's heavy, as that it's awkward. I don't know, I can't see any dress weighing more than plate mail, but I can certainly see it constantly getting in your way and its Weight stat reflecting that! 3:00 Also, GP boost. Don't forget that :P! Oh, and here's the table for that, if anyone's curious (from Novalia Spirit's Monster FAQ for BoF): Round Multiplier 1 150% 2-4 130.078125% 5-6 120.3125% 7+ 100% 5:15 Yep. You know what else is that element? Stuff like Bomb and Nova. Oh, and later on, Rudra will be that element (as will Agni, but it's meaningless there). 5:55 I'm gonna side with everyone saying it's "Cold Stone". Mmm...ice cream

I agree. I always thought of C.Stone as Cold Stone, but that was after I used it. Dumb thing about this game and many others like it, is it has some sort of description that doesn't tell you what it does, and you end up wasting it. In games such as these, you have to save first then use all the stuff to see what it does and make notes. I also hated this game when it came to buying weapons and armor. I used the same method. Still the game is awesome. Never knew about the E.Key trick though.
