Yea. Daniel's book comments on Perrin are surprisingly frequently erroneous. It makes me wonder just how many times that he has read the series, or, does he just skip many of Perrin's parts during his re-reads like some re-readers do. I wish that he would do a fresh re-read before posting a summery of these books, or their characters. It kinda reminds me of the many errors that Sanderson made with Perrin's story line also when he started writing his parts.

SPOILERS!!! Daniel, your reviews are amazing and I love finishing each book just to see your opinion of the wheel of time series. My one complaint is that can you please skim through the book you are reviewing that you have read previously, because a few of your wot reviews actually have spoilers of future books. For example, you explain in this review that Perrin had agreed to work with the Seanchan. I have just finished Crossroads of Twilight and in this book they just mentioned the potential for an alliance and that's kinda where it ends. Worse, Tam does not appear in this book, which I was kind annoyed about. He's in my top 5 characters and I found out he is returning in a review of a book he doesn't appear. Grant it is possible I just missed that part, but if not then this kinda ruined a big spoiler. Worse part is this kind of thing had happen in past reviews. Not major spoilers, but mild ones that can be annoying. It just seems like your a book off on some plot points. Which is understandable, its a long series to remember what happens where. In fact, my father who has finished the series has to really hold back to no give me spoilers, yet they still occasionally leak. But in the end I enjoy your reviews Daniel and I will keep being a loyal fan (PS I hope the last battle goes well, Logain better live he's my boy). I'll comment back when I finish the last book :)

Those were my same complaints. Once he mentioned Tam I turned the video off, realizing he must have gotten confused with a future book. I'm just now revisiting now that I have completed a few books ahead.

I just started reading the books and every time I finish one, I like to watch Daniels summary to make sure I didn’t miss anything important (because I often doze off when I read before going to bed). As soon as he was talking about a deal with the Seanchan I thought, wait a minute, I don’t know about this yet! So thanks for confirming there are spoilers in this video! (From reading some of the comments, I now know Tam will reappear again too, but I don’t know how or when so it’s not that big of a spoiler for me fortunately :) When I finish the next book, I’ll check the comments first to see if it’s really spoiler free before watching Daniels summary!

Yeah, it doesn’t feel like enough time was taken to make sure he only talks about the book in the video, without accidentally talking about a future book. This is why I now only watch these videos when I’m like 2 books ahead in my read through.

I find it interesting how many people complain about this book being slow. On my read, I had a much harder time with the last couple, which seemed to be a lot of meandering. Even the big event at the end of Winter’s Heart fell a bit flat, after all the aimlessness. I guess I don’t mind “all setup”, if it seems to lead somewhere!

Daneil i love your videos but i am currently reading through Crossroads of Twilight and when Mesana is going to torture Alvaihrin and Shadar haran shows up isnt in book 10. Then when it cuts to the sisters in the tower, they are talking about the heads of Ajahs being very shadly placed, and it isnt until later in the book that the REBEL Aes Seadi talk about the black tower as a way of gaining power to fight the forsaken, this idea arises when Rand and Nynaeve are using Saidar and Saidin to cleanse the taint on Saidin and channelers all over the world can feel it. The rebels think it is the forsaken so when it dissaptes they send sisters over to look at it. They rebels then figure out that to make more power they need to let male channeler in there circles to make one lager than 13. I wanted a recap of the book before i finish and was very confused.

I haven't watched this video because I'm still reading the book and I don't want to be spoiled. But I have a question that doesn't specifically relate to this book and I don't know if it'll get answered down the road. I highly doubt it since she's a pretty minor character. But does it state anywhere why/how Delana became black ajah? Because from her thoughts/actions (besides following Halima's orders) I don't see any black ajah traits others usually display. She seems nice enough and seemed to genuinely care about people...well...Siuane.

