I was hoping to never need to leave a pinned comment about this!!! But I feel it’s needed.. Our kids are wearing their seat belts!! Laine has to get up from time to time to get kids things or take them to the bathroom. But she also wears her seatbelt but was being ornery since I told her to. Thanks for your concern. But we will not allow rude comments about seatbelts nor will we get into a debate or allow a debate to be had on our channel. We will delete those comments if needed. Thanks everyone and hope y’all understand!

Couple of things I'd like to mention, you should have Tire Minders on the Jeep if you don't already, Lyf did and their brake or something on their toad caught fire....if they didn't have their Tire Minders, the MH could have caught fire. Gas station....if you start the sale at the pump over, you'll be able to fill up. Lane, I use to get up and walk around, never again! 😢 My husband had to brake, he did it lightly but I went flying!!! I was badly injured. Please stay safe. GOD Bless You Both and your Family! 🙏💕🙏

@@carlaj38 I only said what I said because I read that some older class As did not have any front seatbelts..meaning Mom and Dad could not use them because they were not there at all!!! My mistake for having incorrect information, so I am sorry!!!! 😔 I have 6 kids and also too would likely get up to check on kids. Last summer, I had a disc rupture in my neck out of the blue requiring emergency surgery, so safety has become a more important concern for me, now. But, even so I dont question their parenting skills, they are excellent parents! I was questioning the actual companies who dont install sestbelts in vehichles, even buses...I feel like people then at least have a choice to use or not use. Loftis Family, please accept my apology....

The latest research supports controlled braking. You're supposed to use it in context of the 5-3 method. For other readers, 5-3 is when you determine your safe speed (35 mph) brake with enough pressure where you're only applying constant pressure for 3 seconds to bring you 5 mph below your safe speed (30 mph). Wait for your truck to reach that safe speed again (35) and repeat the 5-3 method. That's controlled braking. Some old timers still use constant pressure and swear by it. No matter how you do yours you always have to have air or your gong to get in to trouble real fast.. Your brakes WILL lock up when you run low on air. So if your stabbing the brakes to much over a long down hill your where more or less geared to high when you started.if you loose I would go in to the old timers way and press and hold 5 lbs and give you compressor time to make up the loss or bring that rig to a stop before it takes off on you..

You might try having a muffler shop add an exhaust tip that angles down. Not straight down as that might cause to much back pressure, but angled slightly toward the outside and down away from your jeep.

@@LoftisPartyofSix Ah, I see wonder if its possible to just route to the side corner? It might get worse as you head west into hotter temps. Oh, and this might be antithetical to conventional wisdom on climbing hills, but if you have the power, try climbing at a faster speed (and if you're comfortable). Slower speeds also = more time climbing, heat soaking the engine and trans, where a faster - shorter climb time might prevent over-heating. Whatever works best for you and your machine :)

I’m still trying to figure it out because it overheated 2 times today on Hwy 191 going to Rock Springs. It was a long uphill and I had plenty of power but engine was getting overheated so I pulled over to let it cool off.

@livinganewdream3682 5 жыл бұрын
@@LoftisPartyofSix Yep, you'll have to experiment with speed and throttle. Any load you can move to the genny while climbing is better. With its engine in the back, it works and breathes a little different than your truck. Might take some time to figure out what works best. You'll get there :)

We have a Class A also. I get up all the time to get drinks, make a sandwich or just go to the bathroom. It's perfectly safe. Just be careful and watch what your doing. Anyone who has a Class A will tell you that they do it. This family is very smart. They know that their children are precious cargo. And they won't do anything to hurt them. They have took all precautions for them and themselves. They all wear seatbelts. The freedom of a Class A is out of this world. You can save time with less stops. And eat healthier. Now true every so often the driver will need to stop for bathroom breaks or just to stretch their legs. And rest areas are so perfect for that. We have had a fifth wheel and now Class A. And Class A RVs are so much better and enjoyable.

I would recommend you use adjustable spring rods in the fridge to help stop things from spilling out of the fridge. Put several rods on each shelf. Put a throw or small carpet strip in front of fridge just in case something spills, especially liquids. It will be easier to clean the rug instead of all over the flood. In addition if the kids guard doesn't work all that well use a couple of velcro strips to hold freezer and fridge doors and attach to a magnet on the side. Best of luck ya'll.

You all raise your kids the way you see fit, but when my 3 siblings, and I were the age of your kids, our parents would forget we were in the vehicle. We were not allowed to make any type of noise while dad was driving. I'm in my 60s now, I grew up during times we got spankings. Too each his/her own. That would have never happened on any of our trips, also something I picked up from my mother, when the wife put her feet on the dashboard, I lost it, that's a no no. I'm only saying these things because I think you all are nice people, this is the first time watching your channel, but I can't do it. I wasn't raised like you all, and this channel would really bother me. Sorry, just venting.

