Working on endgame builds. PLEASE give us detailed info on skills like Dancer XL. I started using it after one of your vids but there's so much misinformation on the internet that idk if it's worth keeping on my endgame builds. It seems really underwhelming on my HB Glavenus even at 2-star. I went for a Dancer, Crit Up, Slugger build (all XL and 2-star) but it hasn't worked remotely as well as I'd hoped and dancer doesn't seem to make him much faster if at all so there's less opportunity to stun. Maybe it's doing more than I realize but I feel like I wasted those genes because I don't totally understand them :/

@@dogs-game-too MY HB Glavenus with the same build has been a disappointment as well so I just stopped using him. For reasons that I don't understand, my SW Nargacuga gives me 1 hit KO's most of the time with the toxic needle I put on him. I don't do purposeful builds anymore. I just throw genes I like on a Monstie and give it a go. If I do things in a crazy, mixed up manner, this game will be enjoyable for me forever.

@@smallfrypunk3647 That's a great way of looking at it. It's adding as much stress as enjoyment to building endgame builds and I enjoyed it more when I just haphazardly added them during my story playthrough. Also, I actually just put T Needle on my S. Nargacuga recently too haha.

If you're interested in a more competitive Stories 2 environment you should consider starting up a Draft League! There's a whole draft league community in pokemon and its super fun being able to prep for specific matchups and use some under appreciated mons. Might be worth checking out

Tbh I gave up on my Ratha having deadly horn jab so he can focus on more fire bingo again. I gave the horn jab to my silverwind Narg instead since it's non-elemental and inflict up because even if it's no effect on 1-hit, I gave him lots of poison moves so it helps those which is nice

I use all my bottle caps for Gold palamute runs, I get 2 sometimes 3 SR tickets per run, if not do the save reload.

I love the game and PVP, but I don't want ranked. Monster hunter has a pretty chill community overall but stuff always gets toxic when ranked is involved.

I'm closing in on 170 hours and there's still so much I want to do. Absolutely love the game. Haven't even taken the cart out of my Switch I got the game. Still haven't made a team for PvP. Haven't touched the online part of the game in general. Running everything solo. Still need to do the special Elder's lair and fight Kulve. I've been a bit on a grind frenzy through. Crafting and upgrading all equipment... Took a while for the LR stuff but it's done and I'm doing HR gear now. Can't wait for the next update to drop.

One thing I hope they do is add a ranked game mode but they would have to ban elder dragons and sonic strike (at least in 2v2s). Also add team preview. Explanation: 1. Elder Dragons cannot be trapped thus nerfing half of the strategist kit. They also have insane all around stats across the board. They are defo uber/ban worthy. 2. There is no counter play to sonic strike other than head to head because SS goes first before knives and traps. In 2v2s you can apply so much pressure with SS and have your ally focus them so if you end up loosing the HtH, you will still get the kill. Furthermore, there are three SS so a person can have all three on three different monsties and you are stuck in a 33/33/33 loop. 3. Team Preview needs to be in the game because it allows counter play and switches. It sucks letting your monstie freely attack only for it to get bodied by a monstie switching in and attacking. This is crucial because unlike pokemon, Stories allows you to switch and attack on the same turn which is very huge and having little information makes for a lot of hearts/health being lossed withing the first 2 turns.

Banning elder dragons is similar to banning endgame features such as HR armor and weaponry but I don't see anyone suggesting that for some mystery reason. Explanations 1. and 2. indicate too much of a reliance on the Strategist item set which tells me your party tactics and builds are severely restricted and inflexible. If your builds and tactics aren't working often anymore then it may indicate waning efficacy in a public PvP setting. Further analysis of that would also suggest a common trend is occurring in the community e.g. a specific adaptation to a specific meta (Status and Strategist builds). By now it is implied that success in this changing environment requires change as well. Entire builds and tactics must be revisited and heavily tweaked in anticipation of not just the immediate effects of future battles but farther down that speculation. Such advanced predictions can only be vectored with each stage of preparation involving newer builds and tactics to counter the previous changes. On a separate note the lack of Team Previewing challenges the player to face the same concepts as the Rock-Paper-Scissors mechanic- a staple feature to the MHS title- which relies on effective forecasting based off of gathered enemy intel. Any attempts to dismantle that in personal favor would immediately defer admittance to the inability to deal with what cannot be controlled: the enemy. The enemy is not what should be controlled in a fight. To summarize: Adapt, don't nerf. Keep a diverse party at hand. Update new builds and tactics based off of old ones and their failures. Try using a different item set. P.S. I watch your channel as faithfully as I watch Paradise Central and appreciate both of ya for the content!

