Your knowledge of equipment, construction, ground conditions and timber makes you a great team member for the cutter! I bet it was somewhat enjoyable for you, to do a short day of assisting!

cool vid Chris with a new logging theme, would have been nice to see you do a little commentary on the inside of that machine and how to run it as you were working. I will say that was a nice skidder, the tires were like brand new...you never see that up here in the north east. The rocks and stumps usually destroy the tires real quick.

When I had my fire wood business I built a skid with a hydraulically driven winch with an 800' cable to pull logs to my work area. Not as efficient as a slider but what was in the budget.

Hey Little Grasshopper, be very careful with the skidder until you figure out it's do's & don'ts. You're in relative flat terrain so that's a big plus. Lot's of stuff that can go wrong in steep country where the logs can get leverage over the skidder......................................I've grown to like this channel and I don't want anything to happen to it's creator!!!!(;>)

How do you keep the blade on the excavator mounted saw out of the dirt so it doesent get dull CV or do you just have to be careful?
@TrevorDennis1005 жыл бұрын
In the last video Chris mentions not running the skidder empty with the jaws open. I tried to work out why that would be a thing, and failed. Mind you, I also wondered about all the oil Ryan put in the cutting head stupidly missing the obvious, that it was bar oil. I guess I am no logger. :-(
@imchris50005 жыл бұрын
it takes energy from the pump to keep them open that could be used to drive the machine
@toddreynolds88755 жыл бұрын
It does not take energy to keep them open. You do not want to run it with it open when its empty. Becouse the grapple will swing into the rear tires. And rip them wide open. Thats your answer

the grapple will swing into the tires and rip a hole right through it

@@letsdig18 I hope you don't get the wrong idea, I wasn't criticizing your video in no shape or form. I am happy you do take the time to video as you work because of the burden it adds to your work flow. The statement I made was my comparison of digging ponds, roads, clearing land and house lots to logging. My preference of course is your dirt work simply because of the end result, the projects tirelessly perfected. I apologize for any misunderstanding.
