I adore your foundation reviews because your foundation never looks perfect, I always thought there must be something wrong with my skin because the gurus foundations looked so completely perfect, but they just use lighting and editing. With your reviews I can ACTUALLY see what this foundation looks like in real life and with wear. I know how it will look on my acne and fine lines and see what the actual texture looks like. Thanks for keeping everything realistic and not lighting and editing yourself to the point of everything being airbrushed. I know I'll get a real look at how things wear with you! :)

Kat I was literally thinking that. I thought there was something wrong with my skin. No, just gurus are deceptive in how they really look.

For primer reviews, I think it would be helpful to use it on half of your face with your normal primer on the other half. That way you can adequately evaluate the primer and not how it might react to whatever foundation you happen to use.
@Ashley920907 жыл бұрын
Rachel Tucker yes!!! I agree. It would be nice to see how it compares to her normal primer.

I've been using products from The Ordinary since last year and I'm so impressed! I've suffered with acne prone skin my entire life and since using their products my skin has never looked so darned good, I don't get nasty spots at all any more and apart from the odd minor blemish my skin is totally clear. I use a few of their serums too and I'm somewhere in the long queue for the foundation but I was told by customer services last week that they're expecting delivery in 6 weeks time so there's a pretty long while to go before I can see how that works out.

@panickedantics77617 жыл бұрын
Actually, you should use this primer as your last step in your skin care routine, ie do not use a moisturizer underneath it. The outcome would have been dramatically different. Also, a silicone based foundation paired with it works best. It is the only primer I have been using for over a month. You have to use this product correctly and wait until it completely dries before applying your foundation. Just wanted to throw this info out there in case someone isn't going to purchase it because of this video. xoxo.
@dmurphy93417 жыл бұрын
Jamie Lynn - did you mean use it as the first step?
@ipetzombies7 жыл бұрын
Jamie Lynn That's interesting. I've never heard someone mention not to moisturize before priming with a silicone. What is the reason for that method? Is it so the primer adheres better?
@panickedantics77617 жыл бұрын
Yes. That booklet that comes with the product (I have 17 out of the 22 The Ordinary products) each one comes with a booklet on how to use it, when to use it, and what to not use it with. There isn't just silicone in this primer, I wish she would have read about it, but anyway, it also has some moisturizing factors. It is very hydrating and feels like a moisturizer at first. You're supposed to pat it in after applying it as well. Wayne Goss, on his video, even says that a silicone based foundation works best with it, because silicone likes silicone. But I have used it with everything from liquid mattes, dewy foundations, powders, etc. I absolutely love it. I'm not saying to not moisturize with a primer ever lol I just mean in this case, it states that it should he the last step directly before applying makeup. I use the buffet serum, the caffeine serum, and then the primer. Wait until it dries completely, then apply my makeup. I absolutely love it. I also have used it on its own and I find that it diminishes my pores greatly. It is important to note that if you have really oily skin, problematic acne, etc. This definitely can have different results. It just bothered me that she didn't use it correctly to begin with to really give it a fair shot. There are other videos on here though with better reviews and more info about the silicone primer. And I wasn't trying to be hateful or anything. I just wanted all the info to be out there.
@panickedantics77617 жыл бұрын
Debra Murphy In the information booklet provided with the primer, it states that the primer should be used as the last step in your skin care regimen, right before applying makeup. Moisturizers can make this product have a 'slippery' kind of texture and the makeup will not adhere properly. It is already moisturizing. And, like Wayne said, a silicone based foundation works the best, also the application, for me, also works best with a damp beauty sponge, not a brush.
@ipetzombies7 жыл бұрын
Got it! I didn't take your comment as hateful at all. I was curious since I hadn't heard that of other products, but that makes sense if it's moisturizing on its own. Thanks for the info!

