Yeah, all that lovely particleboard subfloor that turns to mush when the polybutylene water pipes inevitably leak. As a plumber, I've done more plumbing repairs on those things than I care to think about. Once saw a toilet that was sunken into the floor a good four inches, due to a longtime wax seal leak. I just told the owner he needed a carpenter, not a plumber. Then again, maybe he needed an appointment with this dude's excavator.

Literally any house would do the same. Mobile homes are actually built to higher standards than most "regular" houses. I mean think about it. They have to be pulled down the highway to get to their destination. That's hurricane force winds there alone. The weakest point is where it connects to the ground. That's the only reason they're so dangerous in severe hurricanes and tornados. The whole structure will blow away before it actually falls apart.

What work for us is we tip the trailer over, toss all the blocks aside with the ex. pull the trailer over and flip onto its roof so its in its old foot print. grab the frame and shake it off as the floor boards are being held by all the walls inner walls, cabinets etc. put frame aside and then crunch the trailer in on its self. its like an open tin can and when you push it all in, next to no mess in the dirt. what was the tin roof is the botoom of a tin can lol. little hands on. all machine.

A co-workers husband used to do house demolition. He told me a story of one job in a slum neighborhood, late 60's. House was abandoned as it had been lived in, nothing taken out, he was ordered to remove it all. They prepped it, run a choker cable around it to break it up on it's foundation, shut down for lunch. Hour and a half later, they were back. Fired up the cat and started pulling cable, "two young kids, boy and girl, suddenly come running out, away into the back alley. neither one had a stitch on them. Damnedest thing I ever seen!" I wonder how they explained the loss of a full set of cloths to their Momma!

Chris, a recent addition of "This Old House" had volunteers enter a home and remove anything that was of any resale value. I remodeled a house using items from the kitchen and bathroom from mobile homes that were to be trashed. When I was done with the house, the owner said it looked like a million bucks. The cabinets were paneling and 1 by strips, but what was in the house was a cast iron single bowl sink and metal cabinets. I used the counter top and lighting from the mobile home as well. I also upgraded the electric service with the breaker box, replacing the old fuse box, paneled a room in the house with the salvaged materials and increased the overall appearance. My point is, we can do more to reduce waste, and others can benefit.
