Just found your channel. What a delight! I love to hear others dive into the text and see what moves them. The Road to Isengard is also one of my favorite chapters. I love the description of the forest and Gimli’s description of the similarities in how elves love and care for trees with how dwarves love and care for stone. I love to see your geek-out reactions while reading and love to imagine Tolkien being equally excited while write it.

For your reference, I haven't read LOTR since I was maybe 12 and can't remember the plot too well, but I couldn't stop coming back to this video until I had reached the end. im absolutely taken by the inflections you put on and the personalities that come out so clearly as you read. do you think you would ever consider doing something like a weekly stream where you read through a chapter or two all the way through? i admit, i am trying to listen to audio books of all of tolkien's works but your affection for the writing and characters comes through so much more than any others, that all i can think of while i listen to others is how much i would rather have you being reading it :"] if its not a consideration, dont worry, i know how much effort it takes to read aloud for extended periods of time, but if its something you had ever considered before, you have at least one person very interested in it

I'm going to have to come back to this video. I just just opened my Ballantine 2001 paperback Fellowship last night and I think I'd rather read up to The Road to Isengard than skip ahead by listening here But, when I was 11, I picked up and read The Two Towers first. I was very confused! Pippin not really getting what was going on made it okay that I didn't either 😅

Still looking forward to your take on Rings of Power.... I enjoyed parts of it but even with my mediocre knowledge it felt like a train wreck, certainly any semblance of realism or verisimilitude (which I would think Tolkien was, his world is very internally consistent) was crashed.