Notify your bank you are traveling and to expect to see large amounts of high fuel purchases. My bank stopped my credit card usage until I called them and told them I was traveling and need it reactivated again. And, some station will limit a debit card fuel purchase to $100! but allow $150 fuel purchases on credit cards. You can get the clerks to override the cutoff and let you pump all you want. But that means having to go in first, let them know and leave you card with them before pumping. Their protection from drive offs. Truck stops usually dont have limits on their credit cards if you pump in the truck bays. But truck stops will charge more per gallon for non cash purchases. Get a truck stop credit card and you can save some money. Pilot! Loves TA etc.

Why are you not wearing seat belts? Just because you can get up and move around, doesn’t mean that you don’t need to stay safe. A class A motor home isn’t nearly as safe as the truck you were in. Stay safe!

Robin, I’m not going to get into a seat belt debate on our page! Feel free to look up the law! We do where our seat belts but Laine has to get up quite often to get the kids things or take them to the bathroom. Thank you for your concern. This will end this discussion.. but feel free to talk about or ask about anything else.

Unfortunately, your automatic transmission shifts based on engine RPM, and not on temperature. You have to shift it manually to maintain proper temps on the climbs. Reason being, the water pump moves more water at higher rpm. No need to pull over, just shift down another gear.
@LoftisPartyofSix
@LoftisPartyofSix 5 жыл бұрын
Don’t pull over even when the engine temps are high? I was maintaining power with problem but once it reach its max I felt I needed to let it cool off.
@dachshundsecurityforce1704

@@LoftisPartyofSix Drop another gear sooner, and you will never get the temp into the red zone again. I did the same thing as you, and pulled over half way up a mountain, in New Mexico. That night, i decided to read the Cat Engine manual, and it specifically has a section on mountain driving and maintaining proper engine temp.

Just came from there back to Indiana. Durango was our favorite. Check out the Bayfield RV park just east of Durango super nice-$45 though. If you're Harvest Host members, there is a nice experience between Durango and the Cliff Dwellings (Mesa Verde) ; it's an Alpaca farm. That's free and the kids might like it, a great staging camp for Mesa Verde. Wolf Creek Pass is over 11K feet--engine braking, on 160 north of Durango. See the steam train in Durango--kind of expensive for travel for 6 tho. It's station is in Duango. Take your Jeep to Silverton to hit the trails there.

I have say , the reason the comments about seat belts is they care. But there is a way to say it with love. You know what I mean. The refrigerator doors you can pickup straps just for that at. HOME DEPOT , LOWES . Ask someone in the Appliance department and/or the hardware department. I'm sure they have at CAMPING WORLD. Or check AMAZON , they have the DREAMBABY PREMIUM APPLIANCE AND FRIDGE LATCH for $2.99. You can at least see the straps I'm talking about. You dont want something that's going to be hard because you're going to be getting things for your children . All the rattles , I went through that when I started to. I purchased rolls of the rubber mats and cut to fit my plates and placed them between each one. The turn table in the microwave I placed a slack of plastic cups in the middle of the platter. You could remove it but then you have to store someplace so this works for me. I did the pots and pans the same as plates and cups . The silverware I just place dish towels over them. The needs to be a mirror or camera for the driver to see what's going on behind . As time goes you'll catch on what works and what don't. Love you guys. Don

Was that the Eisenhower pass? I would spend the summer in Colorado doing art shows in my 30 footer towing my fully loaded art van and I hated that pass. Not only was it slow as molasses going up but just as slow going down in low gear. I lost my brakes coming down that 1 year because they just got too hot. I got lucky, but it scared the bejeebers out of me! It is nowhere near the nastier CO passes grade wise or narrow wise but it just seems to go on forever.

Yes, filling up at a regular gas station they often only allow a $100 maximum purchase. In the 9 years I've been motorhoming I fill to the max and then when that shuts off I switch to a different card to pump to full when I'm fueling up with the cars. However if you go to truck stops and fill up with the 18 wheelers they usually require you to go in and pre-authorize what you think you will need $150, $200, $300 and then go back in to get a receipt for the actual pumped amount. In fact my rig when towing is 57.5 feet so I actually find it easier than trying to get into a car oriented gas station for my diesel. I just found your channel so I would be interested to see your youtubes when you were driving the duelly. I have been thinking recently that maybe a Suburban and Travel Trailer might be a better way to go for our situation (2 retired adults and 2 100 lb dogs). Enjoy your travels and I'll be with you in spirit!