I don't know if you'll see this comment but I first started watching your videos whenever I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I remember how your voice, presence, and the main music you use for your videos brought me so much comfort and happiness. Currently going through another very difficult time in my life and I just feel like I have a friend who is still there for me to comfort me and make me feel better when I start to feel depressed and alone. Even your mukbangs help because I live by myself 2 and a half hours away from everyone and my family (I'm in college) and it makes me feel like im not eating dinner alone. It even encourages me and motivates me to eat because sometimes I avoid it just to avoid knowing that I'll be eating alone. It's been a difficult time but just know you have a subscriber here who genuinely appreciates you so much and what you're doing ❤️

Thanks for this review Cassie! I have about 25 primers, including this one, and I don't really break out from silicone, but for oily/blemish prone skin like mine in general I also prefer primers without Silicone. There are 2 that actually clear up my skin and help with the oils so much and my number one is the Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy mattifying prep gel! It is FANTASTIC! I love that you get a pretty good size tube for $25 or something. Its so good for your skin. Even pairing that up with their Blemish Remedy mineral foundation, it's honestly the only thing that claims to reduce your oil production in a couple of weeks and the claims are true! I really don't know why I have this obsession to try other makeup all the time when that stuff literally changed my skin, but I like to have options. lol...Also Jouer antiblemish primer is good, i didnt notice it "changing" my skin like the Bare Minerals mattifying prep gel but it doesnt break me out. I honest don't like that slippery, silky feeling to a primer, i really don't. Rimmel mattifying primer is awesome too for drugstore! I have no idea if there's silicone in it, if it does, it's very little because it feels tacky but in a good way for a minute, then it dries down. I've heard Hourglass mineral primer is awesome for oily skin but.....I havent seen anything extraordinary about it yet. I ordered the Hourglass Immaculate liquid to powder foundation after watching your review, it should be here tomorrow, do you still like that one? Can someone please tell me how to highlight a comment? I feel like Cassie never reads mine and I really want to know what she thinks! Anybody else like the Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy mattifying prep gel!? Please thumbs up if you do, NOBODY ever talks about it and God it's SO GOOD YOU GUYS!!!!

I think it would be really interesting to see primer put on just half your face under foundation so we can compare wear and application. I'm a fellow sufferer of oily skin, and it seems like even beyond climate and foundation, I have more oily days and less oily days, so a "control group" would be helpful.

I love your PAWS rating system but definitely think having the "P" stand for if it's worth the price as opposed to just what the price is would be more helpful and make for a more rounded rating system! @thriftthick7 жыл бұрын
yes, I'll definitely be making that change in the future! Like I noted in the video it really stood out to me that it was flawed based on this review. And thank you so much, I'm so happy you enjoy my videos ^_^
@sondravine92157 жыл бұрын
I have to say, to me it makes a lot more sense to leave it how it is now. Let's say you had two foundations that performed the exact same, the P would cause the cheaper version to score higher which makes sense because if you can get the same product for less $, that is better and should cause the score to be higher! Once you start saying is it worth the price, it starts becoming subjective. Like you said in the video, for the price this is a really great primer!
@dmurphy93417 жыл бұрын
Sondra Vine - You're EXACTLY right!
@ipetzombies7 жыл бұрын
Sondra Vine I hadn't thought of that. It is a good point. On the flip side, the way it currently is, a pricey product is going to basically never score higher than a 16/20 even if it's an incredible product, and cheap products will automatically get a leg up just for being cheap even if they didn't perform well. I guess there's no perfect way, I can see the benefits of either system.
@sondravine92157 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had thought about and I don't really see a way to make it a perfect system but personally, I would rather that (the never scoring higher than 16/20) than subjectivity on every rating I guess. Maybe the best way to go would be to mention the price but remove it from the rating system?

Celrah I saw dimethicone on ingredient list of Catrice beautifying primer, not on top of the list but it's somewhere in there and it seems to be enough to break me out :( Maybe I'm just super sensitive to ingredients primers have, no product ever broke me out until I started using primers

You're right, that one does have it, oops! I use the Prime and Fine Anti-Shine and for some reason I thought I had seen that they were both dimethicone free. Anyway, I just double checked and the Anti-Shine one is definitely cone-free. I am super sensitive to silicones too and that one is the only primer I have used so far that doesn't clog my pores like crazy. It is wonderful and I never hear anyone talk about it.