@@Ospaar While I do appreciate you watching me. The difference is that if the comp scene wants to be more serious then it needs rules. To argue the reliance of the strategist set, I just like using it but half of the kit shouldn't be ineffective because of a passive to only 5 monsties with incredible stats. The counter to strategist is by simply putting anti status genes on the monsties but this is balanced by the lack of other useful skills you give up just to counter status. To counter the "Adapt reply". You cannot adapt mid battle. It isn't like you can swap off a preset. With MHST2 they need to balance rider and monster aspects (instead of pokemon just balancing pokemon aspects). Team Preview is useful, but albeit not that important, but Pokemon follows a loose rock-paper-scissors format and allows you to view who the other person's team is. The reason why this is important is so that you can see incoming attacks (mainly the sonic strike attacks) but team preview doesnt have to be implemented if they nerfed or outright removed the Head start abilities because you literally cannot combat it in 2v2s. I am going to make a video showcasing the toxicity of the Sonic Strike attacks in 2v2s because they literally can give you guaranteed wins. My suggestion is that SS gets nerfed to where it has a 50% or 30% chance to activate going first but has lower priority than traps and knifes. (Priority should be traps-knifes-SS-healing-then moves). There are other problems but those are the major problems. Mhst2 pvp is fun but it needs to be tweaked with some rules in order to be more comp hence why games have pick and bans and etc. I don't mean to sound like a complainer but I just want this game to have a healthy metagame. The biggest problems of 1v1s in PVP is: 1. Critical hit damage: This needs to be tweaked for 1v1s because you can win in 3 turns if you are lucky enough just by making your monstie attack the rider with a high crit build and one shotting them over and over again. This also happens to 2v2s but at least you have a partner to apply counter pressure. The most busted 1v1 strat is a strategist set up with kulve's gunlance to give you increased defense and high crit monsties. You use strategist to basically run diversion and slow enemy monsties down while letting high crit monsties build up kinship via crits and then let them single target the rider. Hellblade Glavenus is one of the biggest offenders by this strat because Hellblade can one shot anyone but at least in 1v1s, you can head to head more often but if the oppenent is switching up moves (like he should) then getting back to back crited just looses you the game. Problems in 2v2s: Sonic strike: there are 3 sonic strikes and no team preview so you won't know if anyone has it until it is too late and then you have too many various chances to get it wrong because you have to predict between 6 monsties having either a speed, power, or tech priority option while you are at a 1 hit.

@@AnimeALX The game is the stage that has its own rules already lain out yet somehow there are pushes against that in the attempt to curry favor for more idealistic outcomes. You uphold that suggestion as if you represent the competitive scene yet your purpose is driven against the competition in order to control it, that's a huge contradiction! I can only believe that this nothing is more than self-fulfillment at the sacrifice of self-betterment. Which one would have the better chance to success? Strategist Set Use Argument: Your reliance on the item set is entirely weighed on ' I just like using it'. It offers nothing significant to justify using the set on a tactical perspective. The only observations I've made based off of your experience is that there are factors that render a majority of these items unusable. To what extent were your options before anything else involved twisting rules into your favor? Have you thought of any builds and tactics of your own that can counter against your disadvantages? Sometimes the things that are simply liked are often disadvantages because it is comfortable and simple. 'Adapt Counter' Argument: Who ever said adaptation was impossible in battle? The game offers you four templates of strategic approaches: your Character and three Monsties and I'm not talking about Characters having Genes. Armor skills, weaponry and Talismans are just a different form of equipping sets of Genes in a Monstie to formulate a tactical approach. Not to mention that the health pool of swapping Monsties can be three times more than just one! You're telling me that it's logical to metaphorically only show up with one bullet in a firefight? If I may offer insight: the game is over a month old so it is natural to assume that a lot of fights are central to only ONE build, I fell victim to that when I initially went into PvP with only relying on a Nerg (big mistake) and it doesn't help the community when major influencers sell a build as "THE ONE". If I was in a fight and was offered four guns I'd take them all knowing how to use them in the hopes that I have more than my opponent which is essentially how the game functions; have more than the opponent! But I don't go around trying to control what my enemy should and shouldn't use. Only then can you really say that adaptation is impossible because you remove that ability from yourself by constantly controlling and changing the game. Adaptation has its places outside of combat as well involving observing videos or breakdowns of builds not for copying but for countering. I will detail the process in the next argument. Crit/SS Issue Argument: I acknowledge your viewpoints particularly with the huge pressure faced against crits and sonic strikes with crits being the larger factor in battle. I want to suggest that you consider having builds with the same elemental defense intended to soak up the same elemental damage that is boosted by critical hits while having some combat utilization suitable for you. Good example would be the issue of One-shot Hellblade Glavenus builds. Try Black Gravios or DQ Rathian with priority Fire ResXL, Perfect Guard, Harmony and Soul Kinship. Fill in the rest of the blanks with your options including offensive measures and let the Monstie engage the enemy team on its own while preserving and building Kinship to have it guard against any major attacks and you to evade if necessary. This is the attrition of Kinship; remember what I said about having more than your opponent? Just be sure to not have the Monstie too defensive otherwise the enemy will be even more enticed to target you. Same principle applies to Sonic Strikes. We know that two of the three types are normal damage but the issue for THEM is the lack of considerable damage output. This suggests the intent of a finishing move rather than an offensive mainstay tactic so it's safe to assume that this is a secondary build in most scenarios. Same thing to be mindful of in regards to the Black Gravios/DQ soaker. Always have a backup if your opponent has one as well. Summary: Always consider the shortcomings of builds and tactics and do everything in regards to analyzing and approaching those weaknesses. That is the essence of self-betterment, not from constantly changing the rules. I've provided options for you but I need to know if there is still a desire to do more than that for yourself before trying to blame it on anything else. I still rely on your content as influential sources as I'm sure many others do too. So I ask you as a viewer, in spite of all of this, what are you trying to influence?