- The book picks up with Rodel Ituralde meeting with Dragonsworn to plan his campaign against the Seanchan. Then we have the Whitecloaks, Logain’s adventures with his bonded Aes Sedai, the Black Ajah hunters inside the Tower and THEN we get to Gawyn. Who is to smart decision-making what Daniel Greene is to making accurate accounts of the events of WoT books. For all that Gawyn’s loyalties change when he is told about Elayne’s, he goes on to attack the army he knows Elayne supports in this book and the next one, up until he changes teams in Book 12. That’s a looong time to act on loyalties that were shattered in the prologue to Book 10. - We HAVE seen Shadar Haran before. He showed up in Book 6. Long before this book, people figured out he was the Dark One’s avatar, and we saw him do the channeling trick in other incidents as well. - The Red Ajah meeting happens in the NEXT book, not Crossroads. They have no clue that the Taint is gone, and part of the motivation for bonding Asha’man is as a way to keep track of them when they do go insane. What happens in Crossroads is between two sisters, not a group, where Tarna floats the idea to Pevara. - Perrin does not meet the Seanchan in Crossroads of Twilight. Like the Red Ajah confab, it happens in the next book! As does the arrival of Taim! His army is not growing in this book. All he does is track down the Shaido and scout them and at the end, Tallanvor shows up to tell him the Seanchan are in the area. - Faile is basically running a mini-covert resistance movement under the noses of the Shaido. This leads to her having a massive train of refugees which has serious impact on Perrin’s movements in book 12 after they are all freed. - Elayne is not gathering the lesser lords to get their votes. Dyelin gathers the four greater lords who have votes, while Elayne is gathering the lesser lords who are vassals and allies of her House, so she can concentrate her forces to defend the city. - We do not see Mellar plotting murders at multiple points in this book. He has one PoV chapter and is a background character at two other events. - Elayne’s move is not brilliant, she is handing over land that other people live on, to new overlords, forcing them to uproot their lives or live under foreign customs. It is done purely for personal gain, she did NOT leave in the loophole that will give her trade advantages, it was Rand who thinks of that when making his similar deal. Basically, the Sea Folk can have people all over the region deliver their goods by boat to their Andoran enclave, and Elayne can’t do anything about it or take a cut of the profits, because they specified that the land be on the water. Rand is the one who got the advantage, because he got to pick the land, so he intends to give them land that is not on water, so the Sea Folk have to play nice in order to get to and from their enclave. When the deal is made, Dobraine says that it will ruin any port near the land they obtain and Rand’s response is the point about keeping it away from water so they have to use the port. Zaida specifies land on the river, so Rand’s exception does not apply and it basically means the Sea Folk are going to ruin the Andoran port of Aringail. Aringail, by the way, is the major base of Elayne’s support, so she’s going to ruin the town that was loyal to her when no one else was, all so she can get a few channelers to help her claim her throne. One book later, Elayne is kicking herself because she didn’t need to make that deal, since she had other ways of getting channeling help without paying off the Sea Folk with a free chance to blow Andor’s taxes and customs fees. Elayne isn’t thinking well ahead, she’s just trying to gild the turd by thinking of how maybe Andoran goods can circulate more with the Sea Folk’s help. Except the Sea Folk are not cargo haulers, they are traders. They will be buying Andoran goods cheap, and selling them at higher prices, by taking advantage of their faster ships, so Andorans won’t be able to get those higher prices, they will be forced to sell cheap to the Sea Folk. And the merchants and all the people in Aringill whose livelihoods depend on river trade passing through the town, will go broke, because the trade will all be going to the Sea Folk enclave. And Sea Folk ships were no part of Elayne’s deal. - Elayne was never someone who cared about the name and recognition and was ALWAYS someone who cared about the actual results. That’s why she always played peacemaker within the groups with which she traveled, and let other women take charge. That’s why, back in her FIRST POV book, she refuses to let Rand give her credit for her good advice. She loves the recognition, because she’s never had it before, and loves Rand even more for wanting to give her props, but she insists he keeps it on the downlow because it’s better if people think he’s the smart one. During the point in the series when she is getting the most name recognition is early in Lord of Chaos, with the Aes Sedai praising her for her discoveries, and she hates the attention and feels guilty because she’s not the one inventing the weaves. Even though it WAS her discoveries that allow them to keep Moghedian captive and interrogate her. Nynaeve also notes that Elayne is always deflecting praise and criticizing her work, back in “The Fires of Heaven”. When they were leaving the Tower in The Dragon Reborn, Egwene wanted to buy the fanciest clothes they could get so everyone would believe they were Aes Sedai, and it was Elayne who suggested plainer, more utilitarian garb, in the fashion of the Brown Ajah. - Tuon is not courting Mat. It’s all one way on his part. As you noted in the last video, Mat has already sworn the marriage vows, so she has no need to court him. - Tuon has no particular insight into Mat’s mind and does not start gaining any until the next book, when she really starts to see him in his element as a military commander. She is able to see that his denial is a lie, because she has been trained to spot tell-tale signs of a lie. These are universal human behaviors, which is why professional poker players wear sunglasses a lot and why a “poker face” is so important to the game, and concealing the signs of deceit is part of it. - Egwene does not okay the alliance with the Black Tower and it’s not even an alliance. Some Sitters come up with a plan to conscript Asha’man to make their circles bigger, out of fear of the Shadow pulling off something like the big blast of the One Power they felt a few days ago, not knowing that it was not the Shadow at all, and one of their own sisters was doing it. The woman who proposes seeking out Asha’man for this purpose does not even want to send an official embassy, because none of the Aes Sedai really want to accord the Black Tower or the Asha’man respect or anything like equality. Romanda and Lelaine decide to pass the proposal, because they think they need the channeling help, but no one wants to actually deal with them. Egwene has absolutely nothing to do with any of it. She is just present and witnesses it all. Egwene never even formulates an opinion about whether or not she supports the proposal, because Egwene is not interested in anything that does not directly relate to getting her power. We have seen this from the first book, where she didn’t want to even share a camp fire with Elyas when he told her he could not teach her to talk to wolves, did not want to listen to Nynaeve talk shop with Mother Guenna since she was no longer interested in becoming a Wisdom who could use that knowledge, and she keeps interrupting Moiraine’s attempts to learn more about the Aiel so they can get on with her lessons. Egwene, the entire time she is Amyrlin of the rebels never conducts any foreign policy at all. Everything she does is only about consolidating her own power among the Aes Sedai and she doesn’t care about anything else.

Yo! I love this channel but come on man. I know this video is old but I watch your summaries and reviews after my read through of each book. This channel introduced me to the books but god damn Daniel you unconsciously spoiled so many things with the last 3 to 4 book summaries/reviews. I didnt know about Tam. Come on man!

I skipped 8 & 9 and watched your summary instead. Should've skipped 10 not 9. This book was all fluff to me.

First....you looked high as fu*k in this video. Second, you got the remembering Hawkwing's face part totally wrong. Tuon had prophecy she was working from, not insight into Mat's character.

Very bad review. Do not watch before reading the next books. Daniel mixes up quite a lot.
