In 1996 Robert Miles scored a huge hit with his track 'Children'. Nowadays it's considered to be a trance classic but in 96 the music press actually called it 'dream house'.
I'll break out the dreamy piano to make a dream house track from scratch like we're back in the 90s.
Chapters:
0:00 Intro
1:24 Dreamy piano (XV-5080 model of the Jupiter Xm)
2:00 Dark bass (Roland Alpha Juno)
2:33 Adding beats and combining the basic elements
4:26 Korg M1 Organ 2 is always welcome
4:53 Modulating arpeggio on the Yamaha CS1x
5:46 Dreamy pads: Roland JV-1080 and Korg Triton
7:25 Finally some thunder ⛈️
8:29 The finished track

I don’t care that it is basically a parody of how stereotypical the whole genre was. This is legit a great track. Absolutely beautiful.

Well, back in the 90s I really was completely done with this genre at some point as it was totally overplayed and copied. But now, 25 years later, it was actually a lot of nostalgic fun to create a 'tribute' track like this :)
@mallorca1guy
@mallorca1guy 2 жыл бұрын
as is the music of nowadays, everyone is copying everyone, i think that accounts for every decade not specifically for them, and the music then was much more original then the music of today.

My first CD that I bought as teenager was "Robert Miles-Children"! It was LOVE on the first hearing. One time later...a decade or soo when a friend plays for me some music on the mob.and ask me do I know what is it,I have no idea...it was some guitar noises,not perfectly played drums notes and bad mix... I asked him:"What is this s..."? He's answer was:"Last album of R.Miles"! I couldn't belive it... ...growings or metemorfozes...

@@mallorca1guy If something sells people jump on the band wagon and its always been that way. I know its annoys people because it seems there is no creativity or originality but like Blacktronics states there is but you have to look for it.

Perfect, Jonas! You've perfectly hit the Dream House or Dream Trance vibe. This is a nice melody. I like it very much. But I was shocked by the background why Dream Trance came to life: There were a lot of car accidents as clubbers drove overnight through Italy after raves and fell asleep and died in car accidents. This was called "Saturday Night Slaughter" and brought DJs and EDM musicians to the idea to calm people down at the end of the raves. This was the beginning of this subgenre. Robert Miles also found inspiration to "Children" after seeing a photograph of a child in the Yugoslav war. Both inspirations made "Children" so absolutely outstanding. Unfortunately, Robert Miles is no longer with us as he died of cancer in 2017. During the Nineties, me and my mate had an electronic music project called "The Doctors of Philharmonic Frontiers". And we tempted to make such music, too. Well, we had no luck. But we were deeply inspired by Robert Miles, DNA, Imperio and others.

Damn. That's spot on. One criticism: the intro piano at 9:27 is too close to the melody piano, so when the melody comes in it's not the catharsis that it could be.

Was really happy to see the man behind the orange vinyl from Intuition making Children-like track and showing the process. Really good final product with that perfect Rober Miles atmosphere. Slightly flat at some places like the intro, atmosphere missing, but it is very close to become full 7 minute production that I would be happy to see on beatport (vinyl of course, but it is too unreal now)

As if we're back in 1996. The mood, the syncopated melody line, that '96-'98/'99 style pumping synched-bass and kickline, a hint of 808 sound, the right-of-middle-of-the track-just solo-kick and bass interlude/section, the kicks itself, brother you've got it all covered. Very well made is too less said, it's downright a reincarnation what could be a track of the late Mr. Concina.