@@Ospaar I know about the short comings but in general Elder Dragons are literally bannable for various reasons (aka being Uber) due to their passive and stats. Having a trait that other monsties don't have is a bannable offence because they have an serious advantage over a preset which all the presets are balanced but the counter to them is genes. It is unbalanced to have Elders to have the special passive that no one else gets. Sonic Strike in 2v2s are a huge problem due to the oppressive nature of the move. Yes it does light damage but if everyone runs at least one monstie with a sonic strike in 2v2 then you are now in a 50 50 mix up which can lead to you dying or get double sonic striked and get killed at half (especially the tech one since it is a 15 cost move and 12 with kin cost down xl up 2). With 2v2s there is several variables that goes on since it adds teamwork with another hunter and if you can squeeze out a heart early before the other team can get their kinship up then you have an extreme advantage.

@@AnimeALX I can agree in a controlled environment that people can DECIDE to omit the usage of Elder Dragons. If I may allow some clairvoyance I can tell that there are certain consequences that will follow in such a limited area of engagement. The following is regarding Strategist sets and the Gunlance as you may guess where this is going. Since the purpose of creating borders and restrictions on matches reflects the intent to control, the nature of the fight in such environments will reflect that as well. With the Strategist sets all Monsties are now subject to the full use of Traps along with Knives with the intent to fully impair the opponent. Couple that with your previous gripe on Gunlances and you have an extremely predictable scenario displaying such tactics where each Player renders each other immobile with Status, Traps and Type-seals. This is not including the horrors of Skill-sealing and Stench but that's irrelevant. The encompassing point I'm trying to get across is that limiting will only do just that: limit the fight to where repetitiveness is extremely amplified due to the lack of tactical diversity as everyone just uses the same cookie-cutter strategy. Tell me honestly how long do you think that will last? Now I'm coming across as someone who is trying to fight against rules and all but the difference here is that the rules I'm fighting against aren't even represented by the game. They are represented by people who strive to define and constrain limits on how others should engage the game without showing any attempt to effectively deal with others in how the game originally intended to. Besides, who's stopping others from using Elder Dragons anyway? These are the implications and consequences of controlling the rules in a game that was never made by you OR me in my own analysis. (Edit Response) Sonic Strike 2v2 Problem: Getting a heart out early doesn't provide an advantage more than it provides a key indicator of their tactical approach and what or who they are focusing on. With Sonic Strikes- as with any two-pronged attack- the attacking team removes the benefit of a Head-To-Head in order to only score ONE Heart out of a total of three. This means that an aggressive two-pronged attack can be fended off with a defensive two-prong or even three-prong whereas the focal point of the aggressive attack utilizes as much defense or evasion as necessary to divert the attack and execute the counter!

Im doin everything I can to perfect this status build. Got the Dreadqueen armor n inflict rate L talisman, sleep SnS, Dreadqueen HH n the Nerscylla sleep GL. For the life of me I cannot find them goddamn high rank Genprey for the paralysis weapons, kinda pissin me off.

I can't say the exact percentage, but Inflict Rate absolutely does not make it be 30% success rate on the OHKO. I have DHJ and IR at 3/3, and have done dozens of attacks and it's no where near 30%.

