In this series we'll level up in GW2 as a Human Mesmer. I'm a relative noob to the game, so I'll be taking my time, going for full map exploration, and setting a relaxing, immersive tone, with music and ambient sound up.

hype, hype AND HYPE!! This MMO is fantastic. A true true adventure ahead. Enjoy the ride, Robert! Can't wait to see more Guild Wars 2, my 2nd favorite mmo after WoW!

Awesome, my favorite wow streamer playing my favorite mmo! When it comes to gathering materials, there are three types of gathering nodes in the world: ores, trees, and plants. Anyone, regardless of professions can harvest these nodes so long as you have the correct gathering tools (pick, axe, scythe). Higher level zones will have higher level nodes but you simply purchase a higher quality gathering tool rather than level a specific skill. When you have your inventory open, there is a box icon in the upper right corner which will automatically deposit all gathered materials into a storage bag in your bank. A nice QoL feature so you don't have to constantly go back to town to drop things off. As for crafting, I think its worth leveling up as you go. Tailoring and Artificing will let you craft armor and weapons you can use. You'll want to pick up a salvage kit the next time you're at a merchant. These are used to break down unwanted pieces of gear into raw materials you can use to either craft with, or sell. As a general rule, I tend to salvage gray, white and blue items as they don't vendor for much, but green items I will vendor if I don't want to use them.

Absolutely no joke : I've been a viewer of your VOD for a couple of weeks, but I'm a veteran GW2 player. Yesterday I thought : wonder if anyone is doing content like Rambles, but for GW2...! And also, just started a mesmer a couple of weeks ago also. That is a lot of coincidences.

Veteran GW2 player here; I love that you're giving it another shot! Personally, I don't really agree with what they did with the 'New Player Experience' a couple of years ago. By feeding you the content in tiny bits at a time so as not to overwhelm you, they kinda also made it feel rather shallow for the first several hours of play. Trust me though, if you stick with it, you'll quickly see that GW2 is incredibly rich in lore and content as well as very engaging and rewarding to play. Just don't expect the traditional 'kill x amount of mobs' type quests; it's a completely different mmo and quite revolutionary in that respect. I hope you have fun!

One suggestion, if it feels good for you as well, is maybe loweting the music volume by about 20% (in-game), while keeping the other sounds the same. To me it seems like the music, especially during epic song moments is overpowering everything else a lot, even fighting sounds. At least what's captured during recording and heard here on video. During gameplay, in-game it might be perfect. Yeah, only try it if you like it. Ignore otherwise. Anyways, I like that you desided to play some gw2. :) It's not my main MMO and I'm currently taking a break from everything :D , but gw2 is in my top3 (WoW, FF14 & GW2) and I would love to play more of it, when I settle IRL. I main engineer there. I thought engineer was too complicated and I tried everything, to eventually figure out that there are easy ways to play it that are very satisfying and don't lose you too much dps. So if you do play more and happen to create another toon see if you like engineer and give it a go. The rifle gameplay is nice and the shot sounds are so satisfying to hear. hehe

Guild wars 2 is the only MMO I could love after WoW. Story is great even the start of it is slow and eventles.

Stoked to see you playing GW2! There's a lot of content out there for it. The mounts and gliding in the later expansions completely open up the game too. Regarding your question on whether you should start crafting, definitely start when you can, since you earn xp while crafting. Some people have leveled characters to max level just through crafting. And some of the stuff you can make will be beneficial as you level up. For endgame, the only way to get max level gear is through crafting. GW2 is unique in that 99.5% of the drops when you hit max level are just trash/salvageable into crafting mats, or are components that are needed for crafting. Very rarely do actual pieces of gear drop. So it's best to level crafting as you level up your character. Looking forward to seeing the progression of your mesmer. Don't be shy with trying other classes too, you may find you like others more. And each race has a different starting zone, so it can help add to the variety when trying new classes.

You can equip your underwater gear, so they dont take up inventory space. Also there is a deposit all crafting materials button in your inventory, you should do that instead of vendoring it! And you had 6 bags of loot you were able to open that you also vendored, they can have some helpful stuff in them. You can buy gathering tools and gather freely without learning any proffession. I suggest doing that. As you saw they had 100 charges on them. Crafting is pretty good in GW2. Learn the proffession you want and start crafting! You get some good experience from it and you can craft some really cool things. Its a pretty simple system, kinda like World of Warcraft crafting.

Interesting new class - what exactly is a Mesmer..??
@LostCauseGamer12 күн бұрын
A Mesmer is a magic class that makes clones of themself to trick enemies. The clones also do damage themselves, but more importantly, you can use your "F skills" to create massive damage or manipulate enemies. It is one of the best classes in any game I have played. He chose the best class in my opinion.

When it comes to gear, go to the merchant often you can upgrade your gear cheaply. Havnt played for a while but you get some free money around level 10 about 100k i think, gives you enough to upgrade all your gear and weaps.
