The "You should kill yourself" message in SH2 may not be subtle, but it holds a lot more weight than some ooky-spooky voice screaming "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT >:(" every five minutes.

Especially since it's really only there if you go looking for it. You'd have to go back to Neely's bar (where the original "there was a hole here, it's gone now" message is) after completely the hospital, but before going to the Historical Society, you get that additional message.

@@kvltovpersonality6290 Plus, when you dedicate to an uncanny, unnatural atmosphere like the classic Silent Hills did, you can get away with some on-the-nose symbolism because the audience won't know if it means something or the story's just being strange. This game doesn't have that excuse, so it only feels like it's screaming the themes in your face. I hate it.

What gets me about the SH 2 remake is it seems to be making James more regretful and emotional and in the og, it was ambiguous how he felt about what he did to Mary. I enjoyed how you see James as that, or as a complicated person who is mixed on how he feels, or just a complete sociopath. At the end of the game he does express how he felt, but it seemed like he doesn't even know himself.

While I agree with Shota that parts of it aren't exactly the most subtle (though I'd argue other things about it are, at least in the early game), you really have to go looking for all of that in order for it to be spelled out to you For example, in order to get that "You should kill yourself" message, you have to go back to Neely's bar when you're in the Overworld (in between finishing the Hospital and before diving into the Historical Society / Prison). In order to get the hospital message in the hotel (which is often the real make or break for the "In Water" ending), you have to scour the Overworld Hotel, which is now a labyrinth of teleporting to parts of the hotel. Also for Persona 4, I really *really* do not want a remake. You already have morons who'll say "oh Naoto's trans", "oh Kanji's gay", like it's the most blatant virtue signaling bullshit, and I guarantee some douche at Atlus NA holds those views and would happily inject that into discussions w/ Atlus JP (something I think we're realizing potentially happened at ArcSys w/ the whole Bridget thing). If you are gay or trans and relate to those character's struggles, that's fantastic. Don't go trying to overwrite what's so explicit in the games Also w/ the thing about Pat and the localization, the specific example he gives I personally agree with (about Danny Trejo's character saying "yare yare" and it being translated as "Dios Mio" in Yak 8), but Pat is just such a disingenuous person who fronts constantly (i.e. he didn't actually finish P3 or P4 golden, yet he's the defacto "Persona" guy, and yes him and Liam got me into the series) so I can't take anything he says seriously anymore. I'll disagree with Woolie but I at least get that he's trying to articulate a genuine opinion

Shorting is when you borrow stocks to sell them at market price with the assumption that the price will continue to drop, thus at a later date you can buy it back for less, netting money. It's different than just selling what you have now and then buying it all back later since it involves actual contracts to sell someone else's stock, which the broker has to pay interest on usually. It's something that happens all the time and is legal, though people doing it in mass and being open about it can absolutely dip stock prices.

It's weird, I do admit i have fun with the combat sometimes but, Silent hill has never had good combat it's average at best. I do think making the combat better is a good move, but making it like modern resident evil? I don't think that's a good move, they should take influence from a game like condemned criminal origins where melee is a big focus. I think that would match SH pretty well.

@@distantsea I don't even know why they showed a gameplay trailer, It just made alot of people skeptical about the game. Apparently James is a expert with firearms now, what's next is he going to suplex a nurse? They could have showed the environmental and monster design, or even give us a glimpse of the remade story to reassure us that it's in the right hands. They don't even have a release date for god sake.
