Well, now. This is something I didn't know I needed, but I'm here for it! The remaster really makes this old gold shine. Ah, yes, good ol' THAC0. Seeing it, my first thought is always "I remember how that thing worked!". And then my second thought is always "Wait, how was it that thing worked again?" Not everything was better in the olden days 😅

Played all these on an Apple PC when I was a kid. Really nice graphics over haul.

Played 'em on apple II clone (anyone remember the Dick Smith CAT / Laser 3000 ?) and later PC. There was a sort of 4th game originally - it was the game core plus a couple of utilities to help your write and play your own game scripts. There was to be seven games originally - the first was the Bard's tale, then the Knight's tale, etc, etc. But then games history happened. Shifting Suns also did a re-work of the concept a while ago with Devil Whiskey, which was also designed for modders to add their own extensions to the game.

Apple II days, baby. Granted, compared to Ultima and Might & Magic, everything took so gædæmπ long in TBT, it made it one of those "It'll take years to complete this game" kind of things. Unfortunate, too! I *LOVED* the idea that music was magic. So much so, I incorporated it into my series of books ("Diamond Dragons"). 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨

The armor class sounds like old school D&D. The smaller the AC, the better it is.

Correct. I am REALLY glad that Ultima and Might & Magic flipped that around. Make more sense unless you were still doing tabletop stuff. 💪😎✌️

The old-school Bard's Tale games weren't too long if you knew what to do. But everything took so GÆDÆMπ long, it was a pain just to fight or equip a bloody item! 😂 Leveling up felt sad and weak, too. Thank heavens that Ultima and M&M helped alleviate those issues.

I think when I did this, I had played like a half hour, maybe a bit more or less to try it. I really enjoyed it and decided to make the series. I think I mentioned it at least at some point however much time I spent playing it before I started. So, 95-99% blind?

The original games didnt have the gender option, thats probably why the pre-made party is all male
