Hi everyone! For this video I decided to draw on my sketchbook cover! But I wanted to make this project a little bit different and decided to make the sketchbook covers from toned tan mixed media paper. Continuing to have so much fun using Posca Pens! I'm really proud of how this project turned out and I hope you enjoy the video. Be sure to let me know what you think of it - and also let me know if you have any suggestions for future art videos I should try. Thank you so much for the amazing continued support! It truly means a lot to me. I hope you're all doing ok and I hope you're having a great day. :) -Chris

I think it def a good idea to do a couple of tests with the tan paper+all the diffrent media you used if you decide to varnish or seal it, its awsome and I'd hate to see it muddled, but protecting it would be good to.

I have the entire posca range. I have been using them for the last 10 years. They where the first paint pens i ever used and I’ve always loved them. My only issue is even with the 1mm you do struggle to get the real fine detail the copic multi liner sp in 0.03. I have started using the rotting radiographiic set and those really are a bit special for fine detail. But when it comes to making a drawing pop then copics are great. Also try molotow paint markers. They have an amazing deep black that I prefer over most.
@LethalChris14 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad I finally tried Posca pens. They've been awesome so far, but I totally agree about the struggle of drawing fine lines with them, especially on certain types of paper that aren't completely smooth. The Copic multiliner helped me a lot in this drawing! Thank you so much for the recommendations. I truly appreciate it. Hope you're doing well!

Some self-laminating sheets you can get at office supply stores might be a good option. That way you aren’t painting or spraying anything on the cover. The are a bit tricky to lay down, and you only got one shot to get it right, but they work very well ☺️

Clear coats often make the colors more vibrant and contrasting. I would really recommend doing one.
@happygolucky58554 жыл бұрын
Yes! Look so amazing! Instread of clear varnish, you could put on clear plastic wrap that people use to protect book covers. Its super sticky on one side so it sicks to the cover. But its really clear and doesnt affect the colours. It just can be a bit tricky to put on because its like a stronger version of cling film.
@Zoe-ft6hx4 жыл бұрын
you could use a thin layer of a clear mat, semi gloss, or gloss spray paint to help keep it protected. basically just a cheaper version of most varnishes, but that way you wouldn't accidentally smudge any of the ink. and if you test it beforehand it should come out the way you want it to :) edit: you could also test one that you would paint on, on a separate test sheet and see what you like the best.

What a great video! I love all the elements: crafting your own cover, mixing different supplies (the poscas really pop when paired with the copics), and drawing a really interesting creature. It looks awesome, great job! Also, the color pallet you used was so interesting. I wouldn't think to pair all of those colors together, but it works so well.

Such a beautiful end result! If you do end up using a protective finish, there's a lot of options to be had, and from my personal experience, using something like a matte acrylic spray top coat would probably be your best best in minimizing damage that could happen when applying the protective finish to the piece. Matte will prevent shine from distracting from the image, and acrylic finishes are often more water based and less solvent, so they won't make paints or markers run. It's something I've used in repainting figurines a few times, and it works pretty well. In any case, best of luck, and I hope your future art endeavors work out well!

Didn't know leshiy(Lesion??? Леший) may be depicted as terrifying and omnious. In my family he is more a "wise jolly old man" type of character, closer to our Grandfather Moroz. He likes more playing pranks on clueless strangers who disrespect his forest. If he want you dead - you really had f**ked up. The artwork is stunning!
