Guys, I don’t wanna be rude, but I can’t help hearing that some of y’all keep failing to catch these Alpha Pokémon even when you research and use stuff like their favourite cakes and stuff. I don’t get why y’all do this. What I do is, I just carry a bunch of Oran Berries always in my satchel and when I encounter an Alpha, I just throw it and use an Ultra Ball or Gigaton Ball to catch them. Just a while ago, I used this same trick and got an Alpha Garchomp by using just 1 Oran Berry and 1 Gigaton Ball. Then I caught an Alpha Gardevoir near Heart’s Crag with 4 Oran Berries and 4 Gigaton Balls. If you don’t care about how many balls and berries you’re gonna waste, then use my method. I can assure you that you’ll get yourself your favourite Alpha within 4-5 tries. Just make sure your stars are high enough and you’ve got Gigaton Balls or something like that. If you’re having less stars, but still want these Alphas, then you can go ahead with cake research and stuff. If you’ve got bushes around an Alpha, just throw an Oran Berry, let the Alpha go eat some of that and as soon as it starts eating them berries, you go and throw a Gigaton Ball or Ultra Ball, and just roll out of there, hide in a bush and wait to see if it gets inside the Pokéball. I’ve never come across an Alpha or a Pokémon that doesn’t like Oran Berry, if I’m being honest…

Fun fact: Stygian Zinogre is the only large monster you can fight in the wild that resists Dragon. It alone will ruin your perfect neutral coverage.

A way to catch a normal gengar is easy, however it only works in post game after you beat Volo. Unlock massive mass outbreaks and once done, going to a ghastly or Haunter and catching enough should spawn a gengar. Hope this helps!

Sorry for the necro comment, but hopefully this will help someone who recently started playing..... Amplify is traaaash. Amplify is +50% for only 2 turns. Let's assume a 50% increase on an attack that does 1000 damage. The two attacks would do 1,500 each, totaling 3,000. If you did those same two attacks WITHOUT Amplify, you would've done 2,000, so it LOOKS like you gained 1,000 damage. But you didn't. You're roughly breaking even because you used a turn that COULD'VE been an attack to activate the skill! Three attacks at 1,000 is the same as 2 attacks at 1,500. Fully upgraded Pump Up is +70% for 5 turns. Using the same example of 1000 unbuffed damage, that's 5 attacks doing 1,700 damage, which is 8,500 If you did 6 attacks at 1000 (we're including the turn that activates Pump Up) that's 6,000 damage. You aren't breaking even here. That's a 41% increase over those 6 turns, which is SIGNIFICANT. Also, while it costs more to activate, a fully upgraded Pump up is actually MORE efficient. Amplify is 10 for 2 turns, which is 5 kinship per turn. Pump up is 24 for 5 turns, which is 4.8 kinship per turn. So you're spending slightly less kinship per turn for a buff that is significantly stronger.
