Pattern instead of random is a great idea. Always so inspired by you! Years ago, I remember a friend offering to let a new quilter who needed scraps the opportunity to go through her scrap stash for what she needed. She took it ALL and the giver didn't have the heart to say no. Lol

I am a newcomer to quilting. I started in January and my first project was a king size quilt with my own invented pattern. Very quickly I realized I knew very little about quilting. Truth be told, I had never sewn anything before January other than an occasional button or torn seam. I am so thankful for youtube and all the informative information available. The WATERWHEEL quilt top is very beautiful and I would feel blessed to have the opportunity to finish it. Thank you for your teaching and generosity to fellow quilters!

Hello! What a great give-away! I’m a quilter of 4 years and a longarmer of 6 months. All of my family have their quilts and most of my friends as well, so now I quilt for charity. My community has a program called Project Pineapple. It’s for disadvantaged people, mostly children. I would gladly quilt some of your beautiful creations to give to that charity, or one of yours. The waterwheeel quilt is pretty. I was much like you with many quilt tops that needed to be quilted. I bought a long arm about 2-1/2 years ago and that solved my problem. I now do not allow myself to make any NEW tops until I have previous tops quilted. This has worked well for me and I even quilt for a few friends/customers.

The colors in the Waterwheel quilt top are wonderful. I have complete 28 quilt tops in the last 3 years and they are all quilted. A couple still need binding but generally are waiting for the perfect fabric so I am confident I could get this completed. I really enjoy your take on things and look forward to your opinion section. You sound like me! You'd much rather make a quilt top than quilt it. But if I won, I'd glad quilt that Waterwheel quilt! It's truly a beautiful top! I am learning so much from you about using scraps. The two strip ones are like my one that I did. I think I got my sashing strips a bit too wide, but I'm still learning. I have more scraps to make another two (?) quilts, I think. It's rather addicting making those strips. This week, I am trying to quilt up what I made. Thanks again for another informative video!

Sew Becca says when you give away quilt tops for whatever reason it’s called “quilt bankruptcy “ and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s better to give up the quilt top to someone who can do something with it. 😊

I have plenty of scraps (mainly 2 1/2 inch straps and squares, and random fat quarters that don't match). I struggle to find patterns that don't require additional fabrics (one pattern required an additional 3 yards!) Love the quilts you showed today. Great inspiration

Thank you for the limited pallet tips. I have scraps but not a wide variety of colors and prints like you have. Thank you for sharing your tops as giveaways. The water wheel quilt is lovely & I'd like more tops to practice free motion quilting on. Great advice! Do a pattern rather than random. That has worked well for me too. The Waterwheel quilt are the very colors of my bedroom! It would make a lovely throw quilt on my bed. You are so generous with your knowledge, wisdom and creativity!

Thank you for another great lesson. You remind me of my mom in many ways. She taught me to quilt and we would sit side by side hand quilting all of our quilts. When my mom passed a couple years ago I was fortunate to get two of her quilts that we had worked on together. The waterwheel quilt top is beautiful!

I would be honored to have Water Wheel. My purpose for 2024 is donation quilts. So, in keeping with plan, that I would be donating the finished quilt to the Children’s Advocacy Center in Milwaukee. The center uses about 500 quilts a quarter so the need is great. They use baby to adult size quilts for boy and girls. So far in 2024, I’ve donated 12 quilts, 50+ Love Bug Pillows, and 50+ Reading Pillows. ❤
