Just a quick update: I now (thanks to your review) have [today] just received my RRR015 Hippo Toe. It's really nice, the fit and finish is also very good. No gaps. TBH I would have likes a more even grind but I find this all the time and certainly with more expensive knifes. So many thanks to you for your review. :)

Hello. The 014 reminds me of the Lion steel Gitano navaja style. Very nice. I like the o15 too, didn't like the rhino toe but this one just gets me with that blade. All the best.

any of those would be a great addition to a collection. of the three, I like the hippo better, but any would get the job done. in my experience, when a "sheep's foot" is that drastic and blunt, it is often called a ram's foot but I am fond of the style.

I'm with you JB, I love my single bladed traditionals. I have a few multiple bladed ones I like such as the Blue Mule Sunfish (but I only ever use the primary blade, anyway). I do find stockman pattern knives to be handy for a specific utensil scraping / cleaning task I won't be specific about here, but beyond that, give me a single blade every time!

I’m loving all my RRRs thus far. I just got two Barlows (017) today and they’re beautiful, I have two more on the way. I love the Hippo toe, Im not sure what to do with it though, with the size and that blade shape, but i love it. The Clapper is phenomenal, and the gunstock a work of art.

The Clasper is a really good looking knife! It’s bigger than I normally would go for in a slipjoint. But, having such a tall blade and handle along with a nice strong spring, it could win me over. And, I feel the same way as you about the Hippo Toe - one of the best looking examples of that style that I’ve seen. The fit and finish is super impressive on both of them!

Wow! That 14 is great! It’s like my big Winchester, but a little smaller. Too big for the UK, obviously, but that’s a knife! I like a traditional elephant’s toe, but I’m not blown away by the Hippo Toe. Thats a proper rope knife though. Surprisingly workman like. I love a single bladed Barlow too! I hope these come to the UK. My favourite is the 14, every time!

The Clasper is a very nice knife to be sure. I do love the hippo toe blade. Sheep's foot is the most useful blade in my opinion. After watching this Video, I definitely want a Hippo toe, But being a Disabled VET I just cant afford the price tag. Great Video man. Nice knives. Hippo Toe is my Favorite hands down. Tough looking and Extremely useful. I would carry it every day. The Hippo Toe will haunt my Dreams.

JB, I have the two one-arm razors, the common stock, and the sway back wharncliffe. Despite a few design flaws, I enjoy them. Thanks for this look at the newest in the line. I may go for the hippo next. You could open a moving truck full of boxes with that thing!

I love that swayback wharnie. I've had two of them, and no problem with either, but one with a bit of a lighter pull, which to me eliminates concerns on the positioning of the cut out/swedge/nick, if that's the "design flaw" concern.

Thanks for reviewing these! You said you would, so I'm not surprised, but it seems no one (or at least very few others) is continuing to review the RRRs. Nit-picky moment: pretty sure that "Maui" knife is not considered a Sunfish, given as you note that it "slims" on one side -- which makes it a Sleeveboard. (Unless it can be both, but I don't think so. Happy to be wrong if I am). The prior RRR "Rhino Toe" was a bit of a dangerous knife, given the blade basically sinking right into the handle, no tang or kick showing at all. So this Hippo Toe is a winner. With its dramatic swedge, probably the coolest looking blade of them. Can't pick a favorite, really, of these three, except in practical terms the Lockstock would be most carried for me. I think both of the newer knives look cooler though.

For edc I’d have to go with the way you have them stacked. 12, 14, and then 15. The 12 and 14 were neck and neck but the 12 squeaks it out being thinner and the lock. The RRR line is really nice and it’s fun to see new takes on old patterns. Built great too. Thanks for showing them off.

I love the sunfish pattern of knives.. they make great working knives because they cut down on hand cramping during long use due to the wider handle. The blade tips tend to be stout and don't break easy and also my wife thinks some of them look like the male appendage.. which I think is hilarious 🤣

I am loving the Hippo Toe. I have the Rhino Toe (006) as well but due its overall width, found it hard to take in/out of the tube without rubbing the inside of the tube. I may be entirely wrong with patterns and sizes and what not. But I recently had the opportunity to snag a GEC Elephant Toe and that Hippo Toe looks like a nearly identical copy of the GEC besides some humping in the middle of the handle. I know knives are bound to look similar but sometimes these feel like direct GEC IP theft? Again, no expert so take this with a grain of salt! Great video JB!

How could someone not smile at that hippo toe? hahaha, that's one hell of a sheeps foot. The only thing that looks questionable is the grind at the base of the blade, I don't feel that plunge grind much at all. I do dig that big belly on the clasper. Lets just say it, this is good stuff!

That would be funny if they skipped 13 because of superstition, like no 13th floor in some hotels. 🤣 The Reserve line has been stepping up their game lately. The Clasper is a nice big blade. I'm digging the look of it. Like a pocket Bowie blade. I love Sunfish & elephant Toe knives. They were the original heavy duty pocket knives. Pocket axes. That Hippo Toe looks good with a single blade. I like all three but dont have any yet. My first pick would be the Clasper.

Really interested in this RRR015 Hippo Toe and I don't know why! Very different and it looks so cool in a big way. Can I ask does D2 rust and is it OK to sharpen. Hopefully, it takes and keeps a good edge. I know it's large but would you carry and use it? Is it too heavy for your pocket? Also are these limited for a short time do you know. I'm interested in slip joints because of our UK rules on non locking knives with blades of les than 3" which this is :) Thumbs up and a new subscriber - thanks.

D2 is a carbon steel and will rust if conditions are right and it's not cared for. It's fairly easy to sharpen and has decent edge retention. As far as carry, that really differs from person to person but I don't think it's bad. Once they are gone, they are gone as far as I know. Thanks so much for watching!

@@BigRedEDC Many thanks for letting me know as I think I will buy one tomorrow. Great channel and I am pleased I've found you. It will be my first Rough Ryder! I was thinking initially about the canoe as I struggle with sharp tangs then the knife is closed. My Buck stockman 301 has super sharp pocket tearing tangs and I wanted something that was smooth when closed. The canoe looks really good and I had heard about Case knives here in the UK. However, it seems the quality can be off for an expensive knife and that is how I found RR and your channel. This is so different with that blade shape, never had one like that and wonder is it's even useable? Anyway thanks for replying and I think I'm buying one in the morning. Best Gray - from the UK.

When I saw the first RRRs I thought they wern't worth the extra money, not a fan of multi blades anyway, I have to say these single blades look so much better, could'nt have the lock back because of our laws, the pattern doesn't appeal to me anyway. The 014 unfortunately not legal either as blade to long, lovely looking knife, I have never wanted a Sunfish or Elephant Toe but quite like the 015, you would certainly know it was in your pocket. lol

I just filmed a RRR collection video and all of mine are pretty good! Some very minor gaping on some earlier models but overall pretty darn good. The 014 and 015 are pretty stellar examples of how they can be done and I really hope it continues.
