When I cleaned professionally I had 100+ microfiber cloths just for dusting. I used around 10 of them for the dusting on an average job. I used Swiffer or a washable duster head, for work that required an extension handle. Your point about preventing cross contamination is so important.

You're welcome! I share your concern about the importance of proper cleaning practices. Reusing dusters across homes is unhygienic and can spread germs. As a dedicated cleaner, I prioritize hygiene by using disposable or washable dusters for each home. Your feedback is valuable, and I'm committed to maintaining high cleaning standards on my channel. Thank you for recognizing the significance of this issue!

I lived in a hotel for seven months after a house fire, and happened to be immunocompromised at the time. The more I've thought about it in the years since then, the more I've realized that there is NO way the housekeepers were changing the duster heads between rooms. For that matter, they were using the same brush to clean all the toilets in the hotel. I was very lucky I didn't catch anything. If I'd thought about it at the time, I would have asked my insurance company to cover buying the necessary cleaning items to be used just in my room. The hotel staff were very service-oriented, and they did a lot of business with that insurance company, so I think if it had been explained to them, they would have been happy to accommodate me. I just didn't even think about that detail. I was just glad to see them cleaning my room regularly.

Thank you Angela. Just finished a renovation, so dust is everywhere. I realized that microfiber clothes are just not appropriate as it just fix the dust into corners and more... Now i am about to buy some more swiffer dusters also for the regular cleaning. Your video came out at the perfect time to confirm that these dusters are great power tools. But i won’t buy the reusable ones, for now. A question, last week, i asked the lady of the cleaning company to do the baseboards of the renovated spaces with the swiffer duster. She said it was a better way to do them with the vaccum.. now there is a grey line on the white baseboards. I saw it afterwards. My regular cleaning lady will come back next week from holiday, Thanks God. But soon, she will leave to get married in another state. It is always a nightmare to receive a remplacement. I am diseable, so i get up at the person’s arrival and departure. I prepare a task list that i give after showing/reading it quietly. I thought about hiring 2 ladies regularly : one coming 3 hours mondays, the other 3 hours thursdays. But it’s always a thought, as 6h for one person regularly is more appealing for the relationship. Thank you for any recommandations ;)

I love my feather duster. I always put powder on after my shower (or as my husband says "a cloud of powder" 😆) and we have very dark paint on our walls so the powder kinda shows on the walls after a day or so 🙃. I even house my feather duster on a nail behind our bedroom door. (I put a small red dot with my nail polish on one side so I can keep track of which side to hang it back up on for next time. I can't stand uneven wear on soft products/tools. For even wear of the feathers since I only dust the walls every few days, if the dot is showing to the front, I'll hang up it so that the dot is facing the wall next time.)

@@galamander_1327 I plan to keep my ostrich feather duster with my other dusters and vacuum. I read that feather dusters should not be stored in dark places because mites, I think, will eat up the feathers. Ever hear of this? How do you you store your feather duster? My Mom used to keep it in a closet and I don't recall any feathers being chewed up. I have seen rooster feather dusters, which are very pretty, but don't think they pick up duster like an ostrich feather. I sleep on goose, clean with ostrich and lamb, have cats, and my spouse and I can get bullheaded. My house is a zoo! Thank you!

@@denisemarie6131 LOL! I have a turkey and an ostrich feather duster. The turkey and chicken feather dusters don't collect dust quite like the ostrich feather, but they're good at dislodging it gently. I have mine hung up next to other tools I use frequently in the laundry room, not in a dark corner. The essential oils or fresh leaves/ flowers/ resin from some plants do a good job of repelling moths and mites. Among those are camphor, lavender, cedar, juniper, and patchouli. I have some mesh bags of cedar and lavender hanging nearby.

Huh! I wonder what is happening there. I don't have any experience with the swishing dust around and not picking it up. Even if it's only bring used in one house when you go from one object to the next or room to room you are cross contaminating within the same home.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 11 ай бұрын
That is correct. Most homes do have "common" germs as the air circulates through the house with central heat and air, and when people move about from room to room, they carry living room germs into the hallways, bathrooms and bedrooms. That is not so much a concern. The key is to isolate the living spaces so "what happens at the Barnum house, stays at the Barnum house." 👍

Hi Angela, I love swiffers. What are some products you’d recommend for polishing furniture with wood that needs to be kept moisturized and polished to a shine? Thanks for all your great advice!
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
To keep your wood furniture moisturized and polished to a shine, there are several recommended products you can use. A high-quality furniture polish designed specifically for wood surfaces is a great option, as it contains nourishing oils or waxes that can moisturize the wood and enhance its natural beauty. Another option is beeswax polish, which can provide a protective layer and help restore the natural oils of the wood. Citrus-based oils like lemon oil or orange oil also work well for moisturizing and polishing wood. Alternatively, you can create a DIY wood polish using equal parts white vinegar and olive oil. Remember to test any new product or DIY mixture on a small area first, and always dust and clean the furniture before applying polish to maintain its condition and shine. Hope this helps. And thank you so much for watching the video and for your feedback, I appreciate it!

When you have washable dusters that can be machine washed Do Not use fabric softener because it with remove the static that helps attract and keep the dust on the duster. Also put them in the dryer if they are dryer safe to add the static clean. And Do Not use dryer sheets. If you want them to be super soft use 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle - it will make any fabric soft and it doesn't smell like vinegar.

Hello Angela ...can you recommend a great vacuum cleaner? lots of human hair so no brush preferably. thank you!
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
If you have a lot of human hair to clean up, you may want to consider a vacuum cleaner with a motorized tool or a suction-only canister vacuum that does not have a brush roll. Some popular options include the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute, Shark Rocket Corded Hand Vac, and Miele Compact C2 Electro+. These models have strong suction power and attachments that can easily pick up hair from carpets, upholstery, and hard floors. It's important to choose a vacuum with a HEPA filter to capture pet dander, allergens, and dust. Be sure to compare features, warranties, and reviews before making a purchase.

It sounds like an electrostatic duster (does it look like this: amzn.to/3mPV0SM - paid link) if yes, it will never return to it's fuzzy/fluffy self after washing. It's best to just buy a new one.

I once had a client that continually swore that I left lint on her bathroom mirrors. I had to make a couple of return trips to wipe off the lint. One day, when I finished, she offered me a beverage. While I sat at her dining room table, I watched her grab fresh towels, take them into the bathroom, shake them out to fluff them, then hang them on the rods. That solved the lint mystery. Thank God I am good at diplomatically resolving client caused issues. We came up with a plan that she would replace the towels before I wiped down the mirrors and fixtures.
