The fact that you can hear Atreus crying in pain from sticking his entire arm into the light and resisting getting fully pulled in and then he also immediately rushes to check on Kratos, thinking his father must be hurt, only to get shouted at hurts my heart. Poor lad said it felt like he was on fire when his hand was stuck in for a second, and we saw how much Kratos roared in pain (and in the book Kratos thinks it feels hotter than Hades!) when he did it so imagine how much it hurt Atreus! And this is after 2-3 days of waiting, being stuck in a literal war zone, potentially being sleep deprived and hungry!

In Ragnarok, there's dialogue where Atreus asks if he can be muscular like Kratos (to be stronger). Kratos and Mimir tell him that he's already strong from simply being a God, and that his form has no play on the matter. Getting to be as muscular as Kratos, however, would require training and discipline. I'm thinking Disney's Hercules.

This hints how powerful Atreus really Is, just a child and he doesn't even understand who or what he is only when he realizes he gains more power. The beginning of the game it's Kratos being harsh and Atreus with compassion, in the middle of the game Kratos confronts his past to save his son and Atreus' becomes drunk with godhood so they're roles switch and in the end they have a balanced relationship as father and son.
