YES, both of those 2 GREAT musical families/Debarge and the Jacksons go ALL the way back to the LATE 70's. James and Janet got together, boyfriend and girlfriend. when James was 14, Janet was 12. it started with them calling each other Long-distance. Grand rapids/James to Los Angeles/Janet.
@mysticakhenaton1701 Жыл бұрын
yes again, Bunny said, it was Bobby who got the family group/Debarge into Motown back in 1979. young musical genius EL at the time, was 17. Motown put it out to the press that Jermaine Jackson discovered the band/Switch. so, people the public, would pay attention...Bobby and Tommy Debarge were the band...when they left. Switch fell off/BIG TIME.

It's crazy to me that the Debarges had that light and bright appeal that the Jacksons would seem to covet but they couldn't escape the demons. Meanwhile, the Jacksons had 3 of the greatest artists of all time (Jackson 5, Michael and Janet). Two exceptionally talented families with dysfunction to spare. Them 70s and 80s, freebase and lean oh my 👀

The Debarge's was never as UBER MAINSTREAM as The Jacksons were. Think about it. Debarge did crossover but not on the same level as a Michael Jackson. That is why their story is not as big of all their demons, sicko white father and issues beyond Black entertainment coverage of it.