I have a question. We are a family of 5, 3 kids, 9, 3, and 2. My husband is a trucker and is gone through the week, home weekends. We are considering buying an rv or fifth-wheel, and just living in it for a year, very little actual travel. We would like to purchase a catering trailer to haul with us that could generate income. We have catered in the past and would love to offer it to a busy RV park. Do you think this is something RV parks could benefit from if our prices were reasonable?

for that technical the power to that engine like i have comment before i will share again this topics ideas that i hope can help it : just for curiosity can show to us the plant of that rv without any inside components just to see how can be project a new dispose inside and change the technology support to improved and be able was at be at home and not be more expensive just optimized the cost to less? Because there are news electrical motor with the house power enough to provide mobility to some this rv dimensions,i see there are electrical motor with 5000 Horse powers and if there not exist logistical grid to charged the batteries that RV like i have see on that electrical motor have also a small motor combustion with 3 cylinders enough to charge the batteries and that combustion motor its just when are without logistical power grid to provide when are out of grid and when the batteries need be charged, because when are in movement the solar panel at roof also charged and even when the rv are brake also charged the batteries and even are in some decline road when go down also charged the batteries to provided electrical power and the engine never stop without electrical power because that small engine are enough to provided electrical power when and if the batteries are low and when its parking the rv at some point can be also have a small fan that can be open when the rv are stop and also that fan with directional winds provided and produced electrical power to the batteries and like the others like the solar panel at the roof and etc... and inside everything can be change to be all feed at electrical grid without be expensive to use some others components was dual feed power to be working and be more cheap to applier at this RV, and the even when need hot water to the shower when the engine of combustion are working to produced electrical power to cooler that engine can use it the water and maintain at some thermal deposit with a thermal solar also to heating the water, and just need to see what space exist when the rv are closed or open and be useful at all the roof, even when some winter cooler of course the needs are more to heat all the rv that engine if necessary can provided heat water to all the heating system at all rv with small radiators of water or just using the pipes of air conditional to cooler at summer and using that pipes also to disperse the heat air to all the rv and etc... what kind of isolation this RVs have it? and what windows if are doubles division or just one single glasses on the windows? the science explain the vantages about that double glasses windows for improvement the isolation and keep more less expensive to be cooler an to be heat inside and even the noise from outside its less, at my home my parents i have made it that changes and the different was amazing even the cost of keep climates inside of the house of course even the noise from outside and etc... i hope that can idea can be help it, from who wants applier at even some old RV to change all and improvement for example and etc... (of course it necessary software to control this electrical unit of producing power to charges the batteries and this batteries feed even the electrical motor and the other rest of the grid power like the electrical devices inside like the freeze the tv and etc....)

How many comments about a seatbelt can there be? I guess there’s no limit. No matter whose car I’m in, whether it’s my moms, my grandmothers or my fathers (my father drives a pickup), I will not wear a seatbelt. BUT if I’m in my stepmothers car, then I have to because of how she is. But 100% of the time, that seatbelt isn’t on.

We are a family of 5 (2 adults 3 kids) and we have drive a class A motor home as well. Not a diesel but a Thor ACE with bunk beds in it. We don’t live in it, but we do go for long camping trips and hope to start traveling full time in the summer becasue we really love our house and where we live, but FL gets very hot in the summer so going away is the perfect solution! BUT we have a class A for the same reason, traveling with little kids in a small space is not fun at all! We rented a camper once and it was the last.. at least while they are young. The Class A makes everything so easy! My son got sick on one of the trips and made it to the toilet vs puking all over the vehicle. Potty training is a breeze because they can go and you don’t have to worry about pulling over some where... and mommy can tend to any issue the littles have so much quicker and easier. It’s so nice to see another family using the Class A as I always see the travel trailer which is great for the bunk room but bad for traveling. We also use the generator while driving for added AC and tv when the kids get super bored. Looking forward to watching you adventures!

I didn’t mean to be rude. i was just thinking about those poor babies not having a mama! We used to have a Class C and it was great for traveling with our kids because we could get up to go to the bathroom. Nothing worse than a newly potty trained toddler saying “I gotta go potty” than frantically looking for a rest area. Plus, they were usually quite yucky and I didn’t want my kids sitting those toilets! I know you both have good judgment but sometimes, as a mama, I would think myself invincible! But we have seen some rv crashes on the highway heading down to Florida from Michigan and they weren’t pretty. We even had a tire blowout on our trailer once and that was scary

I hate those kind of gas stations too. After it shuts me off I just put the nozzle back, swipe my card, and do it again. No need to wait and drive to another station. If you haven’t yet I’d recommend getting a fuel card for one of the bigger truck stops (pilot/flying J) so you can use the truck lane, they have no limits.

Father in-law drove big rig tow truck spent 30 years working the passes in Colorado lived in Duragno seen a fair share of guys with big motorhomes go over the sides of wolf creek and red mountain pass they aren't used to mountain driving come from the east. Wolf creek pass the speed vr weight is displayed on overheads the road is wide like a higher speed highways it's deceiving until you get to 180 degree turn easy to let the speed get away from you. Most of the time on large highways going high speeds turns are gradual. He said once you pass a certain point no way to slow down lot of weight he only saw one guy in a 18 wheel truck survive the 500 foot drop by jumping from his truck as it was starting to slide over the guard rail he broke his legs.

hi just couple of suggestions based on what we do. We estimate how much gas we need, go inside and prepay to ensure we can always fill up. Quakehold Museum putty. I put that on everything sitting on my counters and never have to put a thing away inside the RV before we drive off. All I have to do is make sure all doors are latched and drawers closed, bring in the slides and we are good to go.
