It IS a little 'involved' so to speak, so I don't expect a lot of traffic with this one. But I like to show viewers some of what goes into making a working hvac system. Not all systems have operating mechanical dampers, but the job always dictates what it needs to function.

Amazing video. You truly have skill and passion for this craft. Love how you explained the clear bender big pet peeve in the field. One gripe. Sliding those drives I give shit to all that do it. We have hammers for that. Sheet metal is not forgiving in that area. I may sound like a broken record but I love this content and really appreciate your time to share your skills and knowledge. Not sure if you get that I’m a Tin Knocker but keep up these amazing videos. I have so much respect for some person I just found on KZbin yesterday. Regards Harry

Oh my gosh, where do I begin my friend!! WOW JUST WOW once again!! That sir just sealed my mind as to your genius status!! That is one fine art form you have in your back pocket!! I have to say, you lost me with all the quick measurements and such, but watching your hands work that magic is incredible!!! I see the many years of HVAC has taught you very well!! Those bends on the damper sleeves and how they interlock....is amazing! I always wondered how the cross bends were made, now I know for sure!! Are these tools and such in a separate shop , or have I just not paid enough attention? Did you work for yourself to have all these tools? Sorry, for all the questions, but man this was one of the best videos I have seen in a LONG time on how and why to do a project!! I cannot wait to see the final install!! You sir are a scholar in every form, carry on my fine friend....enjoying every sec of these!! Hats off to ya as well sir!! Thank you very much, look fwd to what's next!! 😁😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍
@tractorman44612 жыл бұрын
The sheet metal equipment is in the old shop with the machine tools. That's where the layout benches are and mostly where I do smaller repairs like carb servicing or valve grinding . Sometimes I'll move the engine stand in that one for a rebuild because the shop is easier to heat with the lower ceiling. I did a short stint working for myself, but working 7 days a week takes its toll pretty quick. After 5 years I sold the customer list and phone number along with a couple trucks but kept all the tools. Then I went back to work for the same union shop and began enjoying my life much more.... immediately too !! I am glad you enjoyed the video my friend. And Thank You for showing interest in another trade. I think its good to show people what goes into getting a system installed. Sometimes, they just see the cost and don't understand the reason why its so expensive. I like to think the fab videos may give a bit of an insight to that dilemma. Again, thank you for the kind words.

Hahahaha...yes it sure DOES have a wrinkle or two. LOL. Completely ruined some pretty looking flat metal and bent it all up !! Actually I was an HVAC service tech for well over 40 years, so I picked up a little here and there on fabrication. I have no formal training in sheet metal layout nor have I served a sheet metal apprenticeship either. Just a plain ol' service tech.

I could save lot on electricity to run fans, if I had a set up like that. The guy that installed my furnace, didn't want to mess with it and I don't have a decent path from my (what was wood stove) corn burner furnace to the heat plenum of the gas furnace. What I did, was run the hot air out of the corn stove, to the cold air duct of the gas furnace. Then I added a relay on the corn burner that pulls in when the fan runs and wired it threw a 3 way switch I added to the gas furnace that pulls in the continuous fan setting on the gas fan. When I switch the 3 way 'off'(after I'm done with the corn stove for the year), it runs continuous till I switch the thermostat to auto, and the AC fan runs when it's needed. The AC won't operate if I have the 3 way switched to the 'corn stove' setting. This might be hard to follow with my explanation, such as it is, but it works. I just lose some heat in the basement by running corn heat thru the cold air side of the gas furnace and I have 2 fans running at the same time.
@tractorman44612 жыл бұрын
That wasn't hard to follow at all. Whatever ya gotta do to make it work is what matters !! You installed what we in the industry called a 'Summer/Winter' switch. That was back before all houses had central air so we'd install essentially a bypass across the fan portion of the fan/limit switch so people could flip the switch and get air circulation. I've seen some stuff over the years. This will be interlocked with the 24v control circuit and a series of relays so the whole system will be able to operate fully automatic in heat mode when the wood isn't used as well as when the home needs cooling. Thanks for the detailed comment Charles.
