You know, I grew up playing Sonic as a kid. My parents did not get us much so I only had 3 games. The best being sonic. However, I hated that game. Mostly because it was the gamegear version. And it is WAY different, but I am sure you already know that. I am curious, are you going to do a video series on those? The have different levels, bosses and music that I am sure some have never heard before. I could never get past the Labyrinth zone.

Going back to the loops thing: Yes, Green Hill and Star Light are the only zones in Sonic 1 that have loops. Now, go to Sonic 2, where the only zones that DON'T have loops are Mystic Cave, Sky Chase, Wing Fortress, and Death Egg.

This is definitely a reward for the player for getting so far into the game. After traversing through the Marble Zone, Spring Yard, and Labyrinth Zone you are rewarded with a zone with minimal badniks, hella invincibility, and speed.

@RabidKanid They actually are very, very easy. Like with everything, it just takes practice and memorization. Once you learn where to go, you tend to focus more on getting enough rings for a continue than worrying about making it to the chaos emerald. The Special Zones I've NEVER gotten used to are the ones in Sonic 2. I fucking hate those things and I really hate the person(s) who designed them.

I in fact do more times than I'd want to and it's frustrating with the lack of control you have during these stages.

I may be alone at this but i think Sonic 1s zones get,s harder in the right curve. I think Spring Yard is harder then Marble zone and i think Star Light is harder then Labyrinth. Marble can be hard but you get so many shields and Spring Yard is much trickier. Labyrinth is despite it,s name not a real labyrinth. Star Light is a labyrinth. I easily get,s lost in city levels in Sonic. Marble and Labyrinth may be hard but not tricky or easy to get lost in unlike Spring Yard and Labyrinth.

@RabidKanid to each his own. i've gotten all of the emeralds in sonic 1 a few times, but i have never gotten them all in sonic 2. i get blindsided even in the earliest stages too much, and i don't want to memorize them, so i just usually don't try. at least the only thing i miss is super sonic. at least in 3&Knuckles where the final boss is unlocked i can actually get every (super) emerald.
