I love what you did!! And don't apologize for posting long videos and waffling on, that's what we love to see!! (and yes, the feather details in the raven are divine!)

Thank you Zoe ❤️ I'm glad you liked the end results 🥰 and of course the waffling 🤭 I feel like I want to create some more raven and crow prints ( any excuse to do some ridiculous details hehe)

thanks for explaining that "Lino Tech" has come a long way in a couple of decades! The last time I did a lino print was in high school, some (*ahem*) 35 years ago (yikes). I was thinking while watching your video "wow, I remember carving actual flooring in art class... with dull tools." LOL I do still have my prints from so many years ago and I think they turned out pretty good. I feel like I need to become reacquainted with this art process again. :) Thank you for the video, Katy!

I can't believe I missed this video when it came out! I need that raven print in my life!!!!!! I think the majority of your pictures would be good as lino prints but especially any other raven related ones you did. J xx

I do love that raven. They're all good, but that raven looks so good with the feather details. I recently played around with that same upcrate. Way way way back when I got it, I opened it, closed it, and stuck it on a shelf. Too scary for me. But I've been playing around with it and carving pink erasers into stamps and having a blast.

Thank you bjustbee ❤️ I'm glad you enjoyed it 🥰 yes, the raven is my favourite too. I really enjoyed adding those details 😍 It was one of those boxes where it needs a lot of planning rather than a project you can just pick up and go with. I love that you're carving the erasers! That's a great way to use those tools and have some awesome hand carved stamps too!

I ended up sending that box to the charity shop, I can’t be trusted with pokey objects 😂 This looks so amazing! I can see why you’re enjoying it x

Hey Katy I'm lethal with a blade stabbed my belly and thumb recently. I got the kit from artful then bought more in the sales. Enjoyed this video, learnt so much. They are gorgeous, my favourite is the crow.

Thank you Johnny ❤️ ooooh they can be lethal can't they? I'm not so bad these days with the tools. I recall many hideous lino print injuries back in the college days😣. Back then the lino was really tough to carve too. I'm glad the video helped, it's a nice cathartic process once you get into it. I also picked up the lino booster pack in the sale too! Bargain! Crow is a good choice 😉

I did a lot last year and loved it but ended up with so many pieces I didn't know what to do with them so didn't do any more which is a shame as I really enjoyed it. It does take a while to get your head around what to leave in/ take out. Loved yours specially the raven. YES please do more videoes on this!!!!
@KatyRylesArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you Sue ❤️ hehe yes I can relate to that 🤭 I have ended up with a lot of prints and test prints lol You should still do it if you enjoy the process though 😉 I'd love to make some more videos on this 🥰

Never tried that technique and my hands hurt by just watching you carve. Looks actually quite strainful, but the outcome is amazing! Btw: No wonder, it's easier and more precise if you turn the lino instead of your hand. Golden rule for fussy cutting: Turn the paper, not the scissors. Guess the same applies here as well.

Thank you Crafting Lady ❤️ it can be a little tough on the hands depending on different brands of lino. (Nowhere near as bad as the old school stuff 😅) But the key as always is to just take your time. You know, that does make sense comparing it to the paper cutting principal! I'm all for some processes which are simpler and more precise! Great minds 😉😉😉

I really enjoyed this video. I've been looking forward to seeing a process video on Lino printing and as someone who hasn't done it before I definitely appreciate the tips on how to be safe! I'm wondering whether along with paper, it would also be possible to use fabric paint to print on fabric 🤔. You know, like the fabric paints we got in an upcrate box a while back? I need to have a think about which of your prior images I think you should do in lino, but I do love all your flowing hair/art deco style ladies! So any one of those!

I sometimes use the finger covers that come with needle felting kits to when Lino cutting. Doesn’t restrict my movement too much, and adds some protection. Saved my thumb from a few whoopsies, but I still have to be aware of where the rest of my hand is.

These are fabulous Katy. And I love the do what I say not what I do 😂😂 think my favourite has to be the dragon, but that’s purely because I just love dragons 🐉🐉
@KatyRylesArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you Evie ❤️ I'm glad you liked them 😊 Hehe yes! Watch your own fingers and don't copy mine hehehe! I'm wanting to try and recreate one of the gouache dragons. I think some of the designs might translate well 🐲🐲
