You can tell how much Tolkien absolutely loved writing within his world. The deeper you understand the lore, the more uniquely creative enjoyment you get to share with Tolkien as you read and re-read. Can’t wait for your study of Tom (not Eru) Bombadil. - Off to take a walk in the dingle.

Love love love this 🌳 Yes to the environmentalism of the Ents! On another note ... Bombadilo is my boy and I hope you tread the treacherous ground of Old Tom chat someday 💚 The older I get the more I value his 'silliness' like a Zen monk. Strange how people think of fantasy as self serious and po-faced, coming from Tolkien, but Prof is at his heart someone who likes the simple child hearted love of nature overcoming the desolate misery of the modern 'grown up' world.

had never quite clicked how much agency Peter Jackson took away from Tolkien's Treebeard... he's literally "THE ent!" of course he'd know if uruk-hai were regularly deforesting his borders, and would be concerned if undecided what to do. the movie version is too hasty. another great video, thanks (edit: PS, would've loved at least a small reflection on the passages about entwives. because that's such a sad deep well of possible lore exploration. but I don't know as well as you how far you could get with any interesting speculations about that so fair)

I may or may not be saving the Entwives for their very own video-they deserve more time than I ended up having here, I think. Thank you so much for watching •ᴗ• really appreciate you being here!