By now I'm sure you have heard all about the ordinary now. Including the 25,000 person wait list for the foundation. I'm so looking forward to your review on the primer so I can know whether or not to add it to my skin care order from them. Have a wonderful day!! Sassie Cassie

Here's a suggestion, for these videos which you upload one month after it was filmed, would be nice if you inserted an update at the end with your current opinion on the product, if it ended up breaking you out, if you continued to use it, etc... You've now had time to test it so maybe it wouldnt hurt letting us know, considering the fact that you test a lot of products and not all of them end up in Best&Worst of beauty.

I did put an update at the end of the video... it was written out that I haven't used this again since it broke me out terribly :)

I received my primer and makeup this past Thursday and I am sold and very much in love with it! You should do a video on the foundation and serum!

I think this should make you see how the "shade range" is flawed in your system. Not only is it not always applicable like in this case, but for the same reason you want to eliminate the price (because it didn't work /for you/) you should only be judging these based on what worked for you personally. I really don't care if you think the shade range will be good for darker skin like mine... I'll be the judge of that. But I do care about what you think of the application and wear on your skin type. I think that's important! :) I don't price, it's universal and a huge factor tbh... if something is great and inexpensive - Imma grab it!

Artbug It's what *she* cares about. She cares about shade range. QED.

I like when people mention the shade range and it's a way to let companies know they need to do better (because OBVIOUSLY they haven't been listening and many still aren't). SO many beauty gurus rave about a product, say it has a good shade range and then BAM it's 4 shades of medium-white (looking at you Tati). So I appreciate it and find it helpful. TBH this is all an easy fix, just have different criteria based on the type of product, it's that easy. Have the same number of things you're looking for and have the points add up to the same number.

Artbug I agree. I don't think the shade range should necessarily effect the score a product gets, because if it's a poor shade range it kills the rating automatically, even though for people in the shade range, it would be an awesome pick. Especially in cases like me, I'm very very pale and basically know very few brands have my shade so I will almost always need a white mixer. Because of that it's not that important to me to know how good the range is. However, it could still be mentioned as a side note or in the product info at the beginning when you usually check out the website etc.

So do you literally go by the arbitrary ratings beauty gurus give or the review they give? I usually go by what they say vs. the mostly random number ascribed to the product and if you have a shitty shade range and you're a massive company, you deserve down ticks. Thats my opinion anyway. If you can't get a basic shade range down, how good can your products be, especially as a high end brand.

Thank you so much for testing this out! The Ordinary has a whole slew of products that are coming out (and selling out REAL fast--as in they're back-ordered with a TBD date). I'm thinking of trying this out anyway, but now I'll be really cautious 🤗😉

I swear by Deciem and The Ordinary, however, I have the same skin type as you and that primer isn't great (I was super greasy). Instead, you need to get your hands on the Hylamide Matte 12 primer. That one is BOMB! Keeps me pretty matte all day (I will normally get oily around hour 7). =) Thanks for this review!

Hello Cassie I love your tutorials! I am hoping u will review more ordinary products in the future? Particularly the AHA/BHA peel... also have u tried/considered trying facial oils? It really changed my life in oil control! I rarely breakout and oil control is never an issue anymore. Everyone is different of course but I always see u blotting so I wondered. I recommend a double cleanse using a oil to remove makeup then rotating a foaming / vitamin cleanser followed by toner, serum or essence, then moisturize with oil. I actually use lotion for day/ cream for night before applying the oil as a last step. I use rosehip oil... it was hard at first because it's oil so it was a little creepy feeling but the results have been so amazing. ❤️😘

Hey Cassie. I think to help with the P portion maybe comparing price per ounce/gram with a certain range for each rank (1-5) it would also help to give more of an idea on price comparing things