Yes, it increases the amount of health remaining after getting hit by a move that would otherwise knock you out Tenacity ** leaves you with 50 HP.

N ticket Jungle co-op as den guardians is the most reliable method. You can also rarely find them in High Rank (not Rare High Rank) dens on Mahalo Island either sleeping on the nest or coming to attack you if you pick too many eggs.

Another thing that's cool is the Monster Hunter Stories Guild discord is making a format to slow down the game to being less "one-shot" oriented where certain moves and monsties are banned. It's really fun making builds for underused monsties and moves that you wouldn't use in regular matches.

Controversial topic- Monster Hunter is known to be grindy as its own franchise with the Stories titles being no exception. Monster Hunter Stories 2 is only a little over a month old and it concerns me how soon the furthering division of its player-base is sought after especially being supported by someone with influence in its community. It is not my intention to impose hate or disliking towards Paradise Central and anyone who finds this appealing. As it was defined in the video, the temptation of materialistic rewards offered to a higher caliber of players will only distance groups further until they thin out completely. The organized elite can profit from the trickling income of newer, inexperienced players or otherwise being farmed easily off of alt accounts (SR Tickets oh and not to mention already farming wins for 'perfect' PvP W/R ratios). All else might be secluded in minority groups of varying spectra of governance while the game experience itself withers in the aftermath of player isolation. If PvP is to be endgame then why should an endgame have an endgame? Whatever happened to the simple drive and satisfaction of achieving victory? Isn't it counterintuitive to stand in opposition of those who view the game as repetitive and yet support a controversial change that would further that viewpoint via more repetitiveness? And for what reason, because PvP seems too repetitive? I know it's just a suggestion but this really does scare me and I need to know what others think about this proposition.

Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy the game just tired of running dungeons to get bottle caps then going into online mode for a chance at what I'm looking for. The RNG on top of RNG I've always hated in games, i just wish there were more ways to pinpoint the exact monster I want not just a grab bag of mostly garbage tier monsters/skills. Rng is fine stacking in the games favor seems like an artificial time extender done on purpose, and God forbid the computer AI decides to bring the worst monster and load out for that particular quest then gets carted faster that I can heal them. For example Nergigante you can get him even when offline it's not super common, common enough that grinding doesn't feel like a chore the exact opposite of all the other elders and deviants.

I’m kinda the same way but the way I look at it is you only really need 3 monsties because solo isn’t really any more variety I guess is the word so realistically looking at it you only need 3 monsties and really my bloodbath diablos has all 3 types so honestly I only need one monstie too do anything even though I got 3 maxed out 1 maxed out is really all you need to me

I feel the exact same way. In MHST1, it wasn't nearly as bad since you didn't need SR tickets and you didn't need bottle caps. The introduction of those two things ruined the game for me. It's not fun, it borders on literal torture. God forbid RNG decides to declare you its arch nemesis in literally every gene you're farming. It's literally taking me days to get even 1 gene of what I need. I just quit.

@@MintConsumer If you want to do PvP, you'll want way more than 3 monsties. People want to play with many monsties - that's the entire point of monster collectors. If you have to convince yourself to go against the point of a game genre because the game makes things really difficult, then the game has a clear issue.

Same I can't tell you how many SR dungeons I've ran and I've only seen 3 bloodbaths and 1 Grimshaw. The 3 bloodbaths I needed for my nerg. I farmed out all the other genes faster than that even the nerg genes specifically because I could get him from volcano runs, it's torture.

For Soulseer Mizutsune, you can save a good amount of SR tickets. Its genes are not very good (with the exception of Groom, whom might be a sleeper good skill), and unless it has insane stats, it's likely moderately outclassed by water palamute due to the latter's much higher speed and comparable attack stat.

I personally hate the pvp gameplay, the fact I cant aim at who I want is bs and it was the first time I lost against an ai in years, and I dont have the time or dedication to get multiples of perks for build since I'm still missing the Dragon Palamute and just now got to Special Elder's Lair 1...and I'm still at lvl 67...

I feel like if you don't play pvp the game doesn't have too much to do after you have made builds for pve on your best monsties for each type. I'm at the point where I go in and all there is is to farm more genes but nothing else. No challenge really

They need to fix some of the riding monsties walking animations some are so jerky and give me motion sickness but astalos had it the worst it moves so janky and it has this super noticeable limp for some reason Why you do this capcom

The game got boring for me after I finished the story. The samey nests and limited combat really started to grate.

Problem is it’s a lot of rage quitters in pvp so to fix it they need to make it to where it they quit they still receive a loss on record
